Not what the forums were intended for. But, I would accept the offer, if I weren't in my FDL, over at Laksak, and not logged into the game, because I am in class right now.

I have never engaged in any of the get-rich quick schemes. Never really had a need. I have made most of my credits by general trade, bounty hunting, and CGs. Got a bit from the Ram Tah mission, 30 or 40 mil I think, didn't complete it though (might go back to it to try for more). Got 90 mil from a recent exploration trip (had some good luck on terraformable worlds and first discovered bonuses). I haven't really done too many regular missions. I have done some to get the Sol system permit, doing some now to get some empire rank, and will do more when I need to for other engineers, but my favorite type are the planetary scan missions due to the mats you get just by doing the mission. It is also my understanding that way back when the game launched, making credits was a genuine struggle, so things could be a whole lot worse.

Do I laugh, or start throwing overripe fruit at you? Can't decide. Oh, I know!! Blame T.J. When in doubt, blame T.J.

One week and you have 6 mil? Lucky you. No sarcasm here. After my first week, I was barely in a cobra III, and had nothing A-rated.

I am out of RNGineering and probably taking an overdue break from the entire game until 2.5 (or 3.0?) introduces the RNGineering improvements in 2018, Q1. This weekend I bought a different PC game for the first time since I began my Elite journey in February 2015. If we're lucky we might get a December Beta for a January launch but I don't care if it takes until 2020 I'm not going to spin another roll in the current defective, despised and hopefully soon to be smashed and rebuilt 2.1 format. On a positive note, though, I am very reliably informed by a comrade who was at Expo that the Developers (at a very senior level, and Developers plural) were very accepting of 2.1's deficiencies and appeared committed to making genuine improvements. I wouldn't dream of naming names but one senior Dev I'm told described Cracked Industrial Firmware as, 'An example of what happens when everything that can go wrong, does go wrong." It was also said about RNGineering generally that "Nothing is sacred" and that they...

EPT is normal +15. So theoretical max 157.99 or 158.0. EDIT: Doh! Sorry, the Enhanced Performance Thrusters start at 115. So if you got a +43% mod, by multiplication the final multiplier would be 115 x 1.43 = 164.45.

Plasma slug special on a big ship with extra fuel tanks is an excellent choice on rails or PA's for an evening of PvE in CZ or Haz Res... ... but for PvP it would never make sense to forego the powerful feedback cascade, super penetrator, TLB and dispersal specials. Also the damage penalty. Also inviable on a PvP-fit medium or small ship due to mass constraints and as slots cannot rationally be allocated to fuel.

Lol, not like you to overstate your case, Mr Ozram! (But I see it was a 4:51 am Saturday night post...) Assuming apex spec and competent piloting, it's inevitable that multis used as a (or one of the) primary damage sources will run out of ammo during a duel between fully RNGineered ships of equal size class, small v small, medium v medium or large v large. My point about not needing to reload with proper flying pre-2.1 ofc applied only when effective hit points were 5 to 10 times lower than now.

The modification roll you have is rather good. +40% to optimal multiplier is the best a G5 dirty drive can get you, just mind the mass, try to stay below that number if at all possible. I find myself wondering how much hotter your ship will run now.

Those were my thoughts as well. Usually there are Commanders with much more information than myself around, happy to pass on the details. I guess we'll just have to bide our time on this issue.

Does anyone know if the Beyond series of releases will require new Beta access, or will 2.X access cover it?

Reminds me of two duels I had with Cillit Bang in 2015. Him in Viper III, me in Duracell Clipper (a mismatch ofc, but that's what he liked). Both times I had 4 x c2 gimballed multis (no c3 back then). The first time, I ran Cillit out of chaff, thought, "I have you now", then fired and fired and fired at 2 to 2.5 km until ... eventually ... my multis ran out of ammo. (No synth back then either.) Embarrassing. We had a laugh about it. The second time, I ran Cillit out of chaff, then used my superior speed to force intervals when I was 1 to 1.5 km ... firing only during those intervals ... and won easily. OP, notwithstanding your big ship experiences, you are just early on the learning curve in some aspects of PvP. The same with evading plasma. We are all on our own learning curves. Up to you whether you stick at it, of course, but worth considering.

In a game where a guy might put hundreds of g5 rolls, sweating blood for weeks, into a module ... this is a bit of a problem.

It's well known that the engineering commodities attract pirates. So, dump them and many of the pirates go away.

Although for the record I like bi-weaves as they reward flying, and the super pen rail can be a genuine TTK reducer, @Pharmacist what you have now seen for yourself is what I was trying to explain when I replied to you in another thread: i don't personally see a general (though not identical) reduction in TTK via a comprehensive rebalance as requiring anything very complex, and it should be possible to retain the skill-rewards of bi-weaves and weapons such as rails within that - I would hope, to accentuate them. But I note that Frontier have been completely silent on combat balance, including at the Expo, for a while now. Tbh, I don't have much hope of any significant changes for a couple of years, when presumably if the game is still going we'll get a complete revamp akin to a second 2.1, and a completely new meta will emerge.

I admire your perseverance. Personally, I won't mat gather until 2018 now. I'm hoping Frontier's improvements are not just to the rolls themselves but also to the gathering.

Thanks all for a lot of constructive responses. Yes, a very good point. Again I can't rule it out, although I'm pretty careful at keeping my module storage well below full. Always possible though, unfortunately. Most helpful as ever, TY.

Less to do with what, more to do with who. Don't focus on the actions, but rather who is performing them. I think that is the point.

Why do it? For one; because they can. And in the hopes that someone would react, just like you did, with this thread.
