Would LOVE to be able to fly an untethered SLF! Especially if we could engineer it a little. Not much, just enough to make it a little more durable and with better power distribution. Maybe get some experimental effects like corrosion, concordant sequence, etc. Maybe limit it to having only Super Cruise, so it requires a carrier ship in the system, or ship transfers to move around the galaxy.

Thanks for the reports Commander. That would be a bug at the "not as per spec" level. If you could please give full steps to reproduce it, that would be very helpful. Either here or directly on GitHub. Was this done via a custom script? If so, it may have fallen foul of the deprecation of the "Jumping" script. I'm not finding any reference to EDSM notes in the default scripts at first glance. It seems a valuable thing to have in the default scripts but first I would like to try and identify how it went missing.

Recently jgm handed over maintenance of that tool to me and it's now hosted at It's now capable of listing all the saved configs: Hope this helps!

I can help you there: in your "Ship interdicted" script check the "event.succeeded" flag. Details at

I think the reason people are asking is because it seems outwardly that Frontier isn't giving Elite priority. The game has pretty clearly hit a speed bump. Aliens are very very cool, but not exactly full featured content. More of a basic boss fight with some cool graphics effects. We don't even have any story-driven motivation to fight them yet other than "target practice." And since I'm being straight, the Beyond set of release stuff are things that many people expected already within the last two years. Don't get me wrong, we are THRILLED you guys are finally talking about fleshing out Exploration, but 14 months?? After, waiting 30 months already, that is a crazy huge runway you guys are giving yourselves. I mean we have open wallets here ready to throw money at Frontier. We're just waiting for you guys to release stuff at this point. Yeah, I know the Beyond stuff is free, but for pete's sake, launch a Kickstarter if you need to kick it up a notch. 14 months for Exploration overhauls... I...

This could be stale data in the intermediary "EDDP" server that EDDI uses to look up data. We have a medium-term goal to move away from that server. Could you please list the systems in question so we can take a look?

I'm at a bit of a loss. Let me think this over, and maybe one of my team-mates may have insight.

I've re-read the source code and it does look like it's an OS-level issue with your uninstall not having completed successfully. I'm thinking there must be some residue of the old voices in your Windows config. If you go Control Panel -> Speech Recognition -> Text to Speech what does the voice selection dropdown show?

Out of sync how? There is %APPDATA%\EDDI\speech.json but it only stores your currently selected voice. EDDI doesn't store a list of the installed Windows TTS voices, that is always looked up at runtime. Still if I was experiencing wierdness I would quit EDDI and remove %APPDATA%\EDDI\speech.json as a first step.

Yeah I was thinking guardian tech may be next too. I'm not sure we have everything we need though. We don't have an adequate defense against swarm missiles or the yellow lightning. Though the flak seems to take out missiles, and the lighting can sort of be dodged and may be subject to thermal resists (needs testing). Also we don't have any corrosion resistance or way to remove the ongoing effect in combat. Nor do we have a way to follow their wakes, which could require an updated xenoscanner and possibly a new jump drive.

Looks like our human tech innovation has stalled. If the Thargoids continue to adapt while we stagnate, will humanity be doomed? What are we gonna do about this CMDRs?

Uh oh, are we gonna get a 5th Aegis CG, or did all of the complaints about boring CG mechanics have the unintended consequence of stopping the flow of goodies?

You only have to look at what happened with CCleaner and Kaspersky to realise that these days third party anti-virus is just as likely to increase your attack surface as reduce it. Having privileged code ingest every file on your machine and every piece of incoming data is an enormous risk.

Glad to know the workaround works. As I said, an FD dev is aware of the malformed journal entry so hopefully it will be fixed soon.

For the people wondering how their ship could sustain damage even with "low speed" realize your ship is MASSIVE, which means even a slow impact carries a huge amount of energy. Eg, Even an impact at 5m/s of a 2000 T space ship is like getting hit with 25 MJ (KE = 1/2mV^2) of absolute hull damage to your unmodded integrity. Why unmodded? In Elite the game doesn't seems to care how much hull you have when colliding with immovable objects. Hence the game seems to model these collisions as inelastic, which means that all of the energy is converted into deformation of the ship's core frame. This is different from two colliding ships where both objects are movable and of somewhat comparable mass. For the people wondering why their gear isn't buffering the impact, realize that if your gear isn't lined up with the terrain, then you're potentially damaging your landing gear / impinged hull. It would be like jumping into the air, flopping like a fish, landing with your legs at a funny angle, and wondering...

The trick is to line up perfectly on a nice flat area, and then toggle FA until you drift via gravity to the surface and the landing gear engages. Eg, NEVER use down thrust or even slow momentum to reach the ground. Toggle only. Ideally you should finish with FA on and the barest passsive downward vector. Speed should still read 0 the whole time. 1 at the most. EDIT: For this to work, FA button must be set to HOLD. Not TOGGLE.

Cool theory. Until I see evidence, ammonia based life forms are still KOS. Wouldn't surprise me if it were true though. Would be a nice twist.

Hull damage from landing without shields? What speed are you landing??? No need for hull damage if you fly it right ;).
