I suggest the entire thread is reviewd once more on reasons given. In short, those witgh the deepest pockets dominate the franchise, thus removing the RPG-y-ness of it, as one can simply buy ones way up the ranks Munchkin style.

Neutron boosts are risky but pretty easy once you get the hang of it, and they can save quite a lot of time if you plan your route well. My first trip to Colonia was 3.7 hours, and I was a Neutron Highway noob. I'm sure I could get there much faster with practice. Pro Tip: bigger ships are better at navigating the jets.

Can't argue with this. The only reason to not do this is to make Xbox controllers more "equal" by effectively nerfing the potential of KBM/HOTAS. This is a terrible way to treat PC gamers though.

I agree that they should be challenging, and I'm not worried about it getting too easy since I'm sure Frontier will just notch up the difficult with each new tool we get, just as they've already done. As for the wakes, you should read the descriptions on the materials you can collect from Thargoid corpses. ;)

OP, I suspect the clunkiness lies between the chair and the desk. Sure it would be great if the device had a fire group, but it's WAY easier to use than an ECM. An ECM requires precise timing and counters a fast attack. The anti-EMP only requires charging. It's dead easy to use because the Thargoid EMPs are very predictable.

Would LOVE to be able to fly an untethered SLF! Especially if we could engineer it a little. Not much, just enough to make it a little more durable and with better power distribution. Maybe get some experimental effects like corrosion, concordant sequence, etc. Maybe limit it to having only Super Cruise, so it requires a carrier ship in the system, or ship transfers to move around the galaxy.

Ignoring the never-ending annoyance the Anaconda's hull mass provides, yeah, the Annie wins on pure cabin space. If you intelligently run bubble tourism missions, however, that advantage shrinks to the point where the Beluga's massively more comfortable flight characteristics come into play. Compare these two (very rough, I tried to keep them as close to each other as possible): Beluga: Anaconda: The internals are chosen to take the highest paying bubble tourism mission you can find, add more with relatively close (or better, the same) destination until the board dries up, and fill the rest with one-way VIP transports. Makes 50-75 MCr/h. The Annie still wins on range - though not by much - but to get the same kind of endurance out of it, you need to put an extra fuel tank in it. That is a slot lost, and the funny thing is, an engineered Beluga doesn't even need a scoop for most bubble tourism missions. Even if you go further, the undersized scoop...

Even this thread is proof of just how 'different' this community is, it hasn't gotten too toxic or completely derailed and it's already on it's fourth page! Truth be told OP, the haters are going to hate, the fanboys and white-knights are going to defend and as others here have said, it's best to just take either side's commentary with a grain of salt.

No, not at all, I do not accept that. Deacon was the first disabled superstar on children's TV to be treated normally, he was a smart man and I as a disabled man look back on his legacy and escapades with admiration: "In 1981, during the last year of his life , Joey Deacon was featured on the children's magazine programme Blue Peter for the International Year of the Disabled. He was presented as an example of a man who achieved a lot in spite of his disabilities."

I think the reason people are asking is because it seems outwardly that Frontier isn't giving Elite priority. The game has pretty clearly hit a speed bump. Aliens are very very cool, but not exactly full featured content. More of a basic boss fight with some cool graphics effects. We don't even have any story-driven motivation to fight them yet other than "target practice." And since I'm being straight, the Beyond set of release stuff are things that many people expected already within the last two years. Don't get me wrong, we are THRILLED you guys are finally talking about fleshing out Exploration, but 14 months?? After, waiting 30 months already, that is a crazy huge runway you guys are giving yourselves. I mean we have open wallets here ready to throw money at Frontier. We're just waiting for you guys to release stuff at this point. Yeah, I know the Beyond stuff is free, but for pete's sake, launch a Kickstarter if you need to kick it up a notch. 14 months for Exploration overhauls... I...

Yeah I was thinking guardian tech may be next too. I'm not sure we have everything we need though. We don't have an adequate defense against swarm missiles or the yellow lightning. Though the flak seems to take out missiles, and the lighting can sort of be dodged and may be subject to thermal resists (needs testing). Also we don't have any corrosion resistance or way to remove the ongoing effect in combat. Nor do we have a way to follow their wakes, which could require an updated xenoscanner and possibly a new jump drive.

Looks like our human tech innovation has stalled. If the Thargoids continue to adapt while we stagnate, will humanity be doomed? What are we gonna do about this CMDRs?

Uh oh, are we gonna get a 5th Aegis CG, or did all of the complaints about boring CG mechanics have the unintended consequence of stopping the flow of goodies?

For the people wondering how their ship could sustain damage even with "low speed" realize your ship is MASSIVE, which means even a slow impact carries a huge amount of energy. Eg, Even an impact at 5m/s of a 2000 T space ship is like getting hit with 25 MJ (KE = 1/2mV^2) of absolute hull damage to your unmodded integrity. Why unmodded? In Elite the game doesn't seems to care how much hull you have when colliding with immovable objects. Hence the game seems to model these collisions as inelastic, which means that all of the energy is converted into deformation of the ship's core frame. This is different from two colliding ships where both objects are movable and of somewhat comparable mass. For the people wondering why their gear isn't buffering the impact, realize that if your gear isn't lined up with the terrain, then you're potentially damaging your landing gear / impinged hull. It would be like jumping into the air, flopping like a fish, landing with your legs at a funny angle, and wondering...
