Why not actually make psychotic behaviour accountable? Sure you could probably get away with a few illegal destructions over a given period, but then penalties start ramping up, quick! If you act like a psycho more and more stations won't let you dock. More and more systems start denying you a permit. You're highlighted as a psycho to other CMDRS. Why is the interdiction and mindless destruction of CMDRs seen as some sort of noble, deep gameplay we need to tolerate? Surely it's little more than the three year old placeholder gameplay it is? Surely PvP should be a bit more involved and interesting by now? It needs more interesting easily accessed gameplay (scenarios), with mindless/illegal destruction held accountable by some sensible cause and effect outcomes...

I have no issue with Anarchy systems meaning there's no law inforcement there. But to suggest that a CMDR can act like a lunatic with no negative outcome seems as counter productive as it is illogical... Why would the Pilots Federation ignore such behaviour from one of its members (mindlesslessly destroying other members) when they supposedly have a "zero tolerance policy regarding dishonourable behaviour?" Why would Insurance Companies sit by and do nothing about an individual costing them a fortune? Psychopathic destruction, where ever it takes place should have an outcome! Do it a couple of times (over a given period) and you might get away with it. But make a hobby out of it? I'd like to see more and more stations denying you docking. Followed by entire systems denying you a permit. And indeed after a while a constant market to any/all other CMDRs that you're a psycho! etc etc. And more importantly the game needs to start offering more solid and interesting PvP. Dedicated OPEN CGs. The BGS and...

I'm sure other bits of the industry weigh on their minds as well, but it is fact they specifically *told us* they would be keeping quiet for awhile until after 2.4. Level playing field is absolutely important for anything involving PvP competition, something that way too many game designers these days seem to forget...I mean how much focus and time is spent on rulekeeping in real life modern-day sports, *just* to keep things fair? And yes, limiting tasks like exploration to only a few specific ships would be bad. Specialization is fine, though, in a balanced form. The issue I take with Engineers is, by offering such crazy levels of raw improvement, *all* ships - more or less - can be specialized. Which is anything *but* balanced.

Must have a few accounts or changed his Commander name on a reset? Think he tagged Beagle Point under a different name, for example.

By sheer chance I popped into the game for a couple of flights in OPEN to the CGs. So no PP affiliation... No cargo... Just interdiction after interdiction... Attack after attack... And not a single coms or scan. Yes the game is just toxic, pointless, shallow and broken as the three year old mechanics we're still trying to make the best of. And even with FD finally trying to at least address mindless toxic destruction, Sandro has said Anarchy systems will still not be included in the new C&P (karma), so it's going to be interesting to see what they do. BTW - The toxic behaviour at some of the alien locations, trumped by what I witnessed at the Thargoid reveal CG, actually after all these years made me sign up to Mobius.

Seem to be out of rep for you. Been "Elite" for some time now, though it was a long time coming roughly two years. I don't cherry-pick anything in particular and if I scan anything in a system, I scan everything in it, even the asteroid belts. Yes, still play the game by exploring primarily. Glutton for punishment, or an easily amused dullard, if you read these forums. I prefer to think I just have a lot of patience. Having a three and a half year old daughter has helped with that. Cheers.

Considering that a ship can take off and land on a planet w/o a docking computer, why should a DC require a slot AT ALL? A DC is simply a quality-of-life feature, unlike shields, weapons, etc., which provide a real in-game advantage. There is absolutely no good reason that a DC isn't included with any ship that can carry an SRV.

Black. I mean gamma ray. What do you mean that isn't a color? <twiddles thumbs> OK, still just green for now then. ... I have a sort of soft but highly visible light blue HUD that wouldn't match any of the colors, which is fine.

If only a fraction of the effort that goes into some of these went into pointing out some other more interesting things... For example, CMDR destroying ship after ship, and any security forces not caring a bit, and stations not caring a bit, and the Pilots Federation not caring a bit, and Insurance companies not caring a bit. Surely Hitler should get angry at this? :) And let's not even get into the fact that in truth these blockades are never really for a reason, but are in truth simply an excuse ;) Christ, I'd love full blown proper blockade mechanics, but for the love of God let's have some proper mechanics and reasons behind it (after nigh on three years).

Has anyone read what Ed Lewis wrote about the Return? Thargoids when they arrive will be very hostile to every human they meet. We must prepare ourselves for intense combat with ships that may or may not be more superior to our own. I fought Thargoids in the Original Elite game. They always interdicted in a group of 4 ships and worked well togther. It they could be defeated back then and I know this as a fact. So I am sure with the current CG's we will soon get defensive and offensive weapons to deal with the Insectoid threat as it will be.

I have purple weapons and it looks quite nice. (I looked in my image folder for a screen capture, but couldn't find one.) I also have purple engines, which look great with my black paintjob.

The problem with PvP in Open, imo, is the lack of balance. For "proper" PvP, the game needs to be more like OverWatch: No rebuys, opponents should have similar power and defenses, so that it's a fair match. FD tried that with CQC, which was a good idea in principle, but completely missed the mark. Unfortunately, this imbalance causes me to avoid playing in Open, because the cost of losing my progress is too high. One thing that might help, would be to restrict instances so that they only contain "similar" ships, so it's a "reasonably fair" fight. That is, if you have an engineered PvP ship, you would only see other PvP ships with comparable (engineered) build outs. If you are in a wing, you'd only share an instance with other wings. If you want to be a pirate, you'd need to have some empty cargo racks in a ship that is suitable for trading and weapons suitable for disabling a ship, not obliterating it. Battles which last a few seconds aren't fun for at least one of the parties. Another...

Ouch! The mission quality depends a lot on the system state, not just your local reputation. I've spent months exploring, so I understand. I'm currently in the bubble, waiting for Thargoids (for a change of pace). I'm sure I'll head out into the black, one of these days, but I'm hoping that FD will greatly improve the exploration tools and I want to outfit them, before my next big expedition (although I seriously considered joining the Dead End's Circumnavigation Expedition).

I don't particularly need money or ranks for anything I care about doing in the game, well, other than messing with the Engineers more, which I haven't really bothered to do so far and am not sure if I will or not. Anyway, point being, I'm rather selective with any missions I take, and don't seem to find much of any good ones anyway, regardless of being allied with a local faction. Probably one of the many reasons I'm out exploring most of the time.

    Hi there Malc' :-)
Hope all is good with you?
I don't play anything like s much as I used to. Because I don't enjoy it that much. Can't get into "Engineers" ....too much RNG action for my taste.
    Hope you are doing well.
