    As you discovered, fuel is basically a non-factor for anything other than jumping thanks to supercruise speed scaling all the way up to 2,001c. Hutton Orbital is about 6,700,000ls (yes, million) away from the star, and you would only need enough fuel for roughly 90 minutes of cruising at your normal 1.33/h to visit it.

    I recognise that different players want different things from the game. Which is why I support the creation of separate open PvE and PvP modes, or at least PvP flagging. "People like you" demanding C&P not affect your playstyle after spending so much time crying down open PvE (and PvP flagging) while insisting that what we really need is C&P is a great example of why I continue to argue in favour of strong consequences. For what it's worth, if open wasn't required to be a shared space which caters to all playstyles I would agree with your definition.

    And there it is. I think we disagree on the definition of terms. Griefing, for me, would be the repeated hunting down of a single player with the intention of harassing them out of the game. Murdering a killthief, attacking a combat ship at a Haz Rez, being pirated.... all that is fair play in my eyes. I'll even keep names and occasionally kill someone I've previously seen hogging the medium pad on an outpost because it inconvenienced me. It's a cutthroat galaxy (supposedly). We aren't picking flowers and what we call "farming" is mercenary mass murder for cash. Innocents? I think not.

    As much as I'd love to play that game, there's no way it's commercially viable to make at this point. Too much work for too narrow of an audience.

    The first one is more like bad manners on the part of both parties. Although they could potentially be given the benefit of the doubt to not have noticed that you were a player until after stealing the Clipper, especially with the wing invite immediately afterwards. Second one is griefing. Third one is also griefing, albeit relatively mild. Pirates don't take half your hull before even demanding cargo. I don't know if any genuine pirates oppose open PvE on the basis of it negatively affecting piracy. If they do, it's either because they mistakenly believe that no traders wish to trade in a PvP environment and would therefore trade in open PvP, or because they're afraid of losing access to traders who aren't able to make piracy challenging for them.

    Do you consider this griefing? What about this? I consider it all fair play in Open. Shizer happens, eh? And we're in massive ships with guns, often hunting or sometimes selling illegal goods, slaves, war intel etc. it's a dirty and dangerous universe. Anything can happen:

    You can't initiate the timer during interdiction so it has to wait until instanced together. During that time there is the telltale sign that they are menu logging because the ship becomes completely unresponsive.

    Nailed it. Having all missions (with different destinations) complete from one location is just another one of those bugs that frustratingly doesn't get fixed for ages, and players get used to it being part of the game. Just fix the (major) bugs first, then see if the mechanism actually needs to be drastically changed. What the OP describes is probably how it's supposed to work for all we know.

    Pretty much. The only reason for somebody to oppose open PvE is fear of losing access to easy kills. I suspect it would result in many PvP players having to reevaluate how skilled they are, which most people are naturally averse to. Same reason CQC flopped.

    I was replying to Ddraig's build. He has one large thermal shock pulse laser. Thermal shock increases heat at a massive loss to direct damage potential. It also requires two to reach maximum effectiveness (suppressive effect bringing opponents heat level to the edge of damage). Personally I'd have gone with scramble Spectrum.

    I've been playing for 2 years (over 1500 hours in-game). I have a little over 1 billion cr in cash. I've earned the majority of my credits exploring, but I've also made money doing missions, CGs, and trading. I don't spend much; I fly an AspX with a fuel scoop and I've hardly ever faced a rebuy. I've never focused on earning credits, but they've accumulated nonetheless.

    Pulses are great for efficiency. Bursts are better in...well, bursts - ideal for fixed weapons and getting the most damage off in the shortest amount of time (technically beams are faster but you have to stay on target, whereas burst is just one 'shot' and lets you keep maneuvering and other stuff). Gimballed is handy for lasers in general to take down shields, since precise aiming really makes no difference against shields. Turrets are great on ships with more than 4 hardpoints, especially slower-turning ships. They make managing fire-groups easier, are easier on the distributor, and can cover much larger arcs than gimballed weapons can. I only use pulses for turrets: since there's no way to control them firing/not firing without either clever firegroup switching (annoying) or disabling things (painstaking), efficiency is key there, and also allows me to be more liberal with the rest of my loadout. Typically I do the same with gimbals, since I want to keep them on-target as much as possible and...
