I wouldn't infer too much about game mechanics from the trailers. Assuming thargoid ships actually do regen in combat, one of the new anti-thargoid modules might be something which suppresses it. Failing that, I'm glad I carry Pacifiers and IHammers :D

Considering the development directions that Frontier seem to have taken regarding exploration in general, I can't fault your assessment of the situation, though I of course do hope for more, as this game does have a lot of potential in this regard. Not sure if you saw my post on the previous page, but it echos this sentiment, at least to some extent. → https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php/377811-Notice-to-Devs-Do-or-die-Exploration?p=5933246&viewfull=1#post5933246

Much of this sort of interactive (as it were) stellar (and for that matter, planetary) phenomena isn't in the game, at least not yet. Otherwise, I'd expect these stars to be fairly well violently ripping each other apart instead of being in the peaceful, stable orbits they seem to be in...

From the dev post I read, it looks like it was 17% to maneuverability, and 30% to shields. Primarily going exploring in a Vulture, as I do, the Python's supercruise maneuverability is a bit too sluggish for my tastes, something which the DD Engineer mods don't address. Can't really say I fault it from a game balance and ship diversity perspective though.

Fortunately they aren't mutually exclusive, or at least I would hope not. But in general, yes, I agree.

That "we" includes me and the group I am a part of as well (CobraKai) where it comes to logging out in combat. In fact, so much so that we have removed ourselves from TAOL for the time being.

When it comes to logging (menu or taskill) he speaks for the great majority of the pvp community. We is appropriate there. If you disagree then you're the outlier.

I've been rather partial to green. Red is also pretty nice. They just seem like classic pew pew laser colors to me. Probably a holdover from the Star Wars movies and Short Circuit. I got them all though just in case something strikes my fancy.

You'd be fine with PvP damage being disabled in open then? After all, there's no difference between shooting NPCs and players, so you wouldn't be losing anything.

There should definitely be some way for it to be more directly optional. I get that they're worried about issues with PP's new role as the home of consequence-free player killing, but it would be nice if a little consideration could be given to explorers and players who are taking a break for whatever reason. Especially when unpledging players with zero merits won't even achieve the desired goal of not giving people unpleasant surprises, since there are undoubtedly going to be players who participate in PP (and therefore have merits) yet don't realise the significance of remaining pledged once 2.4 goes live.

A good change which has been a long time coming. It's easy enough for players who want to duel to switch to one of their own private groups. It's a pity a few bad apples ensure that it has to be all or nothing though.

My favourites are blue and white. I want to love green as well, but it's so bright that it tends to obscure vision of the target under some circumstances. They're all pretty good really.

The "10 year plan" or "non-10 year plan" is somewhat of a moot point. It's easy to tell that Frontier at least seemed to be striving for a lot more with this game with their discussion about this game's potential and future development...

Same here. In general, it's probably my favorite part of the game, at least insofar as its part within the game as a whole. That being said, I think most everyone can agree that there are areas for exploration improvement, Commander agency, and immersion in general. New game features such as atmospheric worlds, water worlds you could submerge ships into, space-legs, and many others would certainly go a long way to help as well, especially with comprehensive and apt game mechanics that make sense within the context of this game's universe to support them. Hopefully Frontier are continuing to work toward implementing these sorts of feature in the game in the future. Likewise though, there are also areas for improvement within the main features of the game we have currently. I'd personally prefer more exploration type mechanics and opportunities that didn't tend to cater around the paths of least resistance that we seem to be getting more often than anything else, such as range boosting and travel...

Kind of awkward, considering I based my Commander on how I look. Probably won't get sunglasses in particular in the game, but I'll check them out. Some of the more interesting options mentioned in this thread so far sound kind of cool though. Cheers.

Rebuy on my fully loaded, mostly A rated Vulture is only around 1.5 million at full stock costs – cheaper if you get discounted parts. Just sayin'. ;) Either way, it's thankfully pretty easy to unlock the tier 5 FSD range mods by selling exploration data to those Engineers.

Good grief! I'm glad you & the team of Mobius admin-players keep this going. I just have to wonder, how many full player groups does it take to justify Fdev stepping up and officially creating a PvE mode...y'all sure are saving them lots of time and money! :P

Well, by including your replies inside the quote tags, they get lost when I quote this post; if you instead put tags (without the periods) before & after each portion of my text, so that none of your text is caught between those, your answers will get preserved, and then I'll take a crack at a proper response. __ 'Tis a lot of loading screens, yes - there's a lot of star systems out there ;) - but I think it's covered up enough to be more than acceptable, and there's likely no way around needing that loading sequence. Could be worse, imagine having to supercruise through all the empty space in between star systems....

As Erimus says, it's just as much about the journey there - which loses meaning when you can just skip the vast majority of that journey. You seemed to have missed the point. Everest, in the case of being allegory to Beagle Point, no longer exists as the tallest mountain. It's not even close anymore. Whether you take it as someone chopping Everest in half or magically raising all other mountains' height by 50% is up to you. Either way that's essentially what Engineers has accomplished. Technological research & improvements =/= magic RNG handwavium. Engineering is not even close to approximating the former, and is absolutely all about the latter.

    Hi there Malc' :-)
Hope all is good with you?
I don't play anything like s much as I used to. Because I don't enjoy it that much. Can't get into "Engineers" ....too much RNG action for my taste.
    Hope you are doing well.
