i havent seen anti-pvp threads started by pve players myself. i see plenty of pve players starting rage threads because when in open they got ganked for no reason by others in ships they had no chance to defend or escape from. thats not pvp and its why the karma system is proposed. but both sides have as you say their bad sorts. i thought you mean salt pork not bacon :D

i have to agree there is a superiority complex among some PC owners deriving a lot from complaints that some games have to be less featureful on pc because they also are making it for consoles which have a fixed config which is somewhere mid-low end of the capabilities of the average pc where graphics are concerned. plus there is a culture thing with consoles - they dont generally get games like elite. even GTA has a storyline, although the online only has mini quests not an overarching storyline. but the whole CoD in space thing i dont think is exclusive to or caused by consoles - online deathmatch mp is dirt cheap to make unlike a meaningful single player offline. you make some maps. then some characters. do the weapons and explosions and audio, split half the maps off for release as paid for DLC to milk the players (and laugh your way to the bank for making them pay 4 times over for what amounts to a complete game drip fed in stages) and you are done and plenty of time for the enxt one. oh, and throw in a...

its like a triple whammy arsenic. you need at least major reserves, pref pristine; metal rich planet is better than high metal for frequency; and you need a high % (2.5 is highest i have seen). i expect you could try mining but i only ever saw one rock that had high materials - mostly its low chance and some medium chance. and im not sure which type would drop arsenic if it ever drops rocky, or metallic/metal rich rings.

when i have issues its not usually down to my 4g mobile broadband (although the time my ip address changed squarely was my isp fault). the issues i have had with mission boards slow loading and donation missions dumping me to main menu were on FD end not mine. i play solo exculusively. i do CG and go to what in open are high traffic areas - in solo. if i have problems one of the main symptoms is the jump taking a long time to end even after the bright star of the destination has got as bright as it does just prior to exit. im not sure what causes that. my bandwidth isnt an issue. i could easily cope with open in high traffic on both up and down. my long jumps and other problems are infrequent, and not often enough for me to find remarkable. except for the ip address change which dumped me to main menu which i remember because it saved my FAS from taking heat damage caused by my own inattention while scooping fuel (i hit the jump button and the FSD started charging raising heat to 107% and got logged...

your assumptions im anti-pvp will be your undoing. im not interested in pvp - so i play solo. but many 'pvp commanders' (i use the term loosely) keep starting threads that are anti solo and anti groups seemingly based on them not being able to find players to attack or something. and as i say the whole game is PvE. you cant play elite without playing pve, unless of course ypu play arena and nothing else.

Neutron star boosts are easier than white dwarf boosts, because the cones are much bigger. I've only tried the double boost trick once and was unsuccessful. I didn't die or anything; I just jumped before the second charge was obtained. I plan to try again, but I've been in the bubble and haven't been near a neutron star since my first attempt to double boost. Good luck with the RNG gods!

It's completely believable and it permits there to be a small safe zone around stations so that people can dock and undock without griefers harassing them. Ignoring the exploits of course.

I don't really read much into people's avatars. They're just handy for knowing who is who at a glance. The one exception would be avatars which intentionally signal a position on something. For example, if you have the Hudson logo in your avatar, I'm going to go ahead and assume you're not an Empire or Alliance supporter. Or the "where is the love" galaxy avatars, which tell me you enjoy exploring and wish there was more new exploration content. I'm so opposed to animated gifs that I run a browser plugin which freezes them unless I click on them :D

Medium + bases are quite hard to find and these give Cracked Industrial Firmware, Modified Embedded Firmware and Security Firmware Patch are very often spawned. Try WOLF 363 Planet 2F Clark Vision. I got 6 CIF and 1 SPF from scanning the 3 posts. Don't be lazy! they only need scouting and picking the fastest route to get all three scans done in time.

Did you have an Alliance fine? Fines become bounties after a week if you don't pay them. Edit: Ninja'd :)

Again looks like a long time to have to wait for such a small update list. I am personally hoping the servers are going to be left alone or all the different modes fixed for ever; Transaction, Adjudication and Matchmaker Servers.

Yes, it would have to be a massive expansion... People are suggesting walking around ships and stations will be rewarding - Why? After tens of minutes I'd suggest it would be, "Been there and done it!" People are envisaging walking into bars and interacting with CMDRs - I'd predict in 99.9% of stations you'd not even encounter another CMDR in "the bar". And what would you then do? People are envisaging walking into bars and interacting with NPCs - Without an insane amount of work, this would quickly get tiresome. Why spend tens of minutes walking to a bar to undertake a mission, when you can get to a mission board in seconds (complete with aninated head if you wish)? People are envisaging repairing ships - Making this more interesting/worthwhile than point and click gameplay will be challenging.

Oh! ETS2 is Oculus friendly? Didn't know that! I've order the much discussed Inateck 4 port USB card too so I'll have two USB3 ports free on my MB and four on that PCI card - https://www.amazon.co.uk/Inateck-Superspeed-Ports-PCI-E-Expansion/dp/B00B6ZCNGM BTW - Do you leave all your sensors and deadset plugged in all the time? Or do you plug them in when needed?

I ordered mine direct from Oculus last night. I read they ship in from abroad... I assume I won't get stung with any silly import taxes? ie: I paid them 399 and I don't expect to pay more!?

I'd debate if four point and click events taking an hour of hunting around is superior to them taking the existing 2 mins? And if you power up the ship, what's left for the second CMDRs ever onboard to do? Power them down? We're currently all too often playing in 2.5yr old place holder mechanics, often with paper thin gameplay and depth. The notion of introducing sexy sounding headline features (which on paper sound great) but in truth add little/no depth (Powerplay, CQC, The Engineers, SLFs, Warm-Cargo, Multi-Crew) IMHO hasn't done much for the game over the past two years... And WASD risks being yet another one of these. Let's sort out the core game first. Let's have some more involved and meaningful gameplay, depth and mechanics in there before running off to the next shiny bolt on that's great for marketing, but less so for resultant gameplay.

I'm waiting for more info, before I outfit a ship to fight Thargoids. I just don't see a need to do that yet.

That sounds like good advice. Rep++ I have a relatively new, fairly high-end, consumer-grade router that got good tech reviews. That probably explains why I don't have issues playing ED, unlike so many others. (Even though I'm not using port-forwarding.) I see no reason to change that, since everything is currently working just fine.

I also use EDDB, but I don't consider it an exploit. I avoid exploits. I made Elite Explorer the hard way, before passenger missions. I've almost made it to Elite Trader. I have made use of the Ancient Ruins mission (multiple times, actually), but that's an intended feature, not an exploit, especially since I've avoided using an Anaconda. The vast majority of my game-time (over 1500 hours in-game) has been in an AspX.

    Hi there Malc' :-)
Hope all is good with you?
I don't play anything like s much as I used to. Because I don't enjoy it that much. Can't get into "Engineers" ....too much RNG action for my taste.
    Hope you are doing well.
