For me, that is not drivel. That is proper and worthy PvP. Beating someone on a level playing field can give a true sense of victory. Beating someone with the advantage of a stronger ship/loadout/whaever simply takes away from that victory. If i PvP, i want to know it was my skill responsible for whether i win or lose.

It might be griefing, but as its a one off act, then its not really harassment. And while i certainly don't approve of what happened, i do applaud the effort that went into it. Having gone to BP myself, i know just how much effort it requires. Is it legitimate gameplay? I think i have to say yes. There were no exploits, it happened in open, a trick was played, and it worked. So, we have a situation, which is not exactly against the rules, could even be a case of "all is fair in love and war", but regardless, still was a definite case of someone doing something to deliberately try and cause someone grief. As always, if you don't like this sort of thing, you can always play in other modes. If you do play in other modes, then you can happily ignore this sort of thing.

Run any of the dozen or so tools that update EDDB/EDDN automatically as you fly around. I use EDDI, nice tool that has some really cool features.

Joke thread appears to have got a bit serious here. I think its served its purpose, and is now going into baiting territory, so shutting it down.

I think i'm going to have to agree with this opinion. And, everyone who is against what happened here, just remember, that was many hours of flight by a SDC member to pull this off. That means many hours they were not doing something else within the bubble! One CMDR's pain is to your benefit!

I remember seeing the trailer earlier this year, but I didn't know it had already started in the US. I guess we'll get it eventually. Sometime. Next year. Maybe.

Both. We need weapons. But we also need scanners to target the weapons.

I think the idea of a Sol -> BP -> somewhere else makes for a great endurance challenge worthy of the Buckyball Racers Club, especially given that the Sag A* run is now down to 2 hours. But the 65k 48 hour challenge was more about getting out there as quickly as possible in an exploration equipped ship. So at a minimum an ADS and DSS and preferably a SRV and shields. And also with the intention that the CMDR would then do some actual exploration before returning physically to sell her/his data. Just my opinion, but I think that 65k challenges should be exploration focussed whilst Buckyball ones are about pure speed. Neither one is better than the other but they are different things.

I see what you did there :D Actually, that mistake almost came as something of a relief. I was pretty certain that I wasn't going to be able to get under the 2 hour mark on this run but it was tantalisingly close if I could "just" do it perfectly from here (with "here" being anywhere from 5K from Sol). After that jump the pressure was off. Still undecided whether to try again tomorrow or not. These 2(ish) hour runs take a lot of concentration but they don't require blocking off a significant part of a day to do or a lengthy recovery time. And I now have some really concrete timings to try and keep ahead of rather than a theoretical schedule. So if nothing else, I can try a run and abandon it if I'm not ahead of today's one. nb: just in case you are wondering about why I would want to do it tomorrow at all, it's because I want to know if I can do sub 2 hours in the current build. After Tuesday the route plotter change might make it relatively easy (probably not, but you never know). Or other changes...

I think we had a T-9 on Distant Worlds 3302 with us (Olivia Vespera?). It housed a complete Wasp Radio station if I remember correctly so every ship has its uses :D

I think I've worked out why some Cmdrs find exploration boring. It's because Macedonica gets all the excitement!!! :)

Outstanding work and dedication, CMDR! NGC 2286 also intrigued some others and we surveyed as much of the border as we could back in June. Along with the other three locations of abandoned settlements in the Rift, Gap and Conflux one hypothesis was that the permit locked 2286 sector could hold another set of yet undisclosed (and blocked) settlements, as a fourth corner (bottom right) in a rough square, when taking the other locations into account. However, nothing specific was found there that may indicate any space travel or colonization activities. Fly safe and may the wind be at your back! Andrew

Departure 09:16:00 Arrival: 11:16:58 Time 2:00:58 No really huge errors this time but still messed up that last boost again. Sub 2 hours was still a theoretical possiblity until about 15 jumps from the end when I had an 89 second jump.
