Devilsgun, I believe you might have seen my colleague, JT442, reply in the Dangerous Groups sub. However, you'd both, CMDRs, be welcome in Deep Recon X. We're multi-platform, and very friendly. We're primarily an exploration team, but we have other stuff going on too, like hosting regular CQC nights (You'll get a game, basically, unlike trying pot-luck!). You can check us out at: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php/335410-DEEP-RECON-X?p=5251225#post5251225 We'd be happy to have you on the team.

Imo uninhabited systems should be its own type, i.e. "uninhabited". When showing the galaxy map in the mode "by government type" previously you saw all uninhabited systems in the color of low security, but showing them as anarchy instead doesn't help, either. Because when looking for anarchy, you may want to look for actual, inhabited anarchy systems, not just any random system without any people at all.

The NS plotting idea is excellent. It means definitive, efficient and more importantly personalised NS 'bridge routes can be plotted on the Gal Map. Can't wait to give it a try. On the Ferry back from Le Havre to Portsmouth drinking a rather nice red in sea state 6 at the moment.

My Anaconda explorer is called the 'Terra-Nova'. She got me to Beagle point and back on DWE and will be used on the Dead Ends Circumnavigation exped in mid September 3303.

This is the best idea imagine a pirate letting out a fake distress call or something that chucks a USS for all players to see. Enter at your peril and it works for NPC pirates why not players?

Anyways back on the subject OP so eloquently began: Engineering and the way people can get those higher tier blueprints. I am hoping we see more engineers post 2.4 who will open up blueprints to countering thargoid weapons and armour

I think the very premise is is rather illogical. Why would the faction offer multiple missions to kill different numbers of ships of the same other faction? A more logical system would put out a contract of the form "kill as many (at least N, at most M) ships of faction X, get Y credits per kill".

Yes. I agree to disagree. :) And I certainly agree that my thoughts about danger aren't something that everyone else agrees with.

This would be great, but unfortunately has the same problems that I'd forgotten to consider for existing ships. You'd need to have both the internal and utility versions of the scanner in game, as many existing ships will have both scanners fitted and all their utility slots filled.

Well, I am an explorer when I'm not being a racer. I'm certainly not a pvp player. Yes, agreed that a proper internal module wouldn't work out for explorers already out-there, I hadn't properly thought about that. :o A freebie module like the planetary landing module, as suggested by others in this thread would be fine though, as it could be patched into existing ships. I disagree with you that needing to recall your ship would be impractical to repair / refuel your SRV though. And I'd be 100% happy about that making some terrain dangerous. There's too little danger when exploring currently, and these changes while welcome all make exploration even safer.

How does the boost jump plotting work? Can it string several NS jumps together in a plot? Or J3 jumps? I've not had chance to play the beta yet. :(

I like the new limpets and synthesis and agree that synthesising life support supplies will make for much more epic stories than being able to repair breached canopies. This way a lightweight class A life support might be a worthwhile module for explorers, whereas it was pretty useless before. I agree with everyone who'd like some sort of delay and power/heat cost to all synthesis. Personally I'd like synthesis to require an proper internal module (rather than a free module), even if that meant that SRV synthesis could only be done by recalling your ship. I've never liked that SRVs are instantly repaired and rearmed by your ship, but not refuelled - so I'd be fine if synthesis (on your ship) was required for all three - or docking at a station to do it without synthesis. I've done a bit of SRV racing (I'm rubbish!) and repairing the SRV while flying at 200m/s or while somersaulting down a cliff is dumb. Needing to recall your ship for a 'pit stop' would be great. My only regret would be that it would...

You'll perhaps note my post is a reply to Brett, and therefore, primarily for his attention. Unlike you, he does know the timescales involved. Your post is pretty awful too, I could say. It's devoid of anything I didn't already know, which might give you some small clue as to the extraordinary nature of the post. Please look back at this forum, and see how much 'whining' I've done about DRX not being in-game yet. You have to set aside some time though because you'll be scrolling back to December of last year. SO, as for getting over it. Well, I'm not losing sleep, thanks. I do stand by everything I wrote however. Ah, so much more that could be said. But then it's not necessary. This is not your concern. I mean that in as sanguine a 'tone' as typed communication allows.

There certainly is. :D Take a ship where the current record is more than 24 hours. Fly it to Sadge non-stop (preferably several times and in less than 24 hours). Or do the same thing, but to BP. Takura Minari is my favourite crazy Buckyball cmdr, as I was at Sadge in The Nomad celebrating my then class record breaking 10h30ish run when he arrived in Orcan o' Whoop Asp after almost 24 hours non-stop jumping. Kind of put my level of crazy into perspective! :) Me n' Takura Minari, plus Anuranium, Kancro Vantas and F!sh if I remember correctly:

What? You flying to Hutton for the gin? Also great run(s) Bruski. That 180 was unconventional, but great. :)

I'm officially adding you to the As Crazy as Takura Minari Club. ;) Good luck and fly fast (hopefully at least 10 minutes faster!) :) During Double Action Jackson I found that they went from horrifying to fun quite quickly under racing conditions, whereas returning from an earlier trip to Colonia I hated them after three or four manually plotted jumps and just switched to travelling the normal way. I'm hoping to make the same tea-hauling run to Colonia as you, but using neutron stars, as practice for an A* run. Not sure it they'll stay 'fun' for 2-3 hours of racing yet. :D
