It's a common brought up logic error. Put simply: "Just because Johnny jumped off a bridge, it doesn't mean you should," "two wrongs don't make a right," "the straw that broke the camel's back," etc., etc.
Funny enough though, I have the resolve to not let Johnny jump off the bridge in the first place, nor have I lost a ship in well over a year of playing this game, because I think it should mean something to lose a ship, and I would do my damnedest to get someone stuck in an escape pod back to the bubble, if I had the option to, because it would be compelling and meaningful game-play. But yes, I understand that some people just want to eat their cake while pretending to have it. That's what games are to some people, I guess, fluff. I prefer a little more substance where and when I can get it. To each their own, but that is mine.
