I understand. If you check out my earlier reply to your first post ... ... hopefully you can see that (although I personally have hardly PvP'd in a big ship since 1.4), nevertheless I am sympathetic to their position.

No, Sandro just said that it was one potential solution to the RNG pain that they were considering. Nothing beyond that, afaik. Here's the quote:

Originally (source is from some backer) Elite expected much less players, hence P2P and small servers. However, Elite has experienced significant player growth so the small servers can't keep up and are overloaded. For some months now multiplayer connectivity quality has decreased and still does with more players playing the game in any mode. FDev so far has not annoucned any upgrades to the networking architecture or overhauls or any kind of improvement. Hopefull this is included in the "core gameplay improvements" after 2.4. After all yo ucan not improve gamepaly if there is no "play". Expect more disconnects and other connection related issues, especially in Open Play and frequently in supercruise. That said, weekends usually come with an increased number of issues due to the most players having free time at weekends, overloading the servers even more causing high loading times or timeouts.

Winterwalker, did you just propose that you personally could down the shield of an RNGineered PvP ship flown by a PvP-er, 1v1, you using an unmodded iEagle?

I was going to test this myself a while back but was lazy and instead asked Mark Allen, ED's Lead Programmer and 'Damage Supremo'. By coincidence, the ever-obliging Mark kindly replied last week by PM. Mark confirmed that when regular plasma moved from its previous 50-50 thermal-kinetic split to its current 60-20-20 absolute-thermal-kinetic split, the SLF Plasma Repeater did not move and remained at 50-50 thermal kinetic. TL;DR: Frontier have confirmed to me that the SLF Plasma Repeater is still 50-50 thermal-kinetic and has no absolute damage component. SOURCES

Well, whose word would you accept...? OK, here goes: Alexander the Grape - undefeated winner of Ooogie Boogie's 1v1 League - had a duel with Crimson Kaim - most noted independent PvPer - abandoned after 45 mins due to negative damage I duelled Xpressive - my PvP League record is fought 6 won 6 and after one recent Beta I published my fought 20 won 20 duelling record - my Courier v his Viper III - he could not drop my shield once, I dropped his multiple times but could only secure trivial damage between drops - I ran at 45 mins because I had a thin hull and he had phasing, otherwise duel would have continued until his module damage became too great, around 60 mins Pipko - undefeated and most successful duellist of SDC in 2.1 - we were talking the other day in game and on reddit - agreed that one reason neither of us puts up PvP duelling vids anymore is that the duels are so ridiculously long that nobody would want to watch such boring fights unless they were speeded up many times or edited - gone...

@sollisb please read this thread concerning redundancy legacy warnings: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php/346941-Please-remove-the-redundant-legacy-special-effect-warnings-from-NPC-attacks?highlight= You are being struck by unmodified plasma, triggering the thermal attack warning, or unmodified rail guns, triggering the impulse attack warning. There are 2.75 million purchasers of this game. Since engineered specials were removed from the game in version 2.1.1 not one single video or screenshot has emerged of an NPC using any special, and if they did there would be thousands of such vids, because specials like phasing, dispersal, thermal cascade and reverberating cascade produce immediately recognisable outcomes. @Frontier Two Developers have posted in this thread. Please check out my suggestions thread linked above. Here yet again we have the evidence that the needless continuing inclusion of these redundant legacy warnings is causing confusion. They have been, for over a year. Please...

Personal Shoppers are not game play. Personal Shoppers are short cuts. Selling to players simply gets you credits, the same credits that mining tungsten will still get you. I for one, am glad Elite is different. Earning things individually rewards everyone in the same way. This is something the game would lack if everything could be bought with credits. Let Elite stay unique.

Sandy, please stop tripping all over yourself to band aid the main problem- TTK is just way too high. You need to nerf effective HP into the ground. Yeah, it's not going to be popular, but overall it's going to be better for the game to just fix the actual problem rather than introduce all these weird and off kilter half measures.

Right, and the major reason that multipurpose isn't practical on a Corvette is the abysmal jump range. 23-24LY multipurpose build-range would be fine imo.

Meh, if you don't participate in PP enough to get a single Merit then having to click "pledge" again on the 26th is a minor inconvenience at worst.

Someone more knowledgable will tell you for sure, but I think that the passenger missions were the reason for the 5:1 nerf, hence pretty likely they're included, for that reason.

Off the top of my head...? Make g5 dirty drives, g5 charge enhanced power distro and g5 efficient mod weapons standard zero-variable items, purchasable in Outfitting, and delete everything else, including all special effects.

Almost! Being strictly accurate, 2.3 changed the system so that 20% of mission payouts goes to explo rank and 50% of explo data goes to explo rank. Hence 5m of mission payout would equal 2m of explo data, and both would equal 1m of explo rank. There's an excellent post here summarising the position:

The data in the linked spreadsheets is very helpful. For me, with some relief, it confirmed that my own base scanning schedule is as good as it gets ... ... as I just do all known M6H and S4H every two weeks. That said, like others I'm tending to the view that mission running may be more efficient, at present.

Madrax, it all depends on who you fight with. Any moderately regular PvPer is going to be fully engineered to the nth degree and you will stand little to no chance against these players. If you stick with PvEers who are willing to have a rumble with you, or set up agreed upon matches, then you should be fine to go forward with your plan. But I can't stress enough the disparity between a g3 ship and one that's been generated from hundreds of g5 rolls; there is simply no comparison, so beware.
