First off, congrats to OP on your find! As for Sapyx's post: yep, that's probabilities for you. The thing is, we only have very rough approximations for what probabilities might be, with many factors not considered. Let's use Chiggy's example earlier, where he said he believes that restricting the search to A8-A9 and F0-F4 gives you around 1 ELW in 35 systems. That ignores that whether a system has multiple stars or it doesn't has a big influence on ELW chances (for obvious reasons), and other factors we can only speculate about so far, like the sector's location in the galaxy, distribution of elements in the system, and even more other things we don't know about, as we don't know how exactly the Stellar Forge works. But let's suppose that it's true, and on a broader category (like A and F primaries), the hit rate would be 1 ELW in 50 systems. Mind you, probability differs from odds. In this particular scenario, we have 49 non-events and 1 event. From those odds, the probability would be a bit...

Oh dude.. don't get me started... Updates on Win 10 are the biggest pain in the rear ever. I frequently work with my laptop on multiple sites a day. The number of times windows has decided to start a gigantic update when I *really need to go to the next job right fracking now!* is insane. Set up schedules you say - sure.. Except, in all their wisdom, MS decided that no one is allowed to work more than 12 hour days. Which, in fact, I do. The install window for my work machine is 2am-5am. That's it. Any other time, I am highly likely to be working if the PC is on, and thus, can't afford for it to just take over and tell me to "please wait". For heavens sake, even OSX lets me keep putting updates off indefinitely after bugging me. Set up a metered connection you say... Sure, except doing it for every damn wireless connection is annoying, and then, most times I connect with an ethernet cable, and this is not an option, because, clearly, if I am connected to wifi, I may have dowenloa dlimits, but an...

Dukrous, Golgot sent me his files and we concluded that the 2D.xml and VR.xml files are corrupt. Delete them and let EDP rebuild them. Then you can readjust them to your liking. Please lmk if that fixes the problem. Quite weird you both had that exact problem at the same time.

Actually, the UI for this game is quite poor. It seems to me that the people doing the UI (generally speaking) are not really UI/UX people. Simply purchasing an item for your ship proves this - there are about 2 steps too many in the process. The inability to directly bind docking requests, for example, and the need to have scanners on fire groups(!) is also a mild sign of madness, in my humble opinion. I know they are trying to go for the "flicking lots of switches in a space ship" thing, but that feeling only really works when you build a simpit, and have lots of switches to flick - or at the very least, a HOTAS like the Warthog. The ease of which one can activate self destruct (it really should require some sort of code), not to mention the location of the "Erase commander" function. Why is that even in the same place as choosing which game mode you want? If anything should be buried deep within the bowls of a UI - that's it. I do hope it's something they'll work on during next season. They...

I think Steam actually stores files for ED in a different location. I've changed PC's a few times now during the life of ED, not to mention building an additional PC to play on, but I find if I am not doing it regularly, I keep forgetting where the files are, and what I need to rename that text file to. Anyways, the cutting and pasting of the "Frontier Developments" and "Frontier_Developments" folders under the user/Appdata did the trick (for the non steam version).

My plan is to use the Rift for combat, and EDTracker for when am am doing stuff that requires lots of keyboard interaction/galaxy map interaction. I have bound my HOTAS to the Galaxy map, but it's still nowhere near as efficient to plot a route as a KB+M. I do wish there were a "flatten galaxy map" option for selecting routes for VR (make it work like in normal 2D mode). Thanks for confirming my Open Track suspicions - I'll be downloading it tonight and having a good go. Hopefully, I can get it acting like how I have the Track IR setup, which doesn't make me nauseous. I'm all excited for giving it another crack tonight! Z...

I know some people who will be pleased about that. Also notice the gutteral growl of the T-Rex near the end. Now compare it with the gutteral growl at the end of the Thargoid Return trailer. Similar n'est-ce pas?

Grats on the improved time! Not sure if it's very very bad. Crazy perhaps :D Should be easy to do under 2 hours with an optimised ship & route. Last time it took me 2 hrs 24 mins without any pre-plotting and with shields, SRV & scanners. Plus plenty of mistakes.

Interesting idea. This strikes me as a kind of "legal disguise", as it were, a kind of cloaking device of hiding in plain sight. Perhaps if bounties were increased 500%, that would suppress it better?

Hi, trying to interpret your error list, it seems that either VR.xml or 2D.xml are blank? Or at least missing the < binding > tag. They are found in Documents\EDProfiler\Defaults Can you check, and perhaps email them to me: kaii@dr.com and I'll have a look. Speaking to both of you. p.s. thanks for the lovely donation!

So basically, we're all agreed then? We play the game the way we want to and ignore those who try and tell us otherwise.

Mine arrived a few days ago, and I've put in one session (about 2 hours) at a Compromised Nav Beacon. I've also got a Track IR, and an Oculus Rift. Now, I, for some reason, find myself getting nauseous with the EDTracker. Track IR allowed me far more freedom in terms of adjusting the curves for looking around. I like the centre to be quite dead, so that the screen is not moving around because I scratch my nose or yawn or something. The wireless thing, however, was very nice. I suspect I need to spend a little more time messing with the software and settings, though I suspect the fact that it acts like a joystick in ED may be the reason I can't make the adjustments I'd like. I'll keep messing with it, but perhaps Opentrack is the way to go to make better use of it.
