    we are at maia, at least i am. i want to mention for no special reason that i have flown my cutter out there the first time since it got dirty drive tuning ... with cargo. where is the special note in fat big red on top of the thread for people like me @kietrax that a) building fabricators can be bought 5 ly from maia and b) there is a shipyard out there now? :D

    heads up: the first mega ship changed its controlling faction by an election. looks as if the BGS treats megaships like other assets. and faction of the mega ship fisher rest expanded from their 100% influence system aldebaran, following the usual rules. might be interesting to test whether the same can be done the other way round.

    a war will block lockdown, minimum duration 4 ticks/days after it went active (not sure when that was) you can always transfer moduls and ships to another station, even when the station where the module or ship are is in lockdown.

    A thought: Alioth was in lockdown when I was doing my engineering there. That should disable outfitting? If so, then will the module show as available when the system is no longer in lockdown, or has it been lost? It still does not show on my list of stored modules. Would that mean that the bug is really that I was able to buy a new PA from Bill Turner in the first place?

    The Dropship makes a solid miner with it's decent internals and I reckon it looks the part too!     Fair point well made.... If the option is only to go up and say handicap the player by a % of hull/shield or damage output then I suppose it doesn't hurt. I was under the assumption that the OP wanted a full range of easier than the standard, as is, and harder than the standard. To be honest if it's that big of an issue then balancing as a whole should probably be adjusted.

    First, OP You're either wrong or your game is bugged. Using planets as brakes works just fine. You just need to understand that not all planets are massive enough to brake all speeds. Controlling your orbital radius, speed, and dynamic throttle setting for maximum time-efficiency is a bit of an art form in Elite. 2nd, the rest of the post in this thread are wrong about physics. RL Gravity assists are used to increase/decrease velocity with respect to a 3rd body and the direction of the orbit. The game uses different physics for interplanetary travel whereby SC (alcubierre-type) bubbles are disrupted by the space-time curvature of gravity wells. This sci-fi game mechanic makes logical sense since we're talking about a highly localized curvature being disrupted by a larger scale radial-distance based curvature.

    1/8th completed, at 1000 in the sequence, with a total of 1264 searched. There were several "dry spells" in the sequence, one of just over 100...and another of nearly 200, where I found absolutely nothing. That being said, towards the end it picked up, and I still managed to find 19 in the sequence up to 1000, for a hit rate of 1 in 52.63. I searched 264 out of the numerical sequence, finding an additional 8, for a hit rate of 1 in 33 (which shows extreme promise for the rest of the subsector) the over-all total so far, is 27 found in 1264 searched, for an over-all hit rate of 1 in 46.8 Once I reach the 1/4 finished point, I'll feel more comfortable making a prediction of total number of ELWs I believe to be remaining in the subsector.

    Just guessing here, it could be a mission filter kicking in, e.g. I'm at 100% 'None' in my current system, have been for a few hours and no ascension missions appearing. Usually the Navy missions are smuggling missions in this system, I only have 8t cargo space, so ascension missions requiring a larger cargo hold, are filtered out. Try increasing your current cargo space and see what happens.

    I've posted this several times over the past few days. That doesn't make it less funny but: A group called the EIC told the online community there was a really profitable trade route here. Then hung around to observe the results. (6g world). In short anything over 1.5G is a challenge in an underpowered ship (sub A grade thrusters) Anything over 2.5g is a challenge in a fully powered ship (A grade thrusters)

    Just picking up a few comments on a difficulty slider and why I think other solutions are needed: Game difficulty is intrinsic with the game because it's an online game and solo can go into open and vice versa. FD cannot simply do what they want with solo because solo isn't standalone. Credits are effectively Xp. They lock access to certain things like ships/weapons etc. Making credits easier/harder to come by affects the "progression" in the game massively. Most MMO's control experience by having levels and locking certain areas/items to keep a level of progression and balance. Elite hasn't got that. Other MMO's use storyline progress to lock weapons/upgrades. Elite has not got that either. The three things Elite has are: Ranks, naval ranks and areas. Arguably there's some locking done via ranks and more could be used but its a "play it your way" game. My personal thoughts are that specific areas should be used more. Threat level USS are a good start. CZ and RES levels are too.

    i own both. FDL is a beauty, and surely excells at bountyhunting, but also every other way of combat. it's the largest ship which still is a small fighter ;-) FGS is my preferred fighter carrier. if you like to pilot larger ships (like python and conda), get both.

    I raised this in the Q&A livestreams. Both in 1.4? and 2.3 exploration profits were raised, with passenger missions as well the Elite rank of Exploration is by a significant margin the easiest to reach. Powerplay Li Yong Rui makes it even easier on a pure exploration route with certain ELW and similar then being worth around 2.4mil credits. That's 67 worlds (not even first discoveries) needed for that. I personally think the 160m credits profit should either be significantly increased, maybe even doubled. Or adjust the PAX contribution % to the rank. Or make it have multiple requirements such as distance travelled, total bodies scanned, systems visited, km driven etc. Make it a true all around rank requirement. Similarly combat could be amended to be a requirement of combat zones, bounty vouchers, capital ship routings (for Elite rank) and base assaults. Player kills too maybe although that strikes me as perhaps a step too far. And trade could have a mining/trading/missions/smuggling element. I get...

    I'm pretty sure that the effect you are experiencing is not down to the buffed influence effect of bounties, but an effect of multiplying positive actions per superpower aligned minor faction. as the number of actions goes up, the effect of each action goes down ... to back that up, here quoted a carefully worded support answer: "lots of positive influence effects" and "actions for other factions" are the important words here imho, as the system mentioned has 4 superpower aligned minor factions. each single superpower bounty redeem would count as 4 actions, creating 4 "positive influence effects" - at least that is what i believe is the case. so reducing the influence effect of bounties wouldn't be a solution to the underlying problem.

    So regardless of the topic in question: Why should Frontier explain their thinking behind any change? Surely there are only 3 possible explanations anyway? 1) They thought it was the right change to make. 2) It was unintentional and should be highlighted to be fixed soon. 3) It's an as yet undecided parameter and they've changed it to assess the impact and further changes can be made based on feedback. So in this case I'm gonna guess 3 since interdiction rate and difficulty has changed almost every other patch since 1.0, it's part of a constantly adjusting parameter. Submit feedback and see what happens, there's a sub-forum for that. As for them explaining changes. Lets not start that, there's a few hundred lines in every single update. Devs having to explain every single change and the reasons would probably take a livestream every single night from now until September.

Born Oct 3272, Mars, Sol. Initially joined the Federal Navy after showing marked pilot aptitude. He has served both the Federation and the Empire as a deep space explorer, a bounty Hunter, a trader, and in covert operations.
CMDR Voorheez is politically independent but serves the Imperial and Federal Navies, holding Officer rank in both.
