a war will block lockdown, minimum duration 4 ticks/days after it went active (not sure when that was) you can always transfer moduls and ships to another station, even when the station where the module or ship are is in lockdown.

I'm looking for in-lore game mechanics, ideally, not a trophy, and certainly not one from you... ;) :P It should mean something to be "Elite" in the game. Sure, some players don't really care for that sort of game. This is just a casual arcade space shooter for them to unwind after a long day of scamming the elderly, or whatever it is they do that drives them to this kind of mentality. (I'm intentionally joking here, by the way, just so no one takes me too seriously.) Anyway, I'm not one of those players. ... But yeah, thanks, for what it's worth. o7

I have the Elite rank now, and by the time I get back from my current expedition, I will have earned it the traditional way, and without neutron star field farming nor cherry picking ELW and the like. Too bad that's no longer really a thing reflected at all in the game though. "Imagination" only takes you so far. At some point you need a little substance to fuel the fire, or you burn out, or don't even bother in the first place. What can beige do for you?

Just a suggestion here. If you are going to big up SC here (and you are absoloutely within your rights to!), then if you say something like "SC is damn good fun", then a screenshot isn't going to cut it. Either post of vid of what you did, or at least explain what you did that was so much fun. Sure, you'll need to be prepared for negative feedback... but at least you would have something better to stand on than just a screenshot. We've all seen screenshots and videos... we don't see much in the way of gameplay. That's.... erm... inch wide, inch deep at the moment, at least from my perspective. But hey, whatever you find fun right? I love exploring in ED, and there are those who can't see the attraction. I have lots of fun exploring, they say "jump, honk, jump, honk". To each their own... but at least give a little detail. Otherwise you just sound like a marketing drone. What did you do to get so much fun?

I would fancy making things harder but its not that easy, there isn't a Solo play of any kind, its all the same game just with diffrent matchmaking options. But I think a way to make things harder would be nice and I don't think anybody would mind some players making things harder for themselfs.

For those who are pining for newtonian physics in space, erm... how exactly would you think that would work in ED? Its a multiplayer game. You can't speed up and slow down time. They they allowed a single person stardreamer kind of effect, well, that would also not be proper newtonian physics, it would be kind of cheating to make it work, as time is a factor in any sort of calculation like that. Add onto that, a vast majority would need autopilots to get around. I'm not sure how many people are remembering Frontier through rose tinted glasses, but if you tried flying between planets manually it was damn hit and miss, and one mistake could cost you massive amounts of time. Now, imagine that unleashed on the general population.... ugh.

First, OP You're either wrong or your game is bugged. Using planets as brakes works just fine. You just need to understand that not all planets are massive enough to brake all speeds. Controlling your orbital radius, speed, and dynamic throttle setting for maximum time-efficiency is a bit of an art form in Elite. 2nd, the rest of the post in this thread are wrong about physics. RL Gravity assists are used to increase/decrease velocity with respect to a 3rd body and the direction of the orbit. The game uses different physics for interplanetary travel whereby SC (alcubierre-type) bubbles are disrupted by the space-time curvature of gravity wells. This sci-fi game mechanic makes logical sense since we're talking about a highly localized curvature being disrupted by a larger scale radial-distance based curvature.

i own both. FDL is a beauty, and surely excells at bountyhunting, but also every other way of combat. it's the largest ship which still is a small fighter ;-) FGS is my preferred fighter carrier. if you like to pilot larger ships (like python and conda), get both.

Claims we need a "difficulty slider" in a persistant, multi-player galaxy is errant nonsense. With a bit of work, we could have a virtual "difficulty slider"-as determined by security level & system state (both of which we are now warned abouf prior to jumping). Hi security systems-unless you're wanted by a faction within that system, then these systems should be a cake walk. Interdictions would be rare & easily evaded-meaning you can choose any combat on YOUR TERMS. Medium security systems-again, unless you're wanted by one of the factions in this system, then it should be quite easy....just not a cake walk. Slightly more frequent interdictions, & slightly more difficult to evade....and the NPC's at the other end will tend to be a bit closer to your own skill level, & some occasionally with low level engineered modules. Low Security systems-reasonably dangerous system, frequent & quite difficult to evade interdictions, with the NPC's on the other end being slightly below to slightly above your...

I'm pretty sure that the effect you are experiencing is not down to the buffed influence effect of bounties, but an effect of multiplying positive actions per superpower aligned minor faction. as the number of actions goes up, the effect of each action goes down ... to back that up, here quoted a carefully worded support answer: "lots of positive influence effects" and "actions for other factions" are the important words here imho, as the system mentioned has 4 superpower aligned minor factions. each single superpower bounty redeem would count as 4 actions, creating 4 "positive influence effects" - at least that is what i believe is the case. so reducing the influence effect of bounties wouldn't be a solution to the underlying problem.

reducing the influence effect of bounties would be no solution to the multiplication of actions via superpower bountie redeems, which leads to diminuishing effects for any other action in system, and is a large part of the current frustration of many player groups. i'm with schlack here, basically, the superpower bounty effect as we probably see it currently requires a lot of cmdrs and random traffic. i still remember the original implementation of powerplay, when only after beta the effect of that many crimes in systems were visible (and FDEV later on changed powerplay action to non-crime in BGS terms).

well, i also can't really have a good suggestion... as said before, i think there are 3 problems with the implementation. - multiplication of actions (superpower bounty redeem) by number of factions leading to diminuishing effects (if that is the case, which i belive). I have no idea, how FDEV fixed the 1-t trading exploit, but i assume that they somehow collect several small transactions per cmdr per instance or something, counting several actions as one action. maybe they have introduced a gate, like only trade actions of 10 t counting... i don't think that could be a solution for superpower bounty redeems, as those are redeemed by different commanders, though. if the BGS algorythm can work with fractions of actions, that would be another way (in a 3 superpower alligned minor faction system with 60%, 30%, 10% give them a 0,6 action, 0,3 action, and a 0,1 positive influence action)... but i assume, that both things aren't possible with the current way influence is calculated, so i simply would suggest to...

Changes to Interdiction need to be part of the broader changes to the C&P system that Sandro keeps alluding to. Not easier or harder, per se, but where the frequency & difficulty is in line with the system you're currently in. Anarchy & Low Sec systems will cop the most frequent & intense interdictions, whereas Hi-Sec they'd be few & far between, & easy to evade. Security levels should also, obviously, impact on how good the AI is at the other end of the interdiction. If you want a Milquetoast, then stick to Medium & Hi-Sec systems.....if you want a REAL challenge, hang around Anarchy systems.

The tools that currently exist are extremely weak, though, & undermined by an overall lack of persistence in NPC's. I wouldn't object to an increase in bounties, if there was some real effort involved in bringing them down. I have also said elsewhere that I want a more granular system of Wanted, so you can differentiate between a petty crim & a notorious crim.

I listed them all above. Make bounty hunting a real HUNT. Track wanted ships from Super Cruise into rings, by riding in on their low wake.....& interfere with their hunting of mining ships. That's one to begin with. We already have combat oriented USS's too.....have a look at my post a page or two back.

Why not tackle USS's, that are rated by threat level, & usually come with in-built security support, or Nav Beacons, or target easy NPC pirates, in ring systems, from Super-Cruise, or select easy bounties from Starport services, or take on missions that require you to destroy pirates. Those would give you some nice, easy combat experience without the need for RES's, which are really just a hold over from the pre-release game.

Because they're so gamey & artificial & non-challenging....even to a newb. Plus they serve no purpose that other new & existing game features couldn't fill.
