I think you're missing the gist entirely. I'm not making a simple IDS vs ADS argument. I am saying that the best scanner mechanic would be a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT one with infinite discovery range (for sufficiently bright objects) that was manually operated and gave a level of details based on: 1) distance (physical angular resolution limits) 2) quality of equipment (speed and size based angular resolution limits) 3) skill - the ability to focus machinery like a camera and pick the optimal frequency ranges to match the signal emitted by a particular object This scanner should also work on any stars that were visible in your local sky.

I saw that you posted in the other thread too, fundamentally I guess you are talking about reducing the perceived causes of CLogging, the thread I linked to discusses the difference between 'ganking' (use of needlessly excessive force to overwhelm an opponent), griefing (where the intent is purely to childishly frustrate other players) and piracy, a commonly accepted form of PvP. There is some difference of opinion on whether CLogging is a result of being ganked/griefed (I'll just refer to both concepts as ganking since intent is often difficult to establish), or whether ganking is the result of frustration from players CLogging. It's a chicken & egg debate & clearly both are bad so I don't really care which came first. However ganking uses in-game mechanics & as you say boils down to more experienced players attacking less experienced (or simply unwilling) opponents, CLogging is using an out-of game mechanic to deal with the consequences of poor in-game decisions (or maybe just bad luck). So...

Well lets be fair. Combat mechanics of PVP have received probably the most attention of any aspect of the game to date. They've gotten the lion's share of the patch notes for every major release. That being said, yes the actual reasons and theatres for PVP activity are exceedingly shallow, and virtually invisible. Thus far, (apart from Salome) PVP events have been almost entirely of the community's making. I would love to see real ship tracking mechanics for hunting down wanted/notorious players, less buggy instancing, consequences for clogging, and community law enforcement mechanics to keep malcontents in line and living in the shadows rather than dominating the scene. Also perhaps some kind of galaxy's most wanted list, and galaxy's hottest bounty hunters too. If they combine this with a more rich and varied Power Play that actually had human incentives in mind, and/or created a BGS sim were people could align to minor factions to fight off super powers, go to war with each other, and just...

I love how King5ton claims how "he wants to be positive" about E: D......yet he is on my ignore list, which is usually where only the extremely rude & rampantly negative people end up ;).

Tell ye bran...we know yer face now and just so happens Im not gonna be doin much later, possible because I sense a banhammer swinging somewhere...hairs on the back me neck are up lately So I thought itd be really cool if I call at yer place later, maybe say bout ye to the missus and insist we all sit down like civilized folks do. I took the liberty of leaving it till much later...aye I know, 2 in the morning is actually a fair wee bit later but I really thought we could come to a better, and more informed decision when it was just the 4 of us...alone... Yeah so anyway, sorry what was that? Ah ye the ski mask...so heres the thing...ye dont actually need to see our faces, just our eyes. The eyes dont lie when ye look into them, so we can have a very honest and frank discussion about this...this confusion ye appear to have. Sorry what that that? The baseball bats? Now now, lets not get caught up in technicalities...lets think of them as motivational items fer now. We can put a pin in it and revisit...

I wasnt calling ye one so no need to get a bee in yer bonnet...Im not following the thread so had no idea who was on it or what has been said. I read the op, repped him because I agreed and guessed quite rightly what would happen which is why I avoided it. Im not dismissing yer opinion because I dont know what yer opinion is, although if ye feel somehow provoked on a personal level by my off the cuff remark, I can take a fairly good guess. And tbh I just cant be bothered arguing about it anymore...whats the point? A circular debate and one is fully aware of how frontier feels about exploration, ergo its just players arguing over something that none of us can change anyway. Im at the point where I fully agree with the op, but Im done exploring and suicided back because my heart just aint in it anymore. Words are cheap at this p0oint...only thing that will make me less skeptical is action cos like I said, words are cheap and we really have heard it all before and beaten that horse to the point of...

If yer just chewing up the distance distance Id D rate everything but the fsd and the powerplant, and just transfer out the modules that are both a rated and engineered...everything else ye can get here. Although I say here, Im in ganktown putting an exploraT9 together. There really is no A rate stuff in colonia at all...just a point to remember if ye go from a viper to something bigger and ye cant get a half decent fsd. Best fsd I could find anywhere was a C rate although I dont know all the stations. I only really stayed within a 50ly radius of jaques fer a week just exploring what was different...last time I was there, it literally was just jaques and the concept of colonia was just kicking off. Good luck cmdr ^

I would hope the presentation will be similar to the EGX 2015 one, where they revealed the entire Horizons line-up.

Pretty much, but I would go one step further. The act of honking and point and wait mechanics are more like eating flavorless styrofoam packing popcorn. What's really sad is that the absence of any interactive gameplay where greater depth of exploration = greater CR rewards, people have been conditioned by object-based reward values to think of some systems as being amazing and more valuable and others. When in truth, some low value tiny mass "500 CR" iceballs are among the most beautiful and fascinating back drops for Exploration. But currently there is nothing to do once you get there except collect a 500 CR paycheck, snap some picks, and move on. But... Imagine a game were ice balls were as interactive as a Haz Res for a miner or a trade CG filled with blood thirsty bounty hunters for a pirate. Where the rewards in CR per hour extended to match the more in depth gameplay, so no one felt they were short changing themselves by sticking to any system they choose to spend extra time in. And...

The honk is the bread and garlic butter you get before the meal. Not really part of the actual meal. The follow up mechanics is when you dig in. After investigating, the screenies of the now new and improved surfaces are the coffee and brandy which you enjoy on the porch enjoying the view of the setting sun.

Colonia has a fully functioning bgs, although ships cost significantly more and ye need to go to ganktown if ye want a rate modules as they don't exist beyond C and D modules. At last count, I'm guessing I've found about 60 to 70 outposts but others have said there's almost a hundred. Its literally a mini bubble just without the moron element and is still currently the only place where one can play in open 100% of the time...different class of player here who just wanna get along together...unlike ganktown ^

Ive never used Twitter in my entire life, don't even know how to. I'll stay in solo mode no big deal, was just curious as to why they banned me from there is all. Solo play is flawless btw ^
