Wow, never seen the funding chart drop below 400/hr before. Its been quite depressed since 3.0 was released to Evocati. Be interesting to see the month results. Remember, CIG plans its work based on how much funding they get each month. :P

Which is quite amusing since CryEngine ships with a pretty decent animation engine to start with. But then, CIG had to refactor it because of how CR wanted it to work, and then they refactored it again beacause the first refactor didn't work so well. By the time CIG are finished refactoring everything to suit their needs, they might as well have developed a custom engine from the ground up.

Offshoot, that's so funny. There was a time when SQ42 was meant to be thing that would lead players into SC. And it would be possible to do multiplayer as well through the campaign. And of course, you naturally spend millions on doing mocap and recording famous actors for an offshoot. :P

FD have already decided the way they are going on that, and its not a complete rework. You'll still have to grind if you want those great rolls, but each roll should inch you closer to the ultimate god roll... eventually. :P

Yeah, list is pretty poor from what i see. The most telling thing for me though is when talking to my gamer friends. Most haven't heard about Star Citizen and when i discuss it they show no real interest. Can talk about all sorts of games with them, even games that are still not even under development, and have a good chat, but SC.... just blank stares. When i mention Wing Commander, some of the older ones will say "Oh, right, i remember that", but that's about it. Its not too different to ED either. Most are not aware it exists, although when i mention the world Elite many remember the original with fondness. Considering that many who are interested in SC/SQ42 already bought into it many years ago, i cannot imagine that upon release they will make too many sales. Not unless its the best space game ever. And that remain to be seen, should it ever see release. Saying ED is getting slammed with criticism is quite misleading, but that possibility certainly exists for SC if it fails to live up to the...

Aren't you just complaining about the results of killing unwanted CMDRs? You're choosing a bad boy life here. Got to be some consequences for that. Why not seek out others willing to duel, both turn off report crimes, or head to an anarchy, and have your fun. No kudos to be gained from killing trade ships (except in certain salty circles).

I have no idea what your beef is here. I simply asked OP how they would feel if FD gave them a pile of cash. Would they stop playing? Would they still continue focusing on credit? Or would they change how they play? I asked a question, i'm waiting to see if OP answers. That is all.

    1) This is a game, not a life and death situation. 2) I actually do prefer a level playing field for PvP, and its why i don't like PvP in ED. I want to know if i win at PvP, its because i had the skill to win, not because i spent a month grinding CIF to get a few % extra on my dirty drives. And of course, the reverse also holds, if I lose, i want it to be due to skill, not because the other guy was grinding longer.

Well, in theory the game can give that with the rank requirements for missions (which are not really requirements, but suggestions). The problems seems to be that that part is borked. Elite missions often seem to be about as difficult has Harmless missions.

I did actually read it as their entire motivation for playing was earning credits. The underlined part seems like a pretty clear statement.

Hmm... so, what would you do in game OP if for example FD gave you 100000000000000 credits?

Yeah, my experience of surface scan missions is the bases now are barely defended. Not even any ships nearby. Maybe a bug? Did you try reporting it? Actually, never checked the mission ranks. Is the problem perhaps only low rank missions are spawning, or whether the high rank ones are not giving defended bases? Might be worth checking. Assassination missions i've found to be a bit bland as well. Always just 1 ship... not much of a pirate lord. I remember some patches back pirate lords would usually have an escort of 2 or more ships. Even if they were just eagles. I'd like the higher ranked assassination missions to be more of a challenge (and also give +++ REP/INF). Slightly amusing how even the Harmless ones have to going after pirate "lords".... some improvement could be done there with the text. Something like "amateur pirate". Anyway, instead of letting these things get to you, there are other things do than just a few mission types. I sometimes take a break of a week or so, but rather than get...

Hold on, don't confuse grind with time sink. Yes, there must be time sinks. Without time sinks, everyone can be Elite with max ranks and a stable of the biggest ships really quickly. That is not desirable from a game design perspective if you want players to keep playing. You might not like it, but its needed. Whether those time sinks are big enough, or perhaps not big enough, is a matter of debate and subjective opinion. Grind is also to some extent necessary, if by grind you mean performing repetitive tasks. Simply because there is no way in a game like this FD can create enough custom and engaging content to keep giving people new experiences all the time. Once you are a few hundred hours in you will have had the chance to experience already 99% of the game multiple times over. Basically its a complaint largely about how many hours you have spent in the game vs available content. So, (for example) FD add a new way to get ranks, new content, and then, within a few hours, people have already...

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Imagine the horror of being hunted down by a wing of Torvald Shields and Alliance Enforcers, both equipped with their insanely powerful Mining Lances and Retributors. Throw in some Kumo Crew with some Cytoscramblers for some real excitement! You're operating under the illusion that all the PowerPlay equipment is useful, balanced and better than existing weaponry, and this is not the case for quite a few of the powers.

Not something i want to get drawn into discussing in a PvP thread. If you want to discuss PvE combat logging, we can discuss it in a separate thread in another part of the forums.

I'm sure you will find some PvPers who enjoy Engineers for the edge they can give themselves over other players. Not all PvPers enjoy a level playing field. As Kerrash noted, for some its simply about the win or dominating, and they don't care if skill is not the only factor in getting the win. As a PvEer, i enjoy Engineers, so i'm glad you excluded me from your definition of insanity ;)

Not sure what else i can say to make it clearer. I responded to a comment by Zaphod asking what Carebears (ie: PvEers - at least, i assume that is who he meant, using a rather wide brush there by the way) are whining about. I noted that PvEers shouldn't have anything to whine about, since this topic is of no concern to them. I'm sure i've heard it said many times by people that by entering open, you are consenting to PvP, and therefore, anyone playing in Open cannot be considered a true PvEer, and by extension, a Carebear. Following this logic, its a 100% PvP issue, and no reason for PvEers to whine about. Erm... i think that covers it. Oh, and that combat logging against players and NPCs are differnt matters and topics for discussion in different places.
