I haven't had a chance to look at it yet - but I fully expect you are still right :D

This really isn't about making exploration risk free, it's more about making more ways to play the game. And even if i die and drop 40KLy of data 2 jumps from the bubble, the risk to me going back for it is the same as on the first run - I may well die again.

His lulzbucket overflowed and he typed some stuff. Nothing really newsworthy or that hadn't been posted before unfortunately - just like whatever we get from CIG :D

Oh, I agree that they could make more of player customisation - it encourages participation and would make people want more paid cosmetics. Space mirrors outside of stations to admire our lippy in. Galnet should be full of pics of players' avatars and ships as they accomplish things, and NPCs should be chattering about us: "Have you seen Dread Pirate KiteN in his custom FdL? Scary!" I made this suggestion last week: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php/338784-Player-Puff-Pieces-on-Galnet-A-Way-To-Motivate-Cosmetic-Purchases!

See this is the dilemma of the comms panel: it's essentially a fully featured instant messaging client within the game. And if you think back to when ICQ, MSN, Yahoo!, Gadu-gadu, QQ, and even stranger beasts ruled the earth, everyone wanted their own display style - big chat heads, small chat heads, icons, background wallpaper, speech bubbles, mergeable consecutive messages by same sender. By adding 'chat heads' to the UI, Frontier have opened that Pandora's box again and are having yet again to build out one part of the game to the same fidelity as standalone apps that are developed by entire companies in the real world. Having spent years as an IM client developer and implemented themeable contact list and message panes, I was quite glad thankyouverymuch when we only had 7 bit ALL CAPS text messages. Has there been a feature request to support emoji in messages yet? Can we have an XMPP gateway to Galnet Messenger?

I was thinking this as well - the scooped data is essentially only accessible to the original owner and Universal Cartographics, who deduct a 'location fee' if it is returned by a third party. So scooped data is only worth credits. Now here's a tough one: What happens Cmdr A loses the data, Salvager B scoops the data but is then destroyed before it can be claimed?

I'd be interested in some background to this too. I assume it is to limit experienced players using Multicrew to rain credits on new players or alt accounts.

Nope, not really. We've been told that the Magical 3.0 will reveal the ultimate greatness of the Vision - but there's no sign of that yet.

What planet tech would that be? Star Citizen may be pretty - but I wouldn't call it a highly detailed universe :D

First off - try it on a different computer, then a different USB 2 port on the motherboard. Then try a powered USB2 hub attached to a USB2 port on the motherboard. Unplug the PS/2 cable between throttle and stick and make sure there's no bent pins, and plug it back in fully. Check your event log for USB2 power issues. If still no joy, and its under warranty, send it right back. If its out of warranty - and you feel like performing surgery, take it apart and look for pinched or chafing wires inside, loose sockets, and cracked or lifted solder joints.

There have been many people at CIG who are no longer there for one reason or another. However, what really matters is what they do with the people they currently have, and the product they are all working on, and what they deliver to their paying customers. Ben Lenslock, Disco Landrover and Tylenol Witless are all still hard at work acting and developing and waiting to flip the various Netcode, Gamecode and VR switches, so everything will be just fine!

It's all lost in the soup - but I seem to recall 3 or 4 mass walkouts / sackings taking place at CIG.

They are just getting ready to build a solid technical foundation upon which the lulzbuckets can be piled to high heaven. Endless repeats of stuff with no actual progress or product delivered - Star Citizen seems to be more and more like daytime TV - and with the increased focus on these "shows" that they insist on producing for no logical reason, that's exactly what they appear to be aiming for.

Just sit back, relax, and enjoy the lulz. CIG provide them in absolute buckets, and look likely to just keep delivering lulz for the rest of eternity, as they don't seem willing or even capable of much else.

So if FD Secretly forcing anyone who plays in Open into running full Meta? It would be like saying before engineers everyone ws being forced to fly corvette and before corvettes and cutters it would be like saying everyone was being forced to fly an Anaconda

It was a joke Captain as I stated later on... none-subtle satire is clearly not welcome here. I'll try something more obvious in future, possibly to the tune of yakety-sax.
  6. I saw the subsequent post correcting any mistaken impressions there. Will give that a +1 when forum-machine allows me to.
