    I refuse to believe ED in its entirety is the game David Braben wants. He probably has a firm stance on some things - e.g. the realism of the galaxy, planets, scales etc. I strongly doubt that elements like RNGineers were ever part of his vision.

    Would still make more sense to use Anacondas instead. Roughly same amount of cargo (= limpet) potential, but more agile, faster, better jump range, more durable, better armed.

    Sorry for being a slow here, Drew, but does that mean I won't have to fear to see the words "Smiling Dog Crew" and "Harry Potter" in the book? Because, if this were the case (they DON'T appear in the book), it would actually dramatically improve the chance of me reading it. I enjoyed your first ED book a lot (Reclamation), and think it's really the best ED book by far, so it would have been a shame to have to skip your new book just because you might have felt obligated to mention those questionable "subjects".

    I am experiencing this issue, too. If I first quit to the main menu and then from there to the desktop, it seems to happen less often, but sometimes still gets stuck and has to be killed manually.

    I am experiencing this very issue with the system Turdetani right now. Could not select it on the galaxy map, thought it might just be a UI bug (not registering my click), initiated a jump from the nav panel, have been in the hyperspace animation for several minutes now. Edit: After eventually killing the game process and restarting, I found myself in the system in question, and everything appears normal.

    I was thinking that too. Multiple mocap studios set up by CIG to perfect their high-fidelity movie, and rent capacity and expertise out to other parties and make a bit of extra cash. So how do they then have to do mocap in a lunch area that takes about 30 minutes to set up, and require repeated repeats?

    The goal is not to satisfy anyone, but it should act as a deterrent. Whether the planned system can accomplish that goal is another question, of course, and i doubt it.

    I am very sure all the numbers on burst and pulse lasers are per shot (except the DPS itself), so their breach damage is per shot, multiply this by the rate of fire and you get a breach damage comparable to beams. Beams just have all numbers on a per-second basis because there are no shots.

    I just did some math. To compare burst vs beam. These numbers are for class 3 gimballed (my primary weapon type on the Python). I know I won't go with 3 beams because 2 already cause enough heat (to the point where I sometimes are limited by heat and not distributor draw). Since the third class 3 hardpoint currently holds a rapit fire pulse turret which I am not very picky about potentially losing, I wanted to see how 3 burst lasers would stack up with 2 beams. Also, since the plan is for long range mods, these numbers would still hold up after engineers: Beam x1: DPS 20.3 BRD 16.2 EPS 5.58 HPS 7.61 DPE 3.64 DPH 2.67

    Well there's also that. I prefer lasers in general and the only ones I'd ever put overcharged on would be pulse, and for these i am doing fine with rapid fire anyway.

    I just hate the base-hack-against-the-clock gameplay. While a lot of engineer mats are annoying to get (e.g. fly around for USS in systems in a specific state), I find the base hacking so stressful and aggravating that I have just decided MEF don't exist for me. Yeah, that also means no multicannons for me (where overcharged is king), so i stock mostly to lasers with rapid fire, long range and efficient (depending on laser type and loadout).

    I was thinking more of a comparison long range beam vs long range burst, not going to use overcharged on any weapon because I have no MEF (and I refuse to play the utter terrible way left to obtain them).

    While we are at it, how does the larger breach damage of beam lasers hold up vs burst lasers? I tend to go for the power plant on larger enemies, so this might be a plus, but I can't really tell how much of a difference it actually makes.

    I have also grown fond of long range lasers (except for turrets, where I use rapid fire or efficient). I've got a pair of decent long range beams on my Python, but lately I have been wondering if burst lasers in their stead would be better. They're much more DPE and DPH efficient and the DPS loss is not as big as with pulse lasers. However, I am not sure if I should spend any effort on engineering new items before we know how 2.4 will deal with the new gear vs old gear vs engineers...

    Wow, this looks so good I feel tempted to get myself a Corvette to make it look like this with the ship kit. You even make the spoiler look good and fitting (normally I am not a fan of spoilers, but here it looks just right). I could afford it, I have the rank, so... I'd have to engineer it and with 2.4 looming over us, we still don't know whether and if yes in which way that will screw over our previous engineering efforts. In other words: If engineers were not a thing I would go to the store and buy the Corvette ship kit right away.
