The comms panel (default key 2 on PC) second tab.
There should be a small number beside the icon on the tab indicating how many unread messages you have.
Even if you are running a mission at the time it is rarely all that critical to you, just some new delivery time bonus or a follow on mission or surprise surprise some pirate wants to attack your ship.

They’re in the messages panel - and not usually all that critical. Usually I receive these after donating to the cause or donating to avert a medical emergency w one of the minor factions. They notify me they’ve made a few bars of gold w the credits I donated and added them to my hull w mission specs. Also time bonus and I coming enemy alerts.
