Thread: [Information] The Galactic Mapping Project & Expedition Hub

  1. #2701
Not sure if its important/of interest but I visited 'The Nest' (System: Pyriveae FK-C d14-72) today and took a few pictures that show the updated planets at the noted coordinates to update the old photo (with the old moon surface) used in the EDSM entry.

    More Guardian Ruins

    Hey guys,

I don't think I'm the first to discover this, but I was surprised to stumble on a system with 5 Guardian Ruins and it wasn't already on EDSM or this list I've been using.
However it is in the main Canon list.

Name: Skaudai Nebula Exiled Guardian Ruins
    Game map search ref: Prua Phoe US-B d86 Planet C 2 and C 3
There are 5 sites across these two planets.

Instead of being blown apart by the intense solar winds, the gas giant emits a blindingly white glow. Explorers who venture too close to the object will find their instruments in total white out. The object's apparent surface temperature of 9456 kelvin should easily cause the object to fly apart, as it lacks the mass needed to form even the smallest of stars. This object is similar to The Mysterious Light ; both are currently unexplained by modern science."
Noooo!!! From 3.0 patch notes: "Prevent extremely bright lighting for some gas giants"

tbh I'd love to contribute, I have a little manual- like an analog little book where I##ve written down my M giant cluster, the twin dwarves, some fumaroles I found.
sadkly all your programs dont work with ps4.

I'm thinking about juts making up a google doc-sheet and just putting in whatever interesting stuff I find and dumping it somewhere- any interests?

  6. #2706
    Name Guardian of the Twins
Game map search ref Byae Aowsy GR-N d6-52
Description While I was on the Minerva Centaurus Expedition I found this system with a ringed Earth like world orbiting a binary Class III gas giant. The system also contains another Class III gas giant with moons. On one of those moons, 4 D A, I've found a fumarole site. This could be a nice waypoint for future expeditions. The coordinates of the fumarole site is: Lat: -67.9876 Lon: -103.2627

    Name The Majorelle Blue Gate
GalMap Ref Scheau Byoe BA-A G2052 (or Scheau Byoe BP-A e1323)
    POI Type Stellar Features
Description During the Perseus Survey, I discovered a planetary nebula (Scheau Byoe BP-A e1323) which isn't really astonishing in this sector but in fact, the point of interrest of this planetary nebula is the black hole 13Ly away which is pretty rare. Indeed the Black Hole is close enough to reveal the beautiful deep blue gradient. It creates wonderful screenshots and can be a beacon in the area for future explorations.
    Screenshots

NB : Majorelle Blue is a well-known painting color. Another thing ; I don't know if I have to mark this system as a Planetary Nebula POI and then tell there is a BH near it or as I did a Stellar Feature POI... Indeed if an explorer searchs the planetary nebula in EDSM it would be nice to know that there is the POI (in the case this POI is accepted of course !)

    Astonishing.

    Update of POI

    Name: Syrivou NC-D d12-7 Geysers
    System: Syrivou NC-D d12-7

Went there today on my way to Beagle to check out the Geysers, sadly it seems 3.0 busted them (at least at the coordinates listed in the POI, the moon in general is still active according to system map). Was at the Coordinates +15.2019, +14.1096 and no Geysers to be found.

  11. #2711
    Name: Circulum Acies

    Game Ref: Greeroi GG-H b29-0 ABC 3 a

    Type: Minor POI's

Description: During the Beagle Point Expedition of 3304, exploration in the vicinity of Greeroi MD-Q d6-5 (Greeroi Depot) revealed a moon orbiting only 0.63Ls from it's ringed Gas Giant. It's position almost edge-on to the rings, and close to the Greeroi AA-A H3 nebula makes for a beautiful landing spot. The terrain is comprised of deep valleys and flat plains, making it suitable for exploration stopovers, SRV prospecting, and more challenging fighter-based explorations of the canyon floors. Signs of Major Water Geysers have been detected from orbit, but as of yet no exact location for these has been located.

    - Kyloall BF-A f2322, the "Great Glowing Ball of Kyloall", perhaps the most famous, not far from Jaques on the Colonia-Sag A line. The only one I have visited to date and can post screenshots of; some screenshots from myself and the discoverer can be seen in this thread posted by the discoverer.
    - Gru Phio EL-Y e21
    - Wrupu CW-N E6-68
    - Fleasi MS-U e2-301

As for consideration of their inclusion: my main concern is about their permanence. The GWGs are, undoubtedly, a graphical glitch and may be corrected by FD in the future; there's certainly other odd stuff reported happening with planetary illumination in GWG systems (see my sixth picture in the thread I linked to above). The green ones might be considered graphical glitches by FD too, but it might be tricky to change those without completely altering the appearance of all gas giants everywhere.
Just confirming what Klepto posted above, and verifying my prophecy from nine months ago: all four of the Glowing White Giants I listed in that post I quoted above are now, since 3.0, perfectly normal-looking Class V giants (albeit with unusually high temperatures, but that's not really a map-worthy POI criterion). I would suggest that their POI pins now be deleted, as there's nothing really unusual to see there any more.

The GGGs remain unaltered and radioactively green. Since one of them now has a tourist beacon, I would assume FD have no intention of editing GGGs away.

Damn it FDev. Why must you take away things we like? :/

Greetings CMDR here have some of my find during my last trip. Hoping i wrote comprehensible english...

    Name
    : Pamplemousse
Game map search ref: Dryeou Flaae OM-W d1-4
Description: In the sparse zone of the Tenebris Region, Pamplemousse main star is a Yellow-Orange giant (more than 36 solar radius) star with two others K at proximity (less than 150ls) and a M companions stars.
Such a massive star is a rarity in such a desolate region and and it's a gorgeous view against the deep black sky of the galactic fringe. You can enjoy the scenery on one of landable planet, especially the nearest (653ls) one or just refuel on this gigantic scoopable star before venturing farther in the black.

    Name: The Misty Moutains
Game map search ref: Bleethuia RL-Y d5
Description: The powerfull radiations of this White Dwarf near the 'Flying Flea' Nebula, melt occasionnaly the frozen crust of numerous Ice bodys causing seasonal and localised fog of stranges ionized composants. These mists are concentrated in the craters and canyons and could be thick enough to partially hide the nebula and the stars in the sky.
This phenomenon is particulary visible on BLEETHUIA RL-Y D AB 4 A, the first moon of the gas giant of the system, but it can be observed on almost every landable ice body.

    Name : High Five !
Game map search ref: Eupaipy NY-Y d1-74
Description: This system in the Bleak Lands of the Scutum-Centaurus arm seem normal at first : a F star with some Y brown stars around. But every gas giant here are in fact Helium Rich Gas Giant, making a total of 5 of them on one system. It's not the record, but this system can help scientists to understand better the formation of such rares Gas Giants.
Everyone of them are ringed or have landable moon to a better observation of their variety (they come in red, brown and blue color).

For the Misty Moutains... It was before 3.0. So i don't know if the fog is still present with the planetary surface changes... Maybe so nearby CMDR can check ?
