Nope, The Prefect is both the main character and the title of the book.
BTW I did read the first couple of Hyperion books, some neat stuff but a bit too serious quasi-religious spirituality meaning-of-life centric for me.
Ah - must have got it on kindle, then . Very good book. He's really matured as a writer for sure.
I know what you mean about Hyperion - definitely more going on there that isn't entirely Sci-Fi. I see now he's gone on to even more genre-bending stuff, and I couldn't bring myself to try it after reading the reviews - shocking, I know!
Honk Result: N/A Signal Source Contents: 1 USS (Single pirate in an anaconda. Nothing of interest on-board.) 1 WSS (Single lone sidewinder. Nothing of interest on-board.) Action/s Taken: N/A Observations/Notes/Findings: 0 NPC's in supercruise. Signal sources are very rare. In 3 hours of searching I only came across 2. Anomalies Encountered: None
For any fellow scientists that are interested, I will be updating the Canonn Research Archive throughout the day with our results from Operation: Scour. This should make it easier for anyone wanting to see which corridors have been surveyed so far should they want to participate.
I'm on my way to Merope in solo. (not in Mobius in the beta maybe my join request will go through before the day is out who knows?)
Anyway, I was just passing through Aries Dark Region GW-W D1-52 System (More or less in a straight line between 64 Arietis and Merope), saw a SSS and dropped in 'just for drill' and yep! UA. Scanned me the instant I dropped (got the ship scan message). It's very noisy - I'm 168 metres away and it's doing the whole repertoire. Question: Now what?

Lucky! I passed through there as well and didn't see a thing!
Are you in 1.4? I only ask because the ship scanning has only been reported in 1.4 right?
Honk Result – Zilch – approx. every 500ls
Signal Source Contents – 1 SSS – had two Wrecks crop up near it, went for SSS – Python Medical Transport with 3 Vulture escorts – Cargo: Scientific Research 1, Occupied Escape Pods 5, Performance Enhancers 7, Progenitor Cells 8
Action/s taken – Attempt to nab Scientific Research, failed
Observations/Note/Findings – Failure to nab Scientific Research not exactly helped by period without Shields at 4 Pips. Boogied at 27% hull to continue scouring. What are these things for, since from comms chatter clearly not mundane S&R retrieval of Escape Pods, perhaps delivery of Super Soldiers or pilots of experimental or simply ‘secret battles’ vessels? No way to confirm contents of scooped Pods a mite frustrating.
Anomalies Encountered – None
Honk Result – Zilch – approx. 500ls
Signal Source Contents – 1 Wreck – 3 WSS
Salvageable Wreckage field within damaging corona of star but just outside of ‘dropping out’ exclusion zone. Wrecks identified as Anaconda possibly also an Asp or Type-9 from apparent cockpit section (heavily mangled) also found in a rather large debris field. Quite possibly simply coincidence that it was 5 Escape Pods found here and 5 being transported by the Medical Convoy along other corridor, but noted in case. Of personal note that it was not wreckage of a Clipper.
WSS 1 – 5kLS out - had 2 wrecks pop up nearby while on way to it – 5 Commercial Samples, a new one on me, from wreckage of an Eagle, so putting this down to pure RNG.
WSS 2 – 8kLS out - 7 Microbial Furnaces – wreckage believed to be of a Diamondback
WSS 3 – 17kLS out – 6 Rare Artwork – wreckage of an Anaconda, looking quite nice hanging on the Obs Deck. Suspect McCann nicked something. Will search his bunk next time he’s off his face in that hold nook he thinks I don’t know about.
Action/s Taken – Scooped all but the Microbial Furnaces.
Observations/Notes/Findings – Commercial Samples were a new find for me as was finding a Salvageable Wreckage instance with more than one ship’s hull strewn about, though the latter was hardly unexpected. Awkward getting into the Wreckage thanks to being so close to the star; minimal damage. Think Tamsin hid in the shower during approach, poor lamb. I’m positive I told Ms Fiermonte to tell her the cold water is the first to heat up as a result of these older Annie’s internal heat control protocols. Horrible scalding and burns. Still, McCann’s good with those, if little else. Fiermonte seems quite quiet but I'm sure I saw her smirking.
Anomalies Encountered – None.
Bagsy next Outer System Corridors - Pleiades Sectors KC-V C2-10 and HR-W D1-74
Can't scoop it: not equipped to deal with the damage. if anyone wants to come and stand by in either open or Mobius, I'll scoop, save, enter the same mode and drop sharpish.

[edit] In fact, better let me know here: I'm not seeing anyone in friends online on the comms panel.
Just got your Friends link-out. Thought we were already Friended up. Beta thing, perhaps. You are currently registering as in Solo Play, so assuming that's right and me being only about 5 minutes out, how does the following sound?
I shall post back here on Forums when in system. You then (temporarily) scoop the UA, then go into Open, then we can meet up and I can take the UA aboard the Bifrost. (Will likely then sprint back to 64 Arietis to fully repair before returning to Merope for more scouring and being on hand with UA. And shall return UA to you when/as you request.)
Scour Update - Forget that I had bagsied those Outer System Corridors mentioned above. Would be foolish to pursue them (for now) now that I'm looking after Silent Pact's UA Snoopy. Taking a break and shall be heading back at around the turn of the hour. Given UA-on-board limitations, shall be concentrating on Asteroids stuff rather than Signal Hopping, also on-hand for any particularly pressing UA necessities.
