I guess I haven' seen those critters yet as I have no idea what ya'll are talking about.

I *did* just manage to build a power cell recharger, though, which was one of my goals over the weekend. Heh. That and the water desalination machine. I'm a lot more prepared now for some exploration.

My previous hardcore save had just gotten into that area, before I got killed doing something stupid.

Current hardcore save discovered a blood kelp biome really close to home. I don't know how I missed it on my previous save. Blood kelp and deep shrooms are now growing at my home base. Food and water sources are now secured. Still need vehicle modification bay, thermal generator, nuclear generator, and the Prawn's drill arms. Spent half an hour last night dodging crashfish so I could get enough copper to establish my first ring of sensor stations. This should be a lot easier than last time, thanks to the propulsion cannon making fishing so dang easy. Last time, I had to wait for a lantern tree to mature before I could get the bioreactor operational. A dozen fish should be all it takes to keep the sensors running long enough to collect the materials I need to build a solar array in situ.

I finally completed the blueprints for the Cyclops, but I still have no need to build one. I've always used it as a mobile mining platform, and the Prawn can't mine at the moment.

Don't forget a grab trap is really easy to make and one of the first things you can pick up.
Just make one and stick it near the base, it will grab ore, salt and fish.. Also big big fish too..

    Happy hunting

I 'finished' the game today. I say 'finished' because, despite my recent obsession with this game, I found myself getting a bit burned out on the crafting lately.

After I got to the last story location (no spoilers her) I just didn't have the will to craft stuff to wrap up all the remaining tasks. So I used the console. lol.

I had explored pretty much all of the biomes at this point, too, so I wasn't feeling the 'subnautica itch' so much. Not to say I discovered everything in the game... far from it. Just that I felt I had seen what there was to see and I was just ready to end the story.

That's my defense for being a dirty cheater.

Once you've cought your breath a little, I recommend trying the creation mode. I enjoy it immensely, despite also struggling with my third playthrough.

It's really realxing. No food, health, oxygen and all the other stuff. You can build what ever you want (I went really crazy with the base to a point where I started feeling the performance issues, which, according to reports, happens with 1000+ pieces) You can turn off the fauna aggro and cuddle with Sea Dragons and all that stuff.

I can feel my interest in Subnautica waning, too. It's a great game, but I'm just about ready to turn my attention to Kingdom Come. Bring on that Bohemian rhapsody!

    KCD is a time eater.
Subnautica, however, especially in creative mode, it's just something you can turn on for ten, twenty minutes, look at colours, relax and then go and do something else.
If you have the slightest feeling that you might enjoy this type of game, you WILL enjoy it immensely.

I was really surprised that I enjoy it immensely, to be honest. I don't play survival games, I've never tried minecraft and I kind of hate water. But here I am.
(I'm not paid for advertisement, btw. )

I'm in the same boat. I don't do survival games, and I have barely touched minecraft since it was in alpha.
Something just clicked for me with Subnautica. Even though my interest has waned a bit now, I still thoroughly enjoyed my 30 some hours in it.
