    No Time To Panic

No worries” CMDR Lucke thought as the ship screamed “EJECT, EJECT” and his RemLok dropped him into suspended animation before shooting his escape pod out into the black depths, the last act of a dying ship.
He recalled that thought now, watching the countdown timer of his escape pod’s power supply. The power level had dropped below the level where the pod could keep him suspended, but that timer was working just fine thanks and counting down to power failure. Five minutes. Four minutes. Three. When it hit zero the air would stop and he was very alone out here.

Last weeks show was won by the wonderfully talented Ales and she has picked this glorious subject for us this week

    GO FORTH AND MULTIPLY

    1. Drabbles must be 100 words exactly (Excluding the title)
    2. Over-use of-hyphens-to keep your word-count at 100 is very amusing but probably not a great idea.
    3. Keep it as clean as you can to suit the family forum rules here, so no frogs attached to anatomical parts.
    4. Only the first 20 entries are guaranteed a place in the (usually weekly) poll.
    5. 1 entry each, you may write as many drabbles as you want, but it is assumed that your first drabble is your chosen entry unless otherwise advised. But please mark Drabbles that you don't want entered as such.
    6. If your drabble is under or over 100 words you will have a chance to correct it before the poll is erected, at this point, your drabble may be DQ'd if other drabbles are available to take its place.
    7. Drabbles must be set in the Elite Dangerous universe (as loosely as you care to make it).
    8. It should try to meet the theme in some arguable way.
    9. If there is more than one theme you must match at least one, but can gain extra votes if you meet more.
    10. It's all for a bit of fun, so enjoy yourself... Enjoyment is mandatory!
    11. If you win, you get to submit next week's Drabble topic, so make sure you post it by 3pm GMT Monday. Or else chaos will ensue and who knows what will happen...
    12. You must big it up and get the Drabble Show over 100 viewers, that would be amazing.
    13. Every winner can be the owner of up to 1 abrakadrabble mug.
    14. No animals were harmed in the making of this series (Simoof is not an animal)
    15. If we get over 25 entries, the potato will host it nude.*
    16. The Title must also now be under 100 words (not including the title to the title)*
    17. Extra points for Kow-tipping.*
    18. Futuristic Kung Fu is not allowed to question the rules, change the rules or even know what the rules are.
    19. Nick Kershaw is the real singer of 'Never Gonna Give You Up'

Sometimes it's difficult to know what constitutes exactly 100 words. Our arbiter is
    www.wordcounter.net
It doesn't matter if it's right or wrong. Its count is the law.

So submit your drabbles in reply to this thread, and the first 20 will be guaranteed entry into this weeks poll, and read out on our live Show Friday night.
Entries close at Random O'clock on Thursday evening (or sometimes if we have 20 entries earlier). All Drabbles submitted up to Friday Afternoon will have a good chance of being read out on the live Drabble readiing show.

New winners each week now wins a prize ...

    Birds Of A Feather

    THE UNIVERSE is OUR PARADISE!"

"GO FORTH and MULTIPLY across these green, brown, yellow and blue worlds!"
"FILL EVERY CORNER of the GALAXY with our offspring and take DOMINION over ALL the lesser life-forms we encounter!

I would never have believed it had I not seen it for myself, read those very words translated into common Galach by the Xeno-psych boys on that alien world we smashed,
transcribed from an ancient scroll in a beautiful, destroyed building that was now being called a “church”.

Who would ever have thought the Thargoid's religion would be so very similar to our own?

    Hungry

"Okay! We put the two broken scanner units into the container. The repair nanobots know what a scanner unit should look like. They decide which is going to be the donor unit."

The researcher tipped a vial of glittery dust over the units, closed the top of the glass box, took out a remote control and pressed a button.

"Isn't the container supposed to be nanobot proof? They're eating through the glass!"

The researcher was horrified, "It's okay. I can stop them before they scavenge anything else." He looked in his hand as the remote control there crumbled to dust.

Since 100 word Drabbles are so much fun, how about adding an exactly 500 word "Quingentesimus"?

  7. #2932

    Show me the honey.

The commander was bone tired but exhalted as he strode into the lobby and approached the counter. He'd done the job and collected the precious artefacts in record time and now he got to get paid.He slid the small cylinders across the desk, their surface slick to the touch, seeking to surpress a grin of delight as he thought about how he would spend the huge bonus. His smile turned to a frown as he saw Ronnie looking at him curiously.'What's this?'.'It's what you asked for!'''No,i said handles for forks.'The sound of distant coughing.

    Gurgle

It had multiplied rapidly, splitting into thousands of copies
It had also mutated increasing it's potency exponentially
this mattered little to the victims who lay in a pools mucus and pieces of their own organs
the raspy chest driven cough and the constant gurgle of phlegm in the throat
This new strain was different, the virus had learnt that in the zero-g environments of spaceships
the host wasn't as nessissary to carry forth and multiply. It simply hung dormant in the air
waiting for the next victim to inhale a lung full, multiplying before killing.
    The first galaxy wide pandemic.

    THE LAST

The Thargoid warrior was the first to speak, a weakened voice across the void. Adrift in the shattered remnants of a hundred-thousand ships, kept alive in his spacesuit, the Commander heard the words in his translator, his eyes roved across the battle carnage.

“I and you may be the last. Our races are the only two intelligences the galaxy has ever known. We die here and the galaxy dies with us. Or we go forth and multiply. We find a way to pair.”

The Commander scanned the Thargoid floating a few hundred meters from him. ‘Female’, displayed on his helmet-HUD.

When Life Gives You Lemons, or something like that

She had a majestic frontage and a smile as welcoming as the station lights of Hutton Orbital on your last scrap metal run. Ales stood with pride outside her new botanics store. No one knew why she'd closed her successful, if quirky "Spicy Spoon and Greasy Nut" cafe. Rumours whispered about an infestation of pungent mould.

At this late hour very few customers were about, almost all disappointed hungry truckers, until one rare goods trader, happened to happily happen by.

"Those look new. Are they beauty products? For skin application? Refined?"

"Well, cultured certainly", Ales winked, "I grew them myself".

Am i too late to add mine into the mix?

    Title: The Fifth Elephant
    By Fletch – Aged 7 and ¾

Commander Noob-Eeee accidently hit “clear save” and had to start all over again in a Sidewinder.

On his first trip along the interstellar “get rich quick” path, he managed to turn his 200 credit starting wallet into 350 credits, by buying low and selling high.

On his second trip, the 350cr converted into 500cr. The 3rd trip, 500cr became 800cr.

On the next journey across the cosmos, he discovered an undiscovered pirate base where he sold his cargo of Wuthielo Ku Froth for a very tidy sum.

He had went for the fourth go and had multiplied his profits nicely.

Very last minute, but we're low on numbers. And self esteem.

Stars danced in front of his eyes as he panted down the coridoor of hutton.
He felt a vein in his head bulge from the effort, sweat oozed from everywhere.
He panicked and span around , knocking several people over.
He spotted the toilet.... so close by.
His legs gave way, and he fell face down. An enormous brown volcano erupted from his bottom, right through his trousers.
"What was in that curry?" he heard someone cry.
"I don't know, but the bit that landed in my mouth wasn't that bad" was the reply.

"Shame he didn't reach the toilet though."

Thanks for the votes. This does of course mean I have to come up with a topic for the week. And my choice is..

    Crime and Punishment

*some rules are most definitely fictional

  15. #2940
As his final moments approached the pilot known only as Asylum reflected on the moments leading to his death. In hindsight, the decisions leading to this point could only be considered reckless, however without risk, reward just seemed….well…pointless.

Only 2 people knew the location of the treasure for which he was now about to die. The theft of which would have made him rich beyond his (or anyone else’s) wildest dreams. As he stared back at the torn and twisted wreckage of his once magnificent Cobra from the blackness of the void just one final word crossed his mind; bu%%er .
