Thread: EDDI - Windows app for immersion and more

well I hope jgm steps back in, eddi is very very good but I've looked at the code and it'll take a very good coder, as jgm obviously is, to pick it up. Sutex, despite you seemingly trying to prove that I'm against eddi you are very very wrong. MaterialCollected is just a placeholder, there is no code in it that does anything. Good luck though, atleast I don't have to help and deal with your attitude anymore

Does anyone have answer to a problem I and a friend are having with EDDI, well actually it's Window's TTSpeech? We can only hear the voices if we use our speakers, no TTS output comes through on our USB headsets. Both Windows 7 and Windows 10 seem to have the same issue. I'm sure someone must have a solution? Please help.

In the next version, is it possible to add a row in the Material Monitor to put the translation of each material by the user, and retrieve these translation in the materialmonitor.json, so, for any player of any country it will be more easy to use.

The best would be to use the translation if the column is filled or to use the material in English if not.

Is anyone here going to the Frontier Expo?

It might be helpful for a few attendees to advocate for fixes to some of the things FDev have broken over time in the data streams EDDI uses. See here (https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showth...=1#post5405801) for a detailed list of items JGM has identified as having been broken by changes in the data FDev provides. Essentially, FDev removed useful and detailed information from the companion API and did not add the same information to the journal, leaving us without the detailed information we previously had available on our ship builds (including engineering), without detailed data on cargo, etc.

FDev has, for a long time not given much consideration to 3rd party app developers. So much so that many of them briefly went on strike earlier this year (https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showth...down-our-sites). FDev needs to hear from the playerbase that we care about the player journal, companion app, and other tools used to make our gaming experience richer. The Frontier Expo might be a great venue for getting a conversation going with the right people.

I think EDDI is not uploading system population correctly to EDDB or EDSM. I made a few jumps around the Pleiades and noticed EDDI didn't know the systems were populated. I tried to find out what was wrong and noticed the population numbers in EDDB were wrong for the Pleiades systems. I updated them manually in ROSS.

I should have been uploading system information with EDDI though. Is EDDI failing to update population for systems when it sends data to the cloud?

One of the systems was https://www.edsm.net/en/system/id/22...tor+IR-W+d1-55

Population are only a manual process, no API/Journal gives them.

I work for a translation of EDDI 2.3.0 for french users, I speak already about this in the french part of this forum (https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showth...ossible-OUI!!!) and open a GitHub page https://github.com/Astilane/EliteDangerousDataProvider With scripts and User Interface in french. Not yet totaly finished, but work fine. (miss translation for some rare)

I would like to 2nd this. We as a community of 3rd party app users need to take whatever opportunities are presented to support the 3rd party developers.

I'm going and would be happy to ask some questions. As my understanding of coding is limited (but not completely noobish ) I would invite scripted questions that the community would like answering. It would be great to know if jgm is intending to attend. I'd like to shake that man (or woman's) hand.

    oh thanks, that's very helpful!

Do you know if there is a way for me to help correct my favorite systems in EDSM? I corrected some of them in EDDB, but those changes have not been applied to EDSM.

    Greetings Cmdrs and developers.

I upgraded EDDI yesterday to the latest version and the update will not authorise due to an issue with the ivona voice I used in the previous builds ..I checked the message details and it seems my license for ivona has expired, I don't know how or if it's possible to roll back the build as EDDI tells me it's a mandatory update.

So I'm thinking I need to remove the voice from the EDDI system files, can someone point me in the right direction please.Either that or find me a patch for ivona I haven't even had a response from them

I just don't enjoy playing without it and have become so dependent on the information it gives.

Thank you and fly safe Cmdrs

Good to hear from you again Cmdr ...I bought a lifetime license back in February this year for 4 voice packs ...I've since checked the voices with TTS and there's no issues , I think it's something to do with the ivona reader or some dll file messed up ...I just want to know how to remove the voice pack from EDDI as a next step

    Thanks László fly safe
