Thread: Balancing Mission Rewards

  1. #46
Whoops. Look's like there's an unintended oversight again. Better revise FD.

Passenger missions were ok I thought.

Wasn't the problem that trade missions were too low?

I hate to add on to this cause I don't to sound like I'm bashing Frontier but based on what I'm seeing, the normal missions are still way too low. I just logged in to check the payout in one of my mission runner locations and I'm seeing missions that were paying six figures and upwards before 2.2 topping out at the high five figures.

That seems like it still could use some work if you ask me. Is this what they're intending the payouts to be now? Because I would need to mission stack like crazy now just to pay for the fuel for my Cutter doing smuggling runs.

I'm not trying to bash here, I'm really not. But can't we get to a point where we were before this update? Because right now even with this pass I feel like I still can't do much with these payouts

Just a quick post to let you know that we've made a few balancing tweaks this morning with regards to missions in the game. Many mission rewards have been increased, while passenger mission rewards are slightly decreased to create a better overall balance across the board. This balance is part of an on-going process and we will continue to make changes as required.

Additionally, we've fixed an issue whereby passenger missions will now award points toward the correct Elite rank.
Looks like you broke passenger missions while "fixing" them, because I'm pretty sure no-one is going to transport passengers for 31 consecutive hours of playing time just to get 10 mill at best. Hell, since passenger missions have a 1 week timer, you're basically asking us to play more than a full day during the week to travel these insane distances and if we actually do something this crazy, we get peanuts as payment. And this assumes maximum speed and minimum scanning while under way. If you're actually trying to look around once in a while, it's more like you have to take a week off work to complete a long-distance mission. For that sort of crazyness I wouldn't bother until I can actually get something worthwile out of it. Neither 3, 4, 5 or even 10 million credits is worthwile, by the way. I'd start thinking about doing long-range missions if they paid out at least ten times of what they pay now. Start, mind you. (The longest of course I wouldn't be able to take even then, since I have not enough playtime or mental endurance to play Elite for 30+ hours a week.)

Seriously, this must be another bug, right? You didn't really wanted to nerf passenger missions into the ground like this, right?

Right now these missions are basically unplayable. They'd be doable, or even fun, if you multiply payout by 10x plus give us a month-long timer instead of a measly week. If I had a month time to do it and get 100 mill for it, I'd seriously consider transporting a tourist to the center of the galaxy and back. For something like a week and 10 mill though? I'd have to program a bot to play for me to even make it there in time! It's simply crazy. [wacko]

Bravo! Everyone complaining about Hauling missions to get a post 2.1 buff and Frontier Nerfs long-range i mean really long-range passenger missions to the ground.Hell LRP missions was already paying lower for my taste and now it's like, "sell all the cabins already back to the bounty hunting" level.

yup, passenger missions are not right... I understand this is low rep with the faction that is offering it, and the distance is not far, but if folks wanted to raise said rep they sure as hell aint gonna do it with passenger missions :(

That doesn't look sexy anymore. I understand some Missions paid surprisingly well for a 90-120mins roundtrip, but that seems a bit of an over-correction :

The long range missions before were a nice bonus for the effort, but not a time effective way to make money. With these new numbers, they are without a doubt not worth the weight of the passenger cabins. the 30-100 million was a low, but reasonable, payment for the effort.

Did you accidentally nerf it TO 10% instead of BY 10%?

I just wanted to say that I just completed a round trip 5000LY mission that had over 2 weeks to its timer, unless you're saying the timers were bugged?

Nope, not gonna happen. Not for that payment. The super-longrange ones... *uhm* no way. I'd hardly consider these for 10x that payout.
I'd rather go mining in a Rocky or Icy belt, even these Missions pay more for a considerably lower time investment. Even Independent Mining in my local Pristine Metallic belt gives me far more bang for the buck.
(and I'm primarily not really looking at the Credits - I don't really need these - but mainly from a BGS work/effectiveness perspective)

What still seems okay upto quite good are the ShortRange Bulk PAX Missions, seeing some normal/unchanged ones there.

Disclaimer : just a "first impressions" quick overview of what I found on the PAX Mission Board.

    Thanks you, Frontier! Now, tell me how can i pay my 45m of rebuy? ¯ \ _ (ツ) _ / ¯

At least this clears things up, this is clearly a bug. Hop to it, Frontier! We're waiting for the fix.

So it seems like there is a total amount of money in the universe that can be used for mission payouts. If the trade payments go then the passenger missions have to go down.
So I propose that frontier do some quantitative easing and inject more credits into the universe so that all the mission types can pay well enough and we can have enough of them on the boards...

They must have changed that, then. During beta it was 1 week even for 10k ly+ missions. Still, two weeks is still nothing. That's just making it physically possible to do for the real long-range missions. The best thing I saw (during beta, so it's probably out-dated) was a mission to transport some idiots to Beagle Point.

Now I'm sure you can do even 60k light years in a week if you're a robot who does not need to eat or sleep, but everyone else would be [redacted] in the [redacted] when trying this. At least that mission would have given you ~60 million credits. Now? Probably two weeks timer and 1/10th the money. Not really an upgrade.

Thank you for increasing the payout for regular missions but I have no idea why you would lower the passenger missions.
