Mysterious Encounters and Sighting Near Merope

On Thursday January 5, we received reports that CMDR DP Sayre had a run in with a craft that was unlike anything any Commander had seen before.

The mysterious craft seemed to shut down DP Sayre's ship systems entirely. According to the video data he transmitted back to the bubble, he appeared to be pulled from hyperspace mid jump. You can watch the video transmission by clicking the button below.

The Galactic community took to the forums to discuss their findings in detail. You can see their speculations and debates on what has been found so far in the forum thread here.

The Elite Dangerous subreddit community have been just as enthusiastic, with hundreds of posts on the event within minutes.

DP Sayre was not the only Commander to experience the strange encounter, with many more pilots reporting mysterious activity in the hours that followed. You can see another transmission sent by Remo Williams from his Asp Explorer.

We are intrigued by the findings of these brave Commanders, and can't wait to see what the scientific community do with the information they've gathered so far. Good luck out there, Commanders... stay safe.

The Colonia Council has launched a second initiative, once again giving the galaxy’s minor factions an opportunity to establish a permanent presence in the Colonia Nebula. For this appeal, pilots have once again been asked to deliver a specific commodity to earn their chosen faction a migration visa.

Balones Gold Touch Systems has placed an order for materials to develop advanced deep-space probes. The organisation hopes the probes will reveal more about what lies beyond the borders of our galaxy.

The Alliance campaign to construct a planetary outpost in the California Nebula has reached a successful conclusion. As the initiative drew to a close, Alliance Prime Minister Edmund Mahon extended his gratitude to those who supported the campaign, saying, “The Alliance means freedom”.

Well we know there is data to be had from scanning the alien ship and the unknown wake it leaves behind. So you need this stuff either to unlock some future engineer, or as part of a future engineer blueprint. Soon enough we'll be farming alien encounters for these things...

I used to get this emailed to me but not had one for some time now is there something to click somewhere so it goes back into my email rather than reading it via a link from reddit or here?
