    My 3d Printed Vulture

I was able to find a 3d model of the Vulture so I had one 3d Printed Here it is. I made it just for fun It's made using the SLS process and not FDM. It's rather diminutive, and the US 1 cent piece is there for size reference. Sorry if the photos are huge.

If I ask nice, would you share how you did this? I'm getting a reprap put together now, and would love to do a full run of E ships with it, ideally in scale.

I doubt that's been done on a reprap, the build quality is too good. I've got a reprap, plus most of another I'm building, but I couldn't print that small to anywhere near that quality.

That was made using a 3d Systems SLS machine. FDM can't get that kind of quality; I wish it could! It's actually smoother than the 10x lens I used shows it to be.

I'm planning on a bigger scale, I have a nice big print bed to offset my coarse deposition size. It's mainly the process of how the models get from the game to some printing software that has my interest.

I'm actually imagining my FDL, done at about 8" in length, and a 45' angle on the bed, to preserve the curves better. Not sure.

Alternately, if you don't want to share your process but know somewhere on the web that the models have escaped to, I could take it from there.

I wish there was a way to extract the models, but I don't know how they got the Vulture out of it. I found the model on Grabcad, but all I could find was the Vulture. Personally, I think FDev could make some money by selling small models of their ships. I'd really enjoy having several collectable ships on my display shelf.

Here's the link to the model:

Thanks, that's not nothing. If I make any progress getting other models out, I'll let you know.

When I saw Ship Kits on the store I was all excited. Then I saw that it was in-game bits to stick on and I was less excited. But I still bought a set for my Cobra Mk III.

But I would love to buy an actual model ship about 2-3" long.
