Thread: 2.3 Beta 4 Changelog

  1. #46
    Awesome thanks!

Multicrew change request: Can you stop the Helm's Flight Assist notifications sounding in the fighter? It's confusing when flying the fighter, I keep thinking I've accidentally toggled FA.

Thanks Ed and the Frontier development team.

I'm really enjoying the multi-crew feature. A friend and I were having lots of fun last night multi-crew bounty hunting in a RES using a Type-9 with SLF and turrets.

Hooray, I hope it stays that way, or at least give an option to turn it off so those that do like it can continue.

    Just an FYI:

I filed a bug report about the Discovery Scanner HONK sound being GONE in 2.3 b4 about 40 minutes after the update was released. Frontier has responded and is looking into it.

Also the low rumble when near planets and stars also seems to be gone in addition to Heat Sink and SCB sounds. Could be an entire section of the code base got ganked by a typo.

So, has anyone found the Dredger yet?

Hopefully the decal mirror problem on some ships will be fixed by the time it goes live.

  7. #52
It's not mentioned in the changelog, but IPv6 is working now; for me at least.

Yes, this continues to be an irritating bug/design flaw and one that I have a horrible feeling is going to creep into ship names/IDs.

So far this is the most stable build i have ever played, 1 crash just after update then no crashes at all even at 1.5 Supersampling in open. Also dual stacking seems to be working now. Great job overall FD.

Can dev's fix the cargo hatch resting power priority after your ship gets destroyed please?

Ok first of all my apology for being negative i can be pretty negartive sometime but i feel with a good reason however it is most of the time not accepted.

So guys i know its a hell of a job to maintain and patch the game to solve bugs and find them so let it be clear that i really apriciate it and respect your work
As you could guess there is a however.

Please considder the fighting aspect of the game and that there are alot of bugs in that
I think you can see on the CG that the missions for bounty hunting are always very busy and there are a lot of users who play the fighting side of the game.
So please start fighting your self and you will see there are really very anoying bugs there

    1) stacking massacre missions has become almost impossible
    2) log out and log in take a very long time even the esc button does not react and we have to wait to long (i use now the task manager to end the game much faster)
    3) the conflict zone's seem to disapear in solo and apear then again in private
    4) the cg bounty hunting last time was a farce as you can see by the results

I can only hope you guys will take a look at this aspect of the game.
At this moment its absolutely no fun for me to play anymore and i know you can see my logs so you know how much i play and that 160 hour in 2 weeks is no lie
so yes i work, eat, play and sleep and yes i should be thankfull now its no more fun so i can have my life back but i love the game and i do wanna play

Great work FD! I look forward to test out the changes tonight.

yeah i understand that you are saying this just took a look at your profile that make sense join date 06/12/2013
you had all the benefits the last couple of years
and ofcourse you took full advantage of that
doing all the stacking missions to get your rankings up and make a whole lot of credits to buy all the ships and outfitting

so when you are content with this why dont you delete your complete profile in the game and start all over
then we will talk again hahahahahahaha
i will bet you that you wont do that considdering the non stacking these days

o yeah before anybody start again i also had my share of benifits but thats not the point
the point is having fun and like to play and a lot of fun has been taking out this way

Not sure it really matters how we made our money. I play in a sort of stop-and-go fashion, tend to burn out a bit on the betas and go on big exploration trips between them. Have never had more than about 200 million in assets, but had plenty of fun in the process.

Mostly I worry about the consistency of the universe we are playing in. There are two ways to make that inconsistent:

One is to use a phasing mechanism to separate player characters at different points in story lines in the same spot. World of Warcraft has that perfected to the point that consistency is never to be expected there. It is all about the individual, the actual multiplayer parts are generally instanced out.

The other way is to make the player characters inconsistent, by allowing different play modes to overlap in the same game world. That's what ED is doing, and I personally also do not like that. But I can live with it as long as it is not too exploitable. Changing from Open to Solo to avoid getting ganked seems fair enough - that actually ensures that conflicting play styles don't get to conflict. Changing instance to get landing permit at a busy station is questionable, but harmless. Changing instances to maximise profit is just jarring.

Do I stack missions? Yes, if they are available in Open (where I play) since if a Boom economy wants me to take 5 data packages to the same spot, or two groups want to kill the same bunch of skimmers, who am I to question them? Do I change modes for that? No. That's just gaming the game too much in my opinion.

EDIT: A way to test consistency, can be to role-play through it:

Player: "Do you have any missions for me?"
Mission Giver: "Yes, I have a massacre mission?"
Player: "Only one? I need at least 10 to make it worth my time."
Mission Giver: " Sorry, but if you change to an alternate reality there might be more. If you end up here again, I am happy to pay them all out, even if most of them are from other universes."
Player: "Right on, thanks heaps!" <vanishes>

Sorry, that just can't work, in my opinion...

EDIT 2: Can we hand missions stacked from mode hopping in at the same mission giver? Never tried.
