    OBSIDIANANT ON THE FRONTIER

Last week we had the pleasure of welcoming a few community guests to the Frontier Developments office.

Without wanting to make you too jealous, one of those guests was YouTuber ObsidianAnt. Mr Ant has made some of the most informative, honest and entertaining Elite Dangerous videos out there, and if you haven't checked him out already, now's the time to remedy that.

In his latest video, he talks about his time at the office, and shares his feelings and thoughts about what he saw when he was here.

    BARNACLES TARGETED BY UNKNOWN SHIPS

Recent reports from the Pleiades Sector OI-T c3-7 system indicate that the so-called Unknown Ships have begun interacting with the region’s barnacles. Eyewitnesses report that the ships have been seen targeting the barnacles with some kind of energy beam, apparently in order to extract matter from them.

    KNIGHTS OF KARMA APPEAL

The Knights of Karma have announced plans to establish a new mining facility among the rings of Qa’wakana 6, and has appealed to the galactic community to contribute construction materials. The organisation has also placed a kill order on all ships on its wanted list, to ensure those contributing material can do so safely.

    NEW GALACTIC LIMITS

"After extensive searching over 25,000 light years back and forth underneath the galactic core and over 1000 system scanned and surveyed, Cmdr Parabolus has just surpassed the record held for the deepest visited system below the galactic plane.

This new system at 3,220ly below the plane has been named Nadir by the exploration community, which has two meanings: the point on the celestial sphere directly beneath a given position diametrically opposite the zenith, but also means the lowest point of greatest adversity or despair. Nadir requires a sequence of Neutron FSD boosts to reach it - one of which is a 250ly mega-jump.

Nadir itself is a relatively unremarkable system, containing an O-class star and a B-class star. These stars, however, shed magnificent light deep into the void as they are surrounded by absolute darkness. Moreover, this system offers incredible views back toward the entirety of the galaxy."

Many thanks to ObsidianAnt for a nice recap of his time at the Frontier office. I really enjoyed hearing his take on the game and the immediate future of Elite Dangerous.

You mention Parabolus' 'Nadir' system but you clearly missed a system.

    No news, no surprise.

Can't believe FD actually charges for those suits and SRV skins, if you posted that on art sites, you get banned for too many low effort posts.

EDIT: I actually can believe that FD charges for that low effort extras, which is really sad.

They should have announced the event/E3 stream sooner. Now many will, never hear about it in time, miss it or can't take part because scheduling. Hopefully the event work better than Salomon even did (not talking about results but how badly the game servers and mm worked).

Thanks for the newsletter Jenner Great insight on the Future of Elite.

Always nice to hear that Frontier is focused on the future of the game. Elite is a cult game, the cult of the secret is a specificity of Frontier

Couldn't agree more about obsidian ant he almost all ways reflects my own views.
I just don't understand why we have to rely on a "outsider" to hear these thing's, shouldn't PR or the community managers be handling the public's perception of elites future ?

Based on Obsidian Ant's video and the content therein, if FD are moving away from season pass content, how does that affect those of us with lifetime season passes? Does it mean that we will be asked to cough up cash for content? The whole point of a lifetime pass was to avoid this possibility. Would be nice to hear FD's view about this

It's the essence of the game in fact

Don't think so, with the lifetime pass you will be granted all the following content. FD has put his word on this.

I don't have a lifetime season pass, I have a lifetime expansion pass. Funny how I still got season 2 though. It's almost like future content is future content, regardless of what it's called.

I hope the Galnet section gets different news soon, as the community goals section is just an echo of the Galnet section.

So, FDev will be at E3 if I'm not mistaken. Can we get a hint whether there will be a livestream, or anything? And when?
