Don't want to blow up? You can either get good, or stay out of open play.
And, fortunate or not, here is the ultimate truth.
Spend hundreds of hours to Engineer and arm your Anaconda trade ship until it carries only 10 tons of cargo and play in Open all you want. Just to be the content for others.
Or just play the game how you want and have fun in Solo or PG.

this the current problem with the game. people have exploited so much money they dont care if they lose there ship. a pirate ship isnt a match for a pvp ship. u can evade as much as u want but when youve got a group of people that wants to kill u its just a matter of time. and they use thinly vailed excuses to gank. funny how when i was into pvp i would take somthing on that had a chance at fighting back not take on something that i knew would be an easy kill. the get good excuses doesnt mean anything when your rolling around in an over engineered gank wing.

clearly fdev have two kinds of player the one that wanna play and the ones that wanna gan... pvp... give the "pvpers" a mindless space to shoot at things and let the rest of us get on with business...

And that my friends is the exact comment that gets most decent pvp/pirate players such a bad rep.

It is a bit of an issue around the mechanics that you are often not 'wanted'. However if I had decided to become a 'pirate hunter' and saw you in action or had reports or you carrying out said robberies then I would engage whether you were wanted or not and in your term become a hobo murderer. I however wouldn't just go on a killing spree unless I built up a personal RP for such actions.

You're kidding right? A decent shield generator is all an anaconda needs to survive a gank. You can still carry plenty of cargo, and sure as hell don't need a full on combat ship to survive in open.

Murder Hobos, the chavs of Elite.

Ruining everything for everyone, including themselves, one easy kill at a time.

It's fine, Frontier is solving the problem by essentially making piracy unworkable, and giving PVP centric players a new competition. Everyone else will just go to solo.

Frontier have never really understood how to facilitate piracy, as a function. Or that giving players the tools to deal with PVP themselves (eg bounties that escalate, APB's for the top offenders, etc). Instead, moralising commanders panic about people profiting from hunting malcontents, when not combat logging in open and then complaining about being shot at.

There are ways Frontier can solve this. Karma, a global bounty system and a massively improved system security are a start.

I'm sorry, commander, but I think piracy is being thrown under the bus. Because frontier either won't, or can't discern between piracy and good old fashioned highway robbery, versus outright ganking. And so to be seen to be doing something, we get a system that essentially rewards ganking and penalises piracy.

I don't know what else to say. Frontier decided to allow free-for-all combat in open, then forgot to set anything remotely like mechanics around it. Now? I love frontier. I think they have done an amazing job. But this whole thing has been left far far too long.

The community is fundimentally devided. It will take so so much to try and repair that. I hope they can try. But it's going to be rough for a long time. I have some belief Frontier can do it. But it's going to be bad, guys and gals, it's going to be bad for a while yet.

If this was any more of an overstatement you'd be in another Timezone from the one you started in. I'm really struggling to take anything you say, at all at this point, remotely seriously. Perhaps you might want to get your sarcasm engineered to be more effective?

    Fly safe.

I know, it's a hard choice to make, but some of you really need to make the decision already.

No choice to make mate. But you keep sprouting this trash if it makes you feel better.

Obvoiusly it's an overstatement. An overstatement with a big fat grain of truth that the Open crowd doesn't like to hear do they? Well, enjoy yourselves!

I'm a pirate, which means I'm not trying to kill any traders, trades seem pretty cool with the situation as long as no ones trying to kill em. i always make it clear with what going on with a quick "engines off, submit to scan, this is a robbery", then if they run only take out the engines.
50% of the time I'm not even wanted. but murder hobos are running around the place trying to justify there random attacks by claiming piracy or bounty hunting.
I'm sorry but pirates don't carry anything bigger then pack hounds and also have the mandatory limpet collectors (no ones gonna scoop 30 tons of cargo at a time).
The bounty hunting hobos are attacking while I'm not even wanted claiming I'm a pirate and in turn them selves becoming wanted. how can u bounty hunt something that isn't wanted?

so after the vent cant fdev do something about this... maybe something like GTA online has where if you get enough negative actions placed on your account that you get put into a player pool where your only with other "bad" players, then the hobos can have fun killing each other while the rest of socialized space can carry on blazing there own trail. and please dont tell me to play solo, npc piracy isnt fun and isnt implemented in a way that makes it feel good.

I'll read the rest of this thread later as it's time for church but a Rep to you for your thoughts. But unfortunately this has been cover a lot with little or no change. At least in attitude of those who kill for "THEIR" fun or by those simply bored. Your only recourses at the moment are to put up with it, play in group/solo or take part in the Defence force against them.

    Cheers ...

Actually it was borderline idiotic, but I was trying to be polite. Anaconda is probably one of the most survivable ships in the game. Feel free to have opinions. That's all good, just when you express really crazy ones that are entirely illogical, don't be surprised if you are challenged on it.

Polite? Yet you still didn't answer the kernel of the question - as I suspected you wouldn't.
No need to be polite as I need nothing, or expect anything, from you. That's the beauty of not needing others for game content.
Have fun. I won't be seeing you so take care.

There´s an easy fix: make Open empty again until Devs react and we have a proper system that is able to keep gankers away. Until then - play group/solo. Maybe its time for a mobius NG where pirating is allowed.
