    Private Capital Ships

    Greetings CMDRs
    I'm new here just about 30hrs into the game and i am having a great time playing. i just found out there are Capital Ships in the game and i had an idea that i think is really cool.
    it would be awsome if several players could gather up money and buy a capital ship of there own which would be like a star destriyer from star wars. u will be able to park ships inside, it could serve kinda like a mobile space station.ofc they would cost a lot like a billion(or several billions )

    are there actually any plans about this in the future?

    There's been plenty of discussion & suggestions about player owned or group owned assets, it's generally unpopular, although there is at least one group that 'owns' a mega-ship. They put in a request to FDev to get it moved once a month or something so technically it's not theirs but they have limited control.

    This was a contentious move by FDev but I think concerns have largely proved unfounded in this specific case. If it were a free-for-all (rather than hand-picked by FDev) it might become more of an issue.

    Some mega-ships have docking facilities so most of what you want is in the game, just all but impossible to attain

    Are they liable for the re-buy and if so; how much is it?

    Simple answer:

    They aren't, because there isn't a rebuy, because MegaShips cannot be destroyed

    I think a "barge" might be nice. Refuel it with tanker ships, jump it between stars with that fuel. It can generate sidewinders and all "E" rank gear, but nothing else, and can only be shipped items inside systems with other stations. It's "driven" by docking a ship in a driver-seat dock. Solar panels keep stuff online if the fuel depletes.

    So it's a solid minibase and exploration platform, remote resupply/repairs but not much else. Jump in 100ls from stars, and someone goes in with a fuel scoop sometimes to keep the thing running.

    yeah thats what i wanted it for maybe it could have like3-4 sidewinders that defend the "barge" if it is attacked.
    this "barge" would be very usefull for long exploration trips.and they would not have unlimited recources for ressuply the would need to be refilled every now and then.

    Also, it's a bit safer to give players access to a mobile barge with some downsides, than to an actual capital ship.

    Heck, give the thing thrusters and a jump drive, no supercuise! Refuel with regular ships that fly out to the star. Generate E gear, so you can stash optionals and fit extra tanks, and top off the barge easier.

    2 types of dock: hangar, and attach. Hangars for refitting, and attach points where you just grab on and ride the thing, and where you appear when you log out attached.

    Maybe... 1 large hangar, 4-8 large attach points, 1 medium hangar, ~10 medium points, 2 small hangars and 10 medium points? Depends heavily on how many people can fit in an instance.
