Thread: Alien bases grow - With an important update at Page 4

Oh my, can't wait to finish my circumnavigation and check those out (assuming they don't pop out of the ground and start flying around...)

The sites are certainly organic. The Unknown Uplinks point out that there is organic degradation and decaying genetic material, according to structure scans. It's possible that the scavengers are actually revitalizing them and trying to "revive" them.

Since we can get inside these things, for now, isn't it time to start filling them up with high explosives?

This is page 2 for me. I eagerly await the exciting developments on page 4
We're only midway through page 1 for me (at 100 posts per page).

You seem to ignore the fact they are quite clearly named as "scavengers" / That is, they are scavenging the otherwise corrosive residue. This is what happens when a virulent, manufactured chemical weapon has been reverse engineered. What was once the bane of Thargoids is now working to service them.Consider what is known regarding Thargoids# Ammoonia/based biology / this ewntails that the very oxygenating/reducing chemistry of water/based life is highly toxic. The reverse is true also. The nitrates may very likely form carcinogens in reaction with carbon organics as well. I am convinced all evidence of Flower ships so far is indivcative of Thargoids preparing to defend themselves against the side effects of contact / not with any assumption of intent nor offensive purpose, but simply they are far more knowledgable of us and the threat we pose by our natural physiology / than we are of them .

That is a rather astute suggestion. Let us be about it. They can always be disarmed via remote control. Just to be sure.

Obviously, we can't actually place exposives inside of them.

Now, an SRV is another story....

Any one like to volunteer to park their SRV in the thing and leave it there until, well until...it becomes obvious that the experiment is over?

Just, uh, gonna leave this here, since people are talking about ships being dug out and reanimated and being all very excited. Be careful what you uncover.

This still gives me chills. That scream.

Slightly off topic but that's an interesting point. The SRV must be covered with toxic compounds after a trip inside.
Does the ship automatically decontaminate the SRV ?
Or de we have an ammonia smell that permeates everything ?

That's like how the first war with the Thargoids started, some trigger happy fleet commander.

We have identified two kinds of Thargoids, Klaxians (warlike) and Oresrians (peaceful). They were in a civil war and stumbled upon human occupied space.

If it hasn't been suggested already, note down the exact coordinates for the ships used to measure the size for added accuracy so we can see how much the base/baseship is growing by for each 30-day interval.

Gods I loved that series. I wish they would do what they did with Star Trek:TOS and TNG and refresh the special effects, but it's probably not financially viable.

Sorry to be a cynic, but the more I look at that comparison image, the more it seems like this may just be a case of a model swap and not actual growth. If you look at the positions of the big whale/Leviathan/whatever things (the things that aren't the spikes) relative to the inner ring of spike things, while some seemed to have gotten bigger and/or changed shape slightly, the two on the right-most side of the image have actually shifted positions as well. From the first image to the second they have both shifted one arms-length counterclockwise. I'll admit I'm a little biased as I've never thought that they are growing but rather deteriorating. We could stand for some more comparison photos though and more surveillance on the sites, because it could be they are changing, but it's still a little ambiguous in what way.

Good idea and I am happy to hear that you are volunteering. We are all very proud of you. Good luck!
