Thread: FDEV PLEASE more STORAGE !!

  1. #31
I agree, it is so frustrating to have to search for stuff to dump so you can collect stuff you want.

More storage would be great! +1

I'm all for more storage and better in game information on what stuff is useful for. Managing inventories is tedious enough without having to resort to 3rd party sites to figure out if I might just want to keep a certain item.

I keep no more than 5 to 10 units of each material, data or else, and storage is more than sufficient, even for synthesis.
you can have max 8 of each material if you do not want to participate in any material CG, or ever synthesize a single limpet... thats ok for you.
or if you trade the fun of scooping each rock you have mined with the fun of deleting the material that your limpets collect despite your material storage beeing full

I'd like more too, but how about making it a size 2 specialised cargo rack to double it?

That way there is at least some trade off and it can be used to affect ship weight/speed/jump range which also helps make it a game choice rather than a gimme.

I recently did 200 rolls on a G5 FSD range. If materials were limited to 30 then would only be able to do max 30 rolls. It would be another terrible artificial limit placed on players. Just increase the total. Let each player decide how they collect/use the mats.
Did you eventually get a ''god roll''?

The idea of payed storage with (game money) at a station is a good and make it your home station (FD should allow us to select a home station) at least that way there is a trade off that you have to go back to your home station to collect the mats you need.

So the solution is for everyone to play your way. How novel...

Yes, I believe most of us are willing to pay a certain amount to a station to buy or rent a storage box. (If time bound, fee is claimed on docking) Only binding the storage to your home will get complicated the day you decide to switch home.
Once you declare you have swithced home the old one jettons you stored valuables?. Nice idea, eh? Did it move by magical transfer? Things are to be coded and tested. Too much effort, I think. Keep it simple if you can. Buy or rent a
piece of storage at a station. I won't bother too much if FD sets up a fee for stored ship also. I am fine with. It simply is reasonable because stations need to make some money from something.

    It's not really a gimme...

We have all kinds of new Thargoid mats and data that we're going to need to hold onto (I hope/assume) for new types of engineering. We have CGs coming through that require this type of storage. We have new synthesis types that require mats that I previously didn't even bother to pick up.

So in light of all of the new drains on my storage, I would like the storage limits raised in order to compensate. Personally I would be satisfied with 1500/750. I would be thrilled with 2000/1000. Anything more seems excessive at this time.

I'm also completely against a "per type" limit since that removes any challenge to managing your inventory, I would just ride around with everything maxed out all the time. Having a limit is good. Having to manage what you keep and what you throw away is good. But as new types get added to the game, the limits should be raised.

+1 for the material and data storage.

  14. #44
Or the possibility to store mats/data at stations, just like Modules and Ships.
(If that didn't already come up, didn't read the whole thread)

    still the old limit.

guess fdev still needs to look at stuff and annoy the sht out of the playerbase even more.
fdev likes to look at stuff for ages, because looking is better then changing.
