    NEWSLETTER #191

Welcome to the Elite Dangerous Newsletter, the place to find all the latest from the Elite Dangerous galaxy.

This week we’re highlighting our Frontier Community meetups from Cologne, Seattle and Hull and we’re joined by Producer Lloyd Morgan-Moore on our latest livestream. Plus, this weekend, some of the Elite community are holding a charity livestream over the weekend for OneStar Foundation's Rebuild Texas Fund.

As always, you can hear the latest news and updates directly from the development team on our Forums, Twitter, Facebook, Community Homepage, and right here in the newsletter every week, and we're always eager to hear your feedback.

    On the Horizon
All the latest for Elite Dangerous: Horizons

Monday marked the end of our Open Beta for Elite 2.4 The Return. Many commanders are speculating what's next; tune into our livestream on Thursday 14 September at 7PM BST for details about the launch, plus a discussion with developers about the story so far.

We would like to thank everyone who participated in the Beta and can't wait to share more with you about our new update.

You’ll find out more about the future of Elite Dangerous at next month’s Frontier Expo on Saturday 7 October. Tickets for this event are now sold out, but we’ll keep everyone in the loop across our social media channels.

    CQC ON PS4 AND PC

This week on the livestream, Ed was joined by Producer Lloyd Morgan-Moore to take on the community in some fast-paced CQC action.

Lloyd didn’t fare so well taking on the PS4 community, and to be honest, Ed didn’t do that much better against the PC players!

We run regular CQC livestreams on our YouTube channel – they’re brilliant opportunities to experience Arena combat, and a guaranteed time where lots of people come together to play. We have a genuinely lovely time chatting to the community and hold the occasional giveaway.

    INTERNATIONAL ELITE MEETS

Over the last couple of weeks we’ve had the pleasure of attending three brilliant Frontier and Elite-related events. We met hundreds of Commanders and Planet Coaster enthusiasts at our Frontier Meets in Cologne and Seattle, and we were invited to attend Fantasticon, not so far from home in Hull.

    FRONTIER MEET – COLOGNE, GERMANY

Our Frontier communities joined together for some incredible views of the city, refreshing little glasses of Kolsch and, of course some currywurst, on the top floor venue at the Sky Lounge.

    FRONTIER MEET – SEATTLE, WASHINGTON

Taking a moment away from the busy convention centre at PAX West, we hosted a Frontier Meet at the vibrant Capitol Hill area of Downtown Seattle. The US community welcomed us with open arms, as we chatted and danced the night away. We can’t wait to see our West Coast US community and streamer friends again, as soon as possible!

    FANTASTICON

There was a fantastic (pun intended!) turnout at Fantasticon 2017 in Hull, with hundreds of Elite Dangerous Commanders turning up to enjoy the panels, talks and performances from some of our favourite streamers and community stalwarts!

We were absolutely blown away by the enthusiasm and commitment shown by the hundreds of Commanders we met at various locations on planet Earth over the last couple of weeks. It really is our amazing community that makes Elite Dangerous the incredible, immersive and wonderful experience that it is.

We can’t wait to see everyone at Frontier Expo 2017, or at other international events next year. When we see you in person we’ll share more stories about our adventures in outer space, raise a toast to absent Commanders, and celebrate being part of the best community in the galaxy.

    Thanks everyone.

    FEDERAL BLOCKADE ENDS

Reports from Maia indicate that the Federal cordon of Maia A 3 a has come to an end. The Federation made no comment regarding the withdrawal of its ships, but Professor Palin, who is based on Maia A 3 a, is reportedly pleased with the development.

    VOICES OF DISSENT

Reports that the Federal–Imperial cold war could soon end have resulted in widespread jubilation, but anonymous sources have reported that some Imperials have questioned the wisdom of withdrawing from the Pleiades. Nevertheless, it is understood that there is a desire, on both sides of the fence, to end the conflict.

    THE PATH TO COLONIA
    Shajn Market, Kamadhenu

The Kamadhenu Chapterhouse of Inquisition's ongoing infrastructure project has now entered its final phase. The aim of the project is to establish a series of starports along the route to Colonia to make the 20,000 light-year voyage less daunting.

The third and final stage of the campaign begins on the 7th of September 3303 and will run for one week. If the final target is met earlier than planned, the campaign will end immediately.

    THIRD APPEAL

    Shajn Market, Kamadhenu

The Chapterhouse has placed an open order for Palladium, Superconductors and Micro Controllers, and has promised to reward pilots who deliver these commodities to Shajn Market in the Kamadhenu system.

    PROTECTING TRADERS
    Shajn Market, Kamadhenu

System authorities will issue above-average rewards for Chapterhouse-issued bounties, to ensure safe delivery of goods to the starport. Earn these rewards by handing in Bounty Vouchers at Shajn Market in the Kamadhenu system.

    DBX + SAGITTARIUS A INK

CMDR Twixxo dared to dream, and that dream was to fly his Diamondback Explorer all the way to Sagittarius A which he did earlier this year.

To commemorate the event, he had it immortalized in ink. Awesome tattoo, Commander!

    THE DISCOVERED GALAXY

CMDR ModishNouns, using data from EDDB.io, has mapped out the most travelled exploration routes taken by Elite Dangerous Commanders since the game's launch.

See you in the black, Commanders

Alas, I am missing from the Seattle pic as I spent much of my time upstairs. The music was quite loud downstairs.

Time to rename these to 'letters', because there's no news in them anymore.

So - a stupid question. Is BST the same as British DST or GMT? Only, you guys are on daylight saving time right now, right? So in order to make sure I am tuning in at the right time, I wondered if I should check in at 7pm GMT or 7 pm British DST. Because it is so darned confusing and telling us BST is actually not helping.
EDIT: wait - I just looked it up on Google - BST = British Summer Time. So that will be the daylight saving time. Damn I get so confused.

So, no insulting membranes this week, Good. Had a hard time shipping those,

Thanks for posting the newsletter, Jenner!

Looks like those meetings were ton of fun. I see many happy CMDR's.

Gotta admit, that DBX tattoo is looking pretty sick. Respect worthy commitment.

Looking at this galaxy graphic, pretty interesting stuff. Much have been discovered already, and currently it must require a keen eye to find something new and exotic. My hat's off to you all out there! o7
