PassMark's video card benchmark is a decent site, https://www.videocardbenchmark.net

I use this website to get an idea of component performance, currently I use a 960 at medium/high settings and get around 60 FPS in most of the game, the 960 is pretty close to the 1050 Ti performance according to UserBenchmarks

    http://gpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare...-Ti/3165vs3649

If you want a bit more futureproofing I'd suggest trying to get a 1060 as ED will probably get more GPU intensive with each release.
I've been asked more than a few times "But why the docking computer?" cause I'm a lazy ol Commander that's why!

From a similar question I asked a while back, at 1080p / high settings you're looking at 45-60fps at all times.
(Lower range is in docks and planets)

Forget 1050, save up for 1060 or 1070.
The 1080 has come down in price since the 1080ti hit the market.
You need to try future proof your investment as much ax possible.
People have already said on this thread that some of the 9xx series match or come Very close to the 1050.
Fair enough if budget is against you, but the 1050 really is budget end of the 10xx series.

Just a thought....you can improve fps in dock by lowering or even turning off ambient occlusion. Not that it matters overmuch. It can stop, or at least reduce by how much your GPU runs up its fan(s) though, if you're into a bit of peace and quiet.

There's not a lot of point upgrading from a 660 to 1050 unless you're just replacing a faulty card like for like. As above I'd also recommend a 1060 or 1070. Or consider a used 970, I have 60fps solid with high details 1080p on my Media Box which runs an i7 3770 and GTX970 and can also play VR Medium on an Ocukus DK2

turning vsinc off also will help. I will be attaching my liquid cooler to it. silence is golden

My old media PC had an i5 3570k and GTX660, that was actually a nice setup a few years ago and I used to play ED in VR on that system on my DK2!

I need to get a CV1 as my DK2 only runs for about an hour and then goes all shaky. I will probably upgrade to a 1070 so if you're still not suited my old 970 will need a new home....

does the 660 really work VR. only info I have is it doesn't support it.

That is not very accurate for gaming though. It has my AMD Fury card beneath a 390x and a 970 gtx. When in gaming terms it is superior to those and in a lot of cases better then a 980 gtx.
Also has the Vega 64 below the 1080, but in gaming it is generally between a 1080 and a 1080ti.

    I could be wrong.

Admittedly, my ancient AMD HD 6870 1Gb can do the same. Lol

It's probably closer to 55-60+fps really for a 1050 ti.
If your FPS isn't limited to 60, you'll probably see it go higher. I just never pay any attention to anything above 60, because that's my TVs limit. Lol
