Or was that just a feature change? Because see, SC is still under development. It's not a released product.

You cannot have it both ways.
The key difference is that FD offered full refunds to anyone who felt cheated by the lack of offline mode. SC will never be as advertised when it was kickstarted, simply because of the drastic shift in scope; CIG have not been so forthcoming with refund opportunities. Also, Only around 0.2% of the ED audience was around when offline mode was officially scrapped over 3 years ago; by contrast, CIG has actively misled its audience about the state and nature of SC on a number of occasions throughout its entire existence.

    Full refund??!!

Those who have pre-ordered an Elite: Dangerous release version from our online store and have therefore not yet played the game are eligible for a refund. "Those who have already been playing the game online in the Alpha and/or Beta phases, regardless of whether they backed the project via Kickstarter or purchased access to Alpha and/or Beta through our online store, are not eligible for a refund."
That's pretty clear cut, but there seems scope for a refund in other circumstances, too.
"We want to make sure we treat each person's situation with the thoroughness it deserves," Braben added, "and have contacted each of them to ask that they bear with us over the next few working days if their circumstances do not fit either criteria above as we look into individual requests."

Time-frame is important though. Crowd funding has an element of "scam" from the outset as you are essentially pitching the development of a product to your consumers that have no idea what development involves, you are selling your idea on the basis of it's completion. Yeah you could accuse ED of being some sort of scam if you wanted, they launched their campaign the moment Kickstarter was available in the UK and it all felt very new. It's all feeling a bit old-hat now, like the National lottery, some people still do it and think it'll work - every one else has gotten wise.

The problem with Star Citizen is it covers an extensive period of crowd funding it's beyond comprehension. There are no standards, no precedence and CIG have removed the safe-guards of goals and delivery times. No dead-lines, take "all the time you want" "get it right".

Humans are actually very limited by time, we don't live forever and Chris Roberts himself will probably be looking for a holywood retirement in just a few years.

Old news even for that time. FD ended up giving refunds to all that asked. But that is not an interesting news title so it was not covered.

Very true, but CIG step it up a notch by lying about the current state of the game in order to sell items (jpegs)

Everyone who asked got a refund. May not fit your desperate narrative to crap on the game on whose forum you hang around trying to promote other games, but its still true.

You can't just post facts in the star citizen thread, it's like tapping on the glass of an aquarium.

This reality check was brought to you by a minion of Dr Derek Smart
One could also note that FD owned it, told the hard truth that upset many, many people. CIG still promises VR and 1000s of players per instance. They don’t want to shut down the dreamers when they could still squeeze some more pennies from them.

Well, most people would find selling the non-existing option to 'claim land' on planets in an non-existing game that is years behind schedule for real money suspicious, at the very least. But hey, whatever you want.

Only alternative facts are welcome in an SC thread.

It happened. I know that is not the story you want people to believe but, you can't have everything.

I know for a fact they exist, there's one right next to the quasar just outside out solar system.

Maybe you should argue with Derek about Derek on Derek's forum?

We're discussing the game in the same way reddit does only without downvoting. Trouble is this audience have had a LOT of planets to take pictures of and trading's been working for a long time so we're less easily impressed.

Meanwhile we look forwards to hearing how 3.1 is actually going to be the jesus patch that will contain all the game that'll shut people up, but this one was a swing and a miss. Gonna have to accept that and not start bleating about some other person we're not talking about here. This is the Star Citizen thread.

Nah, 3.1 has already stopped being the Jesus patch.

"3.1 is all about solidifying 3.0 to make it faster. It will have a better main UI and combat UI, fixes for economy exploits and the first phase of the Service Beacon feature. Roberts mentioned a February release for 3.1, but the latest production report says March."

Interestingly in the article I got this from it says that releases will not be date based rather than feature based but this one seems to already have slipped...
