Thread: An Investigation Into Frontier's Actions on Combat Logging, Part 2

  1. #61
Wow. This isn't really shocking but still extremely disappointed that Frontier needs to be coerced into enforcing their own policies. And further, that even public pressure isn't even sufficient. My guess is that (unlike the engineer exploit) Frontier went through the logs and found HUGE numbers of players have combat logged, and are afraid the current level of interest in the game is too fragile to start issuing non-arbitrary punishments.

I base my opinions on "observable reality", not on what someone posts in a forum!
Are you trying to suggest that people used the same exploit after having their modules deleted? The exploit that was fixed at the same time the modules were removed? Hahaha that's funny.

This whole effort sounds like they're trying to "get back" at Frontier for messing with their ill-gained mods.

OP is former SDC. But that's not really important. I know of two former SDC members who are reputable and have more honor than a lot of CMDRs here. Rinzler is one of them.

We shouldn't paint members of a group (or former members) with such a wide brush.

Really poor test, but nobody else is doing it.

I have not seen many combat loggers in a long time because the people we fight WANT to participate in PvP. We haven't gone after any crappy harmless CMDR who has no idea what they're doing.

    Just a quick reminder

No personal attacks or insults. Any more and it will be a fistful of infractions, make your point without attacking anyone else.

    Rinz is still SDC.

I'd welcome if FD figured out and implemented
a series of surveys tied into the game launcher,
    to evaluate several topics,
with clogging being one of them.
    This would be more neutral,
as not everyone uses the forums or reddit.

You can invest time fighting symptons
    or personal choice of action,
but usually it is better to find the root of the disease.

Also this would be suitable instrument for a
preliminary questioning of the playerbase tied
    to development decisions.
A start, but not the end.

I stand corrected on that part, then. But not on the other.

Keep being a perfect stereotype, man.
You must have misunderstood, I'm not dismissing it, I'm applauding FDEV's inaction.

SDC have openly admitted submitting fake reports of combat logging (more than once now) to "test FDEV's response". That's a waste of FDEV supports time, no sensible commercial concern ever bothers with proven timewasters which is exactly what SDC are. They probably auto-reply to and then auto-delete your reports, and if they don't they should.

    Hope that's a little clearer.

I've never lost a ship to them.

The details of the block function are all here along with advice direct from Sandro Sammarco the games lead designer on how block should be used to deal with griefers :

Imagine hating a group so much that you're glad the dev doesn't punish cheating?

Are you then accusing Frontier of lying when they said that
    - the exploit was fixed
    - all modules created by that exploit had been removed from the game
(and furthermore accusing hundreds of players of lying when they confirmed the same)?

I suspect that what you saw was one of:
    - someone using a memory hack or similar to give themselves actually undamageable shields (rare, but it happens. One of the types of cheating FDev definitely does act on, so report it!)
    - lag (fairly common, I've seen plenty of people I know are honest appear undamageable or at least take far less damage than expected for some time as a result)
    - the ridiculously strong shields possible on bigger ships with conventional engineering even with just standard G5 never mind ridiculous god rolls. (common, intended behaviour)
    - a similar bug with equivalentish effect is being exploited instead (not impossible, and obviously anyone who finds it is going to keep pretty quiet, but it's still not the "exact same exploit")

Praytell, how can you tell if you've been hit by a god roll G1 weapon and a regular G5 roll?

    who cares, I play solo.
By the way, since the match making is p2p, I really can't understand how FD can solve the problem, since it has no control over it.
