Thread: New post layout - intentional change?

  1. #1

New post layout - intentional change?

Posts were laid out like this:

Where green is the post body, blue is the signature, red is the poster's name, avatar etc.

Today I noticed the layout has been recently changed into this:

I don't like it. Formerly you had to neat columns where all the poster information for everyone aligned in a narrow column, and the rest of the browser window for the wider (dynamic width) column for post content and signatures.

Now signatures attach to the left edged of the screen and interrupt that left column of avatars, and it looks very irritating to me.

P.S.: If you wonder why my signature is not at the left edge, I added multiple indent tags to move it to roughtly where it used to be.

It depends on how long your post is.
If it's short, the signature will be like your first example.

However if your post is longer, the signature kind of slips under your avatar.
I agree that it looks weird and unorganized

You can center your sig on the sig page if you like.

I know you can manually adjust your own signature to be placed where it was before the change. That doesn't help you with all the signatures of other people who didn't.

P.S.: thanks for showing how depending on post size (number of lines) and avatar height, the signature may automatically slip to the right again in some cases. That's also pretty irritating.

This change should be fully reverted at this point in time (as of a month ago)

Well it is not. Without adding 4 levels of indent, my signature still snaps to the left inside the column with the avatars.

Right, that should be fixed once and for all. Master->Child CSS inheritances being meanies.

I am using Elite Tempered, but also tried it with the default time before I posted that. But in the meantime it is indeed fixed. Many thanks!
