Thread: Guardian Material Trader

    Guardian Material Trader

So I returned to a guardian structure to collect more mats and was not surprised to get drops that I have too many already

We need a guardian mat trader!

I remember reading you have to trigger the guardian orb to pop once and can scan obelisks by reloading from SRV, right? Do I just offer 2 ancient relics and does this activate 2 sentinels that I have to fight? I found myself out of practice fighting just one day

You have to shoot the pylons to activate the guardian orb, once all the pylons have been activated, you drop one ancient relic before the orb and then it rises up and you scan it for the blueprint.

There are two or three predetermined areas that spawn skimmers at each site, then once the orb is activated a couple more skimmers show up.

Relogging resets both the orbs and obelisks for scans.

A trader would be nice, I agree!

    Thanks Vedmo.

We have guardian and human tech brokers plus human mat traders. So, a guardian mat trader is logically the missing link.

Make it an alien material trader and throw Thargoid materials and data into the mix.

Why not if FDev puts good use to Thargoid tech and materials too

And then people would still complain about exchange ratios.

A week ago I have finally unlocked Guardian FSD booster. It was almost entertaining experience (ofc, post patch that reduces the mat requirement) with a pinch of salt about RNG involvement. From memory - you need 21 units of two different material from Guardian site. After clearing entire place twice and mid through 3rd I had nearly 60 units of one needed and 3 units of other needed. And shooting pylons was giving me even more what I had in abundance.

Guardian mat trader would be a welcome sight indeed, but knowing Frontier it wouldn't do much as what you are lacking is higher tier mats and what drop is common stuff. So with current exchange rates you would still need heaps of common stuff to get single unit of what you desire.

I wonder why FDEVs are so hesitant to introduce all kinds of traders. Simple human nature is this - if there's a demand, supply will appear. There's business to be made and it's a perfect opportunity to create shady traders. Hard to find (hint: roaming megaship) but providing service you seek. For a hefty price that is. 3x lower grade mat + xx,000 credits.

Now, that gives me an idea...

I don't mind the mat 1:6 exchange rates when am getting too many of a couple of guardian components.

What are you actually looking for?

Go to the site in Synuefe EU-Q C21-10 to get weapons blueprints.
Go to the site in HD63154 to get module blueprints.

Pick up scrap from destroyed Sentinels, scan any Obelisks you see and shoot the destructible panels to get data and mat's.
Don't worry too much about the data & mat's though. Just focus on getting the BPs.

After you've got the BPs, go to the site(s) in Col 173 Sector QU-O D6-25
The Structure site there spawns a bunch of Sentinels which can be farmed for mat's, with re-logging.
There are also 2 Ruins sites on the same planet which give you all the Obelisk data you need.

At the Col 173 site you can pretty-much max-out all your Guardian mat's/data in an hour or so.

Also, if you're struggling with the Sentinels, go in a small ship fitted with a Point Defence on the roof and land it near to the site so the PD can shoot down Sentinel missiles.

Trouble with an "Alien mat' trader" is that you'd (presumably) have to trade one alien mat' for another so you'd probably end-up going to the Col 173 site anyway, which'll get you everything you'd be trading for.
Still, I suppose a trader would allow you to trade stuff you don't need for stuff you do.

I'm mainly looking for sentinel weapon parts and wreckage. I'm referring guardian blueprints as data for comparison to human tech.

I'm at Synuefe EU-Q C21-10 where there are 2 sentinels that spawn every reload and not activating the shrine for blueprint scans but shooting the sentinels and destructible panels with SRV turret guns give me motion sickness

Currently the entire point of how the mat drops work is so FD can turn 2 hours of content into 12 hours of grind. A mat trader would turn this into maybe 4-6 hours of grind instead and FD obviously does not want that.

Depending on the layout there are different spawn points for the Sentinels but You can get all the mats you need without running through the orb minigame. You can shoot destructible panels for most mats and fight Sentinels for the weapon components and wreckage components. When you're don just re-log if you want to repeat it without needing to run through the minigame at all. It is much faster that way if you are just grinding for mats or obelisk scans instead of blueprint segments. I have more blueprints than I can use right now but not enough of certain mats, specifically sentinel wreckage components and Epsilon data.
