Nebula in Galaxy Map Killing FPS

Anyone else getting a major FPS drop when looking at nebula in the galaxy map?

It never used to happen on my old AMD HD 6870 1Gb on medium settings.
But my GTX 770 2GB really struggles with nebula on high... Even with galaxy map quality set to medium...?

Using latest drivers, but it's been the same on all drivers for months.

The FPS drops from 60fps down to 1, until I either zoom in, zoom out, or move away, then instant 60fps again.
    Seems worst in the Pleiades.

    I blame the Thargoids.

Just looked at the North America Nebula - that's ok no FPS change.

But the Barnard's Loop nebula with Orion and Horsehead close by dips from high 150's to 30 FPS.

Zoom out a bit and it's back to normal.

    Something's up.

    GTX 1070 with oldish drivers.
