Any method to re-tune the ships engines?

    Ya, that's right.

The sound of the ASP Explorer in normal space really annoys me. It sounds like propeller airplane, or more closely the propeller sound from a dirigible (floating airship or blimp). I thought I could ignore it and I would get used to it. Nope.

The engines need to be re-tuned, or the mountings modified so its not so annoying.

Is the only option to get a different ship?

The Asp (it's a snake, not an acronym) Explorer sounds dirty and perfect just the way it is.

that's personal, i bet a lot of players do love the asp's chugging sounds. it sounds funny to me, but it's one reason i don't fly it either, otherwise a pretty nice ship

ships are quite different so odds are there is something you like, no need to fly something you don't. fortunately there are lots of them, so suit yourself!

Well, if you think the Asp is bad... try a DBX

Lol, it's like an Asp fitted with a vintage VW "Tweeter" muffler.

Turn the volume down. Asp is the Prince of ships

First time I took my Eagle out I thought it lost a wrist pin on #6 piston from all the clanking it made. I eventually got used to it.

Or the Adder, which sometimes sounds like a submarine diving below it's safe diving depth.
