And here we have the problem. It is pretty disrespectfull to leave the userbase in the shadows right after launch when so many people cant use the game. It leads to speculation and frustration. It is just not what you should do even if you have seemingly just reached your milestone of launching the title. Everyone knows that there will be loads of problems after a game launch. But honestly it seems to be business practise as i have had this a couple of times before. Game launched - give me a break...

It's simply wrong to assume that Frontier don't have anybody working on the issue until next week.

I guarantee they know what's going on, any Manager , Director, Owner of a company checks his company while he is away. It will harm them as they want sales and over christmas & new year people have money to spend etc, people will be coming here and looking at the forum first and then thinking no way am i spending £40 for something that does not work. Big big shame because i loved the original Elite

This type of issue is going to get exponentially more difficult to handle the longer you let it exist. Instead rolling back servers few hours when it first surfaced, you're going to wait till next week to even start considering such drastic measures. Now you're going to have 5 days worth of fubared saves, exploits and other lovely bugs. Some lost their money, others managed to sell the same cargo multiple times for ridiculous profits, and for all we know, this will continue for at least the next 3 days, while you intend on doing absolutely nothing until then.

Bad form on your part. Very disappointing.

True I think, not a poll but....

From memory, most Alpha's and Beta's appeared to take the 'take as long as you need don't rush release' position. ...

A game that is Online-Only has a Network Engineering team. A Network Engineering Team always has at least 1 on call person (Any decent half baked company should have a Second and third shift on hand person, but I guess even over the ocean people are slow).

If it was an issue like one station not working, or downtime over under 4 hours, or a rollback of an hour, sure.

The game was broken, and is falling to pieces as we speak. The game is ruined for most, the reviews to an already damaged reputation are not going to help.

Me personally? $60 is not a lot, and i don't pay a sub so...it really isn't my loss, it will get fixed at some point. However to anyone who ACTUALLY enjoys this game, i feel incredibly sorry for you (Which does involve myself). Not only have we learned a company ditched its support during the first few weeks of it's release, but we have also learned the extreme lack of any communication at all. To top it off, the game was unplayable for over 12 hours, and is now resembling a uhm...burning pile of dog poop.

I still like space pew pews. But I mean i cant smoke enough pot in the world to justify this :/

It always amazes me that people who are experts and never have any issues with the game have nothing better to do than read the forums and comment on how they do not have any issues instead of playing the game. Really makes me lol...NOT, I am reading the forums as I cannot sell my cargo, just bought my first type-7 so I have no spare money and thus unable to play without loosing a lot. No need to tell me that the point of the game is not to make credits, every second post has some expert telling me that.

You don't have to exploit to get a lot of money. I have logged out yesterday with 700k and some lost money for a beam laser. After logging back in this afternoon to check out if I got my beam laser money back, I quickly realized I got a little more than that: my balance rocketed to more than 5 billion credits overnight.

I logged out at once, since I dont want to be tempted to buy a bigger ship and be spoiled as a result. The longer this takes and the more messed up the transaction data becomes, the more likely we are going to have a rollback I guess.

I'd be interested to know just what percentage of the Elite: Dangerous user base was actually affected by these issues. Not to trivialize them or anything. I wasn't personally affected but obviously many other were. If it is a small percentage of players then fixing the problem case-by-case would be a better option than a mass-rollback.
Frontier didn't expect people to be playing during the Holiday? I work at a computing facility that runs 24/7. I'm on the nightshift. If Frontier is going to operate a 24/7 online game franchise then they need to act like it. That means someone who can actually respond to a problem is available and ready to work the problem. If that means you bring the servers offline until you get it all sorted... well then you bring them offline. Much better to have players angry that they missed a few hours of game time then for them to find out that they've lost everything or have to worry that everyone else in the game is now a gazillionaire flying about in a maxed-out Anaconda.

    Hello,

On January 1st 2015 at 11pm GMT we had an issue with one of our databases. One of our engineers spotted this immediately and removed the database from circulation. This took around 2 hours to complete, test and make live to commanders. In this time, a relatively small number of commanders were affected by failed transactions and small losses in credits. These commanders should have received their refunds, along with a 20% bonus as in previous instances.

If you are still having problems, please create a support ticket for our customer support team via https://support.elitedangerous.com.

Finally, we do have 24/7 server engineer coverage over the holiday period to catch problems such as these. However, to further communicate these issues to commanders, we are currently working on creating a server status page where we can communicate any immediate issues or known problems. This should be live within the week.

Apologies again for the disruption in service.

    Fly safe commanders!

So no more transaction fails since Jan 1st?

While you are here I would like to get your attention to the sudden savegame issues that prevents alot of people from starting the game:

So 36 hours to actually get communication as to what went wrong, that is far too slow in informing people.
    .
Issues like this should have News Flash Headlines immediately.
    .
There were numerous requests for a Server Status Page in early Beta, should have obviously taken notice of peoples thoughts at that time.

Guys, give 'em a break. Happy New Year and all that...

  13. #73
My mate mate about 6-10mCR in just a few minutes through simply repeatedly setting his cargo, which didn't leave his ship each time!

And then of course we have my 5bCR man - http://massively.joystiq.com/2015/01...nt-billionair/

unlike eve online where isk is a direct link to real world currency, in this game there isnt that link so if someone is a billionare good luck to him, just means he can fly expensive stuff for a while and go whack some npcs for fun. Manipulate some markets and generally ahve some fun, but once its gone thats it.

Thanks for the info. Good to know what is actually going on. I feel confident now to resume playing.

A server status page is a very good idea indeed ;-)
