Welcome to Elite: Dangerous Update 1.1 Beta - Things we'd like you to do!

Welcome to the Elite Dangerous 1.1 Beta

    · This is a temporary test environment and as such the background simulation is not persistent.
    · All ships and modules are available for purchase from Dalton Gateway.
    · Note this is a test where story events are deactivated, and progress may be reset at any time
    · Participation in the test may provide spoilers by giving access to items that you do not currently own.
    · We will use the newsfeed to post information about what we would like you to help test.

    Bugs, Issues and Feedback

    · There is a new Elite Dangerous 1.1 Beta forum on the web site. Please use this to post your feedback and discuss any issues.
    · When ticketing problems please ensure you select the Help Topic
“Elite: Dangerous PTS / Report a problem”
    · Please include in the ticket summary the title of any task it relates to (i.e. Missiles and Point defense: Missiles fail to fire), as doing so will help us process your bug reports as quickly as possible.

Test Missile Effectiveness VS Trading and Combat Ships
    · Missiles, Type 6s, Type 9s, Vipers and Cobra MkIIIs have been reduced in cost to support testing.
    · Shields are now more effective at resisting damage from missiles of all types (including dumbfire, seeker and torpedo variants).
    · We have slowed down the flight speed of dumbfire missiles, although they are still the fastest missile type available.
    · We have increased the fire delay of dumbfire missiles, although they are still faster to fire than seeker missiles.
    · We’ve tweaked the rate at which dumfire missiles fire.
    · We’ve also fixed a bug that was preventing point defense turrets from being able to hit dumbfire missiles.

    Test the Friendly Fire System
When you shoot and hit a vessel you may be able to avoid committing a crime based on the following criteria:
    · The ship was *NOT* targeted by you – targeted ships cannot benefit from these rules
    · The ship was shielded – if you cause hull damage you will not benefit from these rules
    · The damage was minor – powerful weapons cannot benefit from these rules.
    · The damage is infrequent – repeated attacks cannot benefit from these rules.
If you have allied reputation with an NPC ship’s affiliated minor faction, the damage thresholds for turning a ship hostile are increased and the “must be shielded criteria” is removed.
If you are in a conflict zone the damage thresholds for turning allied ships hostile are significantly increased, and the “must be shielded” criteria is removed.

    Test Community Goals Through Participation
    · Community goals can be found at Starport Bulletin Boards and will be advertised in the Newsfeed.
    · Performing the action(s) as stated by the community goal will progress the initiative towards its goal whether you have signed up to participate or not.
    · You must sign up on the bulletin board to get the full benefit of the Community Goal rewards.
    · The more you contribute the more you are rewarded.
    · The Community Goal has a number of tiers that unlock as its aims are met. These tiers provide ever increasing rewards to both the community as a whole and to individual contributors.
    · Community goals last for a certain amount of time, although they can finish early if their final target is met.
    · If the goal is a success, rewards are unlocked by returning to the issuing Starport’s Bulletin Board to collect your reward.

Test Discovery Data and First Found
    · You should now be able to sell one page of exploration data at a time.
    · Route planning should now allow you to plan routes of up to 1000 light years.
    · You can now filter suns on the Galaxy Map. This change should make it easier to pre-identify systems where you cannot engage in fuel scooping.
    · You can now exit directly from the System Map back to the cockpit .
    · You should be told if you are the first person to have sold data on a system body.
    · If you are the first person to discover a system body the body should be tagged as having been discovered by your commander.

Test Station Responses and Ship to Ship Collisions
We have changed docking so that if you are on a station’s hostile list you will no longer be able to dock, this change ignores whether or not you were granted docking permission before the station turned hostile to you.
Point defense turrets should no longer cause stations to become hostile when activated.
We have tweaked the amount of damage a small ship can cause upon colliding with larger ships. It should no longer be possible for small ships to destroy large ships through kamikaze attacks.
We have also made improvements to AI docking and the docking computer.

Try to Kill the Capital Ship in Frigaha
We have rebalanced Capital Ships to make them more challenging and limit some of the previous exploits, all feedback about Capital Ship changes should be made on the forum.
Combat bonds now grant variable rewards based on the type of ship destroyed to obtain them.

Test if GUI Colour Changes are Persistent
Although unsupported, GUI changes should now be persistent.
Please test that any GUI customizations you make are maintained between updates.
Note this should now be modified in the new GraphicsConfigurationOverride.xml

    Test Interdiction
We have implemented a number of fixes which should insure all interdictions now pull both ships into the same session following a successful interdiction.

Jacques’ Roaming station is readying to depart
We are looking to test moving an Orbis between systems
The station is Jacques starport in Alshain
We will be moving the station during Fridays update.
It would be good to have a mix of people docked at the station and parked outside before it moves.
Test purchasing goods form the commodities market Particularly “Jaques Quinentian Still” before it moves
and selling them once it has moved.
