Title: Nowhere to Go but Down
    Drabble :
Frank watched sympathetically as Dar’koba trudged despondently from the bar. With a sigh, Frank turned back to his Janx.

Dar’koba, disappointed at not getting the position of Assistant-Head of Station-Security, wandered the corridors aimlessly. He had no ship, no credit and worse, no more self-respect.
He found himself at the Refuse Collection and Dispersal Unit, where rubbish was held prior to recycling or shipping out.

“How fitting.” He thought, slumping onto a dented and torn ship’s panel.

Agent P walked into the Thargoid-and-Fer-de-Lance.

“Where’s Dar’koba?” he asked Frank. “I thought he’d be here celebrating.”

“Nah! He’s down in the dumps.”

Title: The multi-million dollar upgrade - a tale of woe and fuxsuppery. (based on a true story)
    Drabble :
    At last. A new ship.

    Every penny spent.

Shields ripped out - more cargo space.
    Frameshift Drive - maxed.
Even the weapon bay looked formidable.

Maybe next upgrade the scanners. Then possibly the power-plant. It won't take long to raise money with this behemoth.

I had just enough money to fill the cargo holds. Spending my last penny on fuel I waited with anticipation as the launch pad released my shiny.

    "Engines disabled. Not enough power."
Oh, That's what the power-plants for.

    "$400 loitering fine."

    Re-dock please.

    "Please leave the station first."

3 weeks labour undone in 5 minutes.

    Elsewhere, Tammy sharted.

    Title: Disappointed
    Drabble :
The last flight of the day, I prayed the station unmanned
Docking clearance was granted, without being scanned
I’d returned full of gold, from a mission afar
And all I could think of was a drink, at the slingshot bar
With my cargo now sold, my hold was all empty
With the credits I’d made, the beer would be plenty
Sometime around midnight, with my mind in a spin
I showed the bar maid my Python, and we quietly sneaked in
Once the haze was cleared, I saw my error in brag
Before me sprawled out, was Docstone in drag!

    Drabble :
    'OWWWWW careful there mate '

'I've got to get dis app ointment in the right place for it to work'

'No use rushing now we've definitely missed dis appointment damn that kow'

'Well stop groaning and rolling like a Dippy point man '

'I think my legs broken Do you even know how to fix a joint?'

'Just lie back and i'll crack the leg into place so I don't miss a point'

'You'd think this sort of thing wouldn't happen on kow tours, how did he hit that asteroid anyway?'

'Suicide. I heard him say ' And with dis asp I anoint'

    Title: Dis-Appointed
    Drabble :
Before the office door Lieutenant Psykokow hesitated. Admiral Frank had a fearsome reputation for dressing down officers. Psykokow steeled himself and entered.

Resplendent in silk and gold braid, Frank exploded when he saw the junior officer.
"Call those rags a uniform? Dishcloths! Don't slouch! You call that a six pack? I've seen firmer jellies! You call those muscles? My mum could hit harder then you! And those eyes, how do you see though all that mascara? Bet you couldn't fly a ship straight if it was on autopilot! We'd best find out! Take command of Federal Corvette Agamemnon, Captain! Dismissed!”

Title: DR Ted is a nonce and has nothing to do with this Drabble
    Drabble :
Reality shifted and primal energies writhed as the Anaconda entered normal space. Space again was torn asunder as three Vipers emerged from FTL Space and took up formation around the cruiser.

Powerful sensors punched through space, painting a picture of hell itself on the Anaconda’s view screens. Of the four Orcas only one remained intact; its drives melted, its hull burnt and holed. Through the large, laser scarred windows the passengers’ bodies floated; twisted and broken, frozen in agonised eternity.

“CMDR! We have the pirate’s jump vector, plotting it now.”

“Spool the drives. We will not be disappointed this time….”

    Title: Reassignment
    Drabble :
High above Capitol, the Fretensis orbited, her hull pale blue from the illumination of Achenar’s sun.
In her CiC, Trierarchus Marcellus paced. They’d been here a week now after delivering Senator Torval for a Senatorial meeting without new orders.
One of the communications team, Signifier Titus approached with a dataslate. “Sir, transmission from the Achenar Praefectus Clasis.”
Snatching the dataslate from the ratings hand, he quickly decoded it. Was this a chance to earn battle honours in Themiscrya as part of Senator Patreus pending campaign perhaps?
The disappointment was shattering. They were being sent to Synteni to perform anti-piracy operations.

    Title: Out in the void
    Drabble :
Maybe this one will be different?' Psykokow said to Frank as their Asp jumped into the system. Eagerly they fired the ADS. The parp of the space horn reverberated through the ship.
'Icy planets, rocky planets, asteroid belts... nothing of interest here' Frank observed glumly.
    'We'll try the next one'
    The search carried on until...
There on the system map was a blue planet, the pair looked at each other hardly daring to believe it. Could this possibly be an earth like? 'Kow moved the cursor over it. 'First discovered by Simon Winnard' read the legend.
    'Noooo' they both cried

Title: Where is the quality content?
Drabble : A sigh, softly exhaled, tickled his ears.
"This is not what I was hoping for".

His heart sank a little and he launched himself into an effort to defend his purchase.
"It's top of the range stuff. Technically it's of a really high standard, and it's cheaper than the budget you stipulated."

"I'd much rather have paid more for something with quality content, than this.... "

"Trading is about taking good opportunities and spending money to make more money.

You really just don't have a brain..... for this business, Simoof

The stuff is of a good technical standard, but.... Susan Boils?"

Title: Little Boy Blue and the Man on the Moon
Drabble : Max seemed agitated. "It was great seeing you Dad, but I've got to get back to work."

"Sure son. I was so close I just had to swing by. We should have a tennis match sometime. A ship this big you'll get plenty practice in free fall. You might have a chance at beating your old man." He looked around the cabin. "What are you hauling anyway?"

Max looked at his feet as his father checked the itinerary.

"Slaves? There are slaves in the cargo hold?"

Max continued to stare down at his feet.

"My son is a slave trader."

    Title: Nanodrabblow
Drabble : Fingers trembling, Frank unwrapped the package. By size it must be from The Publisher -- a dataslate engraving of his first proper book.

All that work, all those hours spent. It wouldnae've happened without that hyperspace glitch, on the jump to Leesti.

Instead of taking thirty seconds to arrive, it took thirty days. By the time he blinked back into normspace, he had a novel.

That would show Simoof and Doc, Twisted and Mogadon, Darkoba and Winnard. Naysayers, curse them.

The paper came off. Frank held the dataslate triumphantly. And saw the title.

"Drabblissiminimus - A Memoir of the Craft, by Psykokow."

Title: "A Lipple Ship Who Farped"
    Drabble :
    This disappointing tale of woe
Comes from the heart of Winnard's Hole
    -------------------------

    Edward was no longer here.
He was no longer even near.
    His whereabouts as yet unclear
and so they called him "Far Ted"

He had a book he couldn't write,
His letter "T"s had taken flight,
    Disappeared into the night
and soon to follow "Far Ted"

He searched the old, explored the new
For letter lost 'tween S and U
    Sadness now inside him grew.
    Disappointed "Far Ted"

He never found the missing "T"s
    Instead he substituted "P"s.
    His book, named after "Listeri",
    "A Lipple Ship Who Farped"

    Title: Double the Dismay
Drabble : "Just let me off the ship," pleaded Kalran.

Rose shook her head. "No, you're a risk and we don't need you pointing your finger our direction. You're staying."

She left Kalran's room and secured it, double-checking communications lockout.

"We're ready to launch," stated Seamus. "There are reports of bounty hunters nearby. Time to slip out. Bloodless, you ready, mate?"

"No, we need ta ditch this crazy Hindu. He's been howling all week o'er what we done to 'is Orca. Lemme kill 'im."

"Not happening," said Rose as she buckled in. "Like it or not, I'm keeping an eye on him."

Title: Three Really Isn't a Magic Number
Drabble : I first heard the word Troilism at Mistress Payne's Correctional Establishment.

On querying the meaning, and being pleasantly surprised that dwarves weren’t involved, I left my manuscript for proof-reading and immediately departed.

Hurrying homeward, I paused briefly to forewarn my good lady, Clamydia, of my intentions; requesting that she find a willing participant amongst her numerous friends.

At home, after Clamydia had introduced her friend, newly returned from Paris, and coincidentally well-versed in this very practise, we set to with vigour.

Truthfully, despite my wife’s encouragement and that of her friend, Mike Coxwells, it was not all I had hoped.

Title: Sleepless nights - the price of peace
Drabble : Telakin looks at the mission counter "Remaining time: 30 hours".

It has been a busy week, hauling nearly 1.000.000 tonnes of metals to Herreshoff Gateway in Kwatee, fighting pirates, training newbies, calculating strategies.

His group, the Mercs of Mikunn, are building themselves a new station and tier 3 - already a close call - should bring a commodity market, crucial to sustain the station in the long run, Tier 8 would have brought a shipyard, but only if the contract ran for another 490 days, give or take a few.

"Disappointment? No, we are getting us a shiny new home!"

Title: What the brochures don't tell you!
Drabble : For the first few days she'd been overwhelmed by the nausea, not to mention the little oompa shapes that can-canned across her vision. Shrooms without the fun.
Last night it had settled enough that she could relax into the dinner, and even enjoy the weightless dancing after whilst the Orca spun gently above the earth-like's metallic ring.
Initially offended at the suggestion of a cruise she was now glad she'd relented, waking this morning had felt blissful.

    Except.
The initial skip to the bathroom gone she scowled whilst attaching herself, then winced at the vacumn sucking.

    Yup, definitely no poo-phoria.

    Title: Heritage
Drabble : I could taste victory was close.
I had chased this asp from Lave to Veamit.
Now my interdict unit BITES HARD on his ship and we we’re alone at last.
My coms burst into life with the usual begging and tales of family waiting somewhere for them to return home with essential food… blah blah blah
I continue to fire until something makes me smile
    “target shields offline”
Now sweet crumps as kinetic rounds pound their way through my targets hull..
Then protestations over coms cease, and boom, silence.
It’s time to visit his family… wouldn’t want to disappoint them..

I'd kept the entry open for a little longer to see if we could get a few more Drabbles in. I gathered my notes together and trudged over to the thread. I posted my notice to say that entries were no closed for the week. It wasn't until I'd looked up that I'd noticed Psykokow's post saying he'd already done it.

It gets even better. Erik Marcaigh might be hosting next week, and it sounds like he'll be hosting the show whilst drunk

Having have a quick scan of the entries this week, I have to be honest and say that I would rather have read a tome of Vogon poetry. *SIGH* Whatever happened to the soaring standards of byegone weeks? I don't know how I'll ever get over this....

And no-one has even bothered to vote yet..... so fitting

I dont vote before the readings, and then sometimes if there looks like a tie I will save my vote to break it. But I always vote.

I know. I can't even count the number of infractions he's given me, just for being disappointed with my behavior. (And occasionally my spelling of 'behavior' as well.)

I'm sorry I couldn't enter a drabble this week, I fell ill and my own outbursts of disappointment which went all blaaarpp and mhuurgh for a couple of days. I'm almost back to normal (within reason) now so I've cast my votes and will submit a drabble next week if I can squeeze one in between working away and annual leave

Great Tunes to Supercruise to - p.s. have you tried ABRAKA DRABBLE?

Well, to be fair I'm with him on the spelling. Have you ever thought about all those homeless 'u's mericans have left behind? Poor things.

As for Ian between the drabbling and assassination he's had a disappointing week. (@Ian, Did you figure out where that came from btw?)
Edit: ignore me, you'd drip know, just read the thread

Thanks for the show kow, looking forward to listening.
