    Title: Piracy is a Crime
Drabble : "Ensign Spookes was tense. ""They know about the royal jewellery. They're here to steal them. The sensor scan showing them clean means nothing."" The star galleon returned sensor scan. ""Look at the depth of that scan! They are checking every nut and bolt, looking for vulnerabilities for when they ambush us in supercruise.""

The captain replied ""Let them try. This is the latest design of cruiser. There's nothing like it out in space. Knowing about weaknesses doesn't mean you can exploit them.""

The pirate examined the plans to their new cruiser. He then plotted a course to the ship builders."

    Title: Pirate or Hero
Drabble : "The sleek, reptilian ship sliced through space with barely a whisper. It handled like a dream, the latest Federation technology coursing through the vessel ensured that it ran so cold it was invisible to all sensors.

He pushed the engines further and lined up on the Imperial Cruiser arming the four stealth lasers as the ship almost positioned itself on target. He laughed as he overshot the craft, boosting away into the darkness.

The Imperial officer on the bridge smiled as his new ship passed. An act of blatant piracy or the actions of a hero he thought to himself?"

Title: There is always a bigger fish out there
Drabble : "The pirate in his Cobra smiled as the gemstone canister from the Sidewinder debris of his latest victim was scooped up.

The Cobra's navigation system was already set to his usual buyer for these goods.

As he was about to jump to hyperspace a cold shiver ran down his spine. Quickly followed by the nozzle of a stun gun placed at the base of his neck.

The canister was a cunning hiding place.

This fearless new pirate had no reservations in pirating from other pirates.

With his new slaves and a new ship, he moved off looking for new opportunities."

    Title: Tough Competition
Drabble : "Flour from Lave, milk from the Diso cows.
Only the best ingredients will do, and a very tight crust and solid shape.
Any rough edge or raised part of pastry could cost them dearly.
Meat or Fruit? The Eternal debate in the bakers mind.. which is tastiest and lighter?
Once it’s cooked and golden its time to line them up, its time for the competition to start.
The Judges sit savouring the pastry offerings...
3 2 1 go, and the food gets pushed off, the best one gliding speedilly over the finish line first.
Thats a good Pie race see!."

    Title: Good Samaritan
Drabble : "The Cobra tumbles through the 'roids, spitting sparks as her weakening distress signal pulses out. I bring my ship closer and flick on the searchlight.

Cargo hold is blown. Hull breached. Only one hardpoint. What were they thinking, bringing one gun to Espedail? At least the pirates left her in one piece. More or less.

I heave to, suit up and board her.

The crew are bloodied and unconscious. A father and daughter. She can't be older than 7 years old. I patch them up then take them aboard my ship.

They should be worth a few hundred credits portside."

    Title: That Special Place
    Drabble : "Dark.

In space only stars give light so finding something in a star system doesn't rely on sight alone.

But here there was not even a heat signature, their destination was well hidden.

Reighdar called up the signature code his contact had given him and, not without some trepidation, keyed it into the comms unit.

    Nothing.

""Well, that's an anticlimax. no response. We'll just have to avoid getting scanned until we can get this stuff to a black market""

Suddenly the 'Hostile Scan' warning lit up.

In the darkness a light winked and the comms spoke.

    ""Welcome to Pirates Bay"""

    Title: The Pirates Of Riedquat
    Drabble : "Pirates:
    With Cat-Like Tread
    Upon our prey we steal
    In silence dread
    Our cautious way we feel
    No sound at all
    We never speak a word
    A fly's foot-fall
    Would be distinctly heard

    Police:
    Viper Viper, Viper, Viper.

    Pirates:
    So stealthily the pirate creeps
While all the station soundly sleeps

Come friends, who witch space see
    Set your navigation
    Time to board the station
    Let's vary piracy
    With a little burglary

    Samuel:
    Here's your Cobra
    And your false identity
    Your meson carbine
    As last resort you see

    Your UV goggles
    Your dark flashlight seize
    Take thermite
    And your electronic keys

    Police:
    Viper Viper, Viper, Viper."

    Title: Man in the Middle
Drabble : "Listen, I ain't saying I'm a good guy. But on the frontiers, you gotta get by somehow. There’s a food chain out there, and we ain't even the ones on top.

The poor schmucks at the bottom, traders and miners with no better place to go, they got it worst. No mercy for them. They’re our prey, we can’t afford to be getting sympathetic now.

But us, we got it hard too. Is that trader a trap? Is some hunter lurking in shadows? We's always watching our back, else we end up prey too.

All part of the game, see."

    Title: Ram Raider
Drabble : "The pilot would be gone for hours, maybe a day, and the flight technician couldn't blame him after those long months exploring, logging the data of countless unknown star systems.

He was entitled to blow off steam in whatever way this crappy isolated station could offer.

Systems checked out fine... EM damage minor, nothing swapping out a few computer modules wouldn't cure. Cheap tuneup.

It would be weeks before he got back to Fedspace and discovered his booty was now dummy binary junk.

Pocketing the module and whistling the tech, clocked off.

Yaar! indeed. Forget that lasers and eyepatch stuff.

    Title: Pirated Pirate
Drabble : "Things were going well for Captain Kidd. His crew had found a solitary space-cow full of luxury goods. The trader had grumbled, but handed over half his cargo.

Even at black market rates, an Anaconda hold full of luxuries would turn a handsome profit. Now it was time to offload the booty. Suddenly there was the sickening sound of the interdiction warning. Was it the law or another pirate?

Three Cobras from Blackbeard's gang approached. After a tense stand off, he released some cargo. They were too evenly matched to risk fighting. As the Cobra's left he muttered 'Damn pirates.'"

I'm sure there's some sort of Darren Brown-style psykological trickery going on here but I can't quite figure out how it's being done.

Watch out! Keep your eyes away from Psykokow's rotating balls!

Too late... I ended up voting for him <sigh>.

Brushing those hypnotic balls* aside, I think red being a universal 'danger, keep away' kind of colour might be having an effect.

Sporting self-knobbling in a true British fashion, sir!

Lovely bunch of marauding throat-cutting Drabbles everybody.

*Does having disco balls involve some sort of pejazzling?

I feel kinda sorry for Psykokow. His first avatar would've suited this subject to a tee. But he's stuck in his moderator's uniform.
