    Hi David,

My question is what's status of Wings/Alliances for gamma? I know it might get added later, but for reviews and overall satisfaction it would be essential to have that in game. And I mean quite basic support

Thanks (was a huge fan btw)
I'm sorry you're upset. We do have a refunds policy, so you should get in touch. Please consider that we have been backed to make the game we were backed to make as best we could. This includes hard decisions (and many easy ones too), but those hard ones are inevitably balancing one thing with another. For me, quality wins, and that is what happened with this decision. Not everyone may agree with every decision.

Have you played the game? Why is the offline (as opposed to single player, which I understand) mode so important to you?

As development has progressed, it has become clear that this last assumption is not the case. That experience would be empty at best, and even that would take a lot of extra work.

It is not to enforce DRM or advertising as you suggest. We will be judged on quality, and the quality of that game experience would be poor, and we don't want to deliver a poor game. To make a richer offline single player experience has always been possible (and still is) but would be a separate game with its own story content. A huge slice of separate work. We have developed a multi-player game with an unfolding story involving the players, and groups collaborating with specific objectives and taking account of all players behaviour. This is what the game is about. Without this it would not be the rich gaming experience that we will deliver, and would be a great disappointment to all players.

I don't pretend it was an easy decision, but it was done to benefit the game as a whole. One thing we have looked at carefully is our requirements of the network connection. For the single player game they are pretty light. I myself have played the game fine on the train using a laptop on a tethered connection over my phone. Given that this is a game which is only available online, this was the decision we took. I am sorry that people are so upset about it, but it was the right decision.
That's an excellent reply David, and something I've been waiting to read for 4 days since Black Friday.

Given that you say a rich offline single player experience is still possible, do you think the demand is there for that, and if so, would you consider it as a (separate) project for FD in the future? Parts of it must surely already be written - just residing in a different place.

Hi Mr Braben, can you tell us more about the ALLIANCE system in place in order to play with friends (WING system)

    Hi David,

Can you confirm, when the game is released, that Beta backers will be able to Beta the new content to be added to the game, later on next year?

That must not have been easy surely some degree of backlash was to be anticipated. It's unfortunate how it unfolded but I appreciate the answer in the matter hopefully this will help some.

    Hi David,

Why is it that in a future that involves space travel, no station builder has managed to clearly indicate where the entrance to the station is upon approach from space unless you are facing it directly?

Can we have a flow of lights, or arrows on the small target model pointing to the entrance for stations like the Coriolis starports?

    Thanks ;-)

Hi David, I have a question regarding game mechanics, I'm seeing that the federal distress beacon and other conflicts are being moved around, but there doesn't seem to be an end to these scenarios, capital ship doesn't jump out if it's rescued, the war doesn't show a clear winner, at least within that particular zone.

I am wondering if the team plans on making these more dynamic, fully randomized events, where there is actually a clear winner and loser in these warzones. Or the capital does get destroyed/saved etc, and that perhaps the winners will get paid a significant amount for aiding in these places? Because right now it feels static, will we see changes to this anytime soon? Thank you.

They are the absolute best - things would literally fall apart without them.

We will find a way of saying thanks, don't you worry!

Thanks for everyone's questions so far.

Appreciate the answer, it would have been easy to miss the question and I respect that.

    Hi!
I'm very looking forward to the moment when the "wipe-reins" are being released and the game finally starts.
Best wishes for release and that everything works!

We stuck with reality, but the reality is pretty amazing. The frequency of binary planets was one thing that surprised me.

So the 22nd we can play for real,so there will be no more wipes?
Also what time is the final wipe on the 22nd?
