    [DRABBLES] Passenger Ships poll

Welcome aboard, dear passengers, as we take you on a journey to drabbles that will twist your mind and disturb your soul! Aye, for this is the dreaded ship of insanity, piloted by beings you would never wish to meet in the depths of night. And alas, in space it is always night...

Your duty, delicious passenger, is to vote for your favourites. The rules:
    - Choose exactly 3 drabbles
    - Do not vote for your own!
    - Do not obey the dastardly solicitations or pathetic whining for votes from others (but feel free to whine and solicit to your heart's content)
    - The winner shall choose the destination of this terrible cruise as it sails to a new topic next week
    - Votes end after 3 Sol standard days

Remember that anyone can vote, tasty passenger! Just because you're new here or haven't written a drabble doesn't preclude you from taking part in our orgy of madness.

Now please, lie back and enjoy the ride. It shall be our pleasure, I assure you...

    The Drabbles!

    1. Rescued -- Darkoba

    “How long were you captive?”

“About seven months,” she said, “I was taken from a cruise ship.”

    “What happened?”

“We’d jumped to Phekda. Some ships started firing lasers. Shots hit our shields, lighting them up. Everyone thought it was a tourist show. Then it became obvious that it was a serious attack.”

    “How did it become obvious?”

“The back end of our ship fell off! Pressure dropped. Bulkheads locked. Outside I saw wreckage and bodies drifting!”

    “How did you survive?”

"My section of hull stayed intact. They found me, put me in their brothel and used me as a... chamber-maid."

    2. A Fresh Start -- Musashi

Becky relaxed in the one of the sumptuous leather couches in the lounge of the luxury yacht 'Distant Horizons'. She could finally leave it all behind. Her past. The squalor and deprivation and addiction; all that pain and misery.

She had scraped together every credit she could and bought passage on the first ship with a destination she’d never heard of. Should be far enough away.

Becky glanced over at those passengers whose bodies lay sprawled by the doorway. She would airlock them and the remaining corpses later. Yes - today was the first day of the rest of her life...

    3. The Passenger -- The Lone Gunman

Thousands screamed and hollowed with excitement behind barriers

Desperate to glance the POP star amongst the passengers boarding the luxurious passenger ship The Hengist Duval

Susan Boils couldn’t believe it, she screech with excitement as she walked the plank way, blowing kisses towards the crowds

Suddenly the crowds roar erupted widely as someone stepped out of a limousine

Long blond hair, bare chested, muscular, waving at the crowds they were there for him!!

Susan stormed up to him in a miff “who are you? Am the pop diva here!”

“Me?” he said “am just a passenger, they call me Iggy”

    4. To the Tune of the Love Boat Theme -- Frank

Lave! From the writings of Drew.
    Come on board,
    We're expecting you.

    Lave! The beginner's world.
    Come let's go.
    We'll float there for you.

    The Laaave! boat,
will soon be making another run.

    The Laaave! boat.
    Just don't expect any fun.

    Set a course for adventure,
but mind you can't move or dance.

Goin' to Lave, will be a bit of a bore.
    You're not in control.
    You can't pilot no more.

    The Laaave! boat.
    Soon be making another run

    The Laaave! boat,
    just don't expect any fun.

    It is Laaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaave!
    It is Laaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaave!
    Welcome to boredom,
    goin' to Lave.

    5. Honeymoon -- Luniticisi

A holiday in Sol is what they were promised and nothing was going to stop that dream, not even the pirate attack.

"Mount the Ion cannon Mildred" Albert shouted to his wife.

"Are you trying to be funny?" Mildred asked not knowing what an Ion cannon was.

"Just shoot the pirates, we have no insurance for this trip!"

Mildred screamed "No insurance, I gave you the credits for the insurance"

"We are about to die, shoot the cannon!" Albert pleaded.

"That was my fathers money!" Mildred shouted as the hull was breached.

"I'll tell you what, if we survive this...

    6. Missing Concierge -- Bikky

‘Impressive cabin views, soft beds stuffed with feathers of the Tionislan parrot, Luxurious bathing facilities, all food prepared by a ten star Faulcon De-Lacy chef, a Concierge to cater to your EVERY need.’ She emphasised the word Every. ‘This is what the advert said.’

‘And indeed that’s exactly what this vessel provides, ma’am.’

‘So where’s my Concierge, I want a glamorous one, female, long legs, to cater to MY needs, just like that one behind you.’ She said pointing to the stunning scantily clad female behind the captain.

‘That is all available ma’am, for those who have not stowed away.’

    7. Jewel -- Ian Phillips

In the dark sky, pleasure cruisers are lit up like a jewel floating on black silk sheets. Sheer extravagance exudes from the vast undimmed windows, drowning out the starlight.

Romance has to be sought for in the shadow- rich seclusion of the sky viewing lounges. Artificial candlelight, discrete waiters and a table for two, with the stars of the galaxy as a backdrop.

Softly spoken words weave a pattern of seduction. The young man, unused to the luxurious surroundings, fidgets whilst concentrating on his paramours lips. She smiles knowingly, allowing her anticipation to show.

The black silk sheets await them.

    8. Baby Do Ya Wanna Bump? -- MikeSnos

Waking up, Liz looked around slowly and saw, to her horror, that instead of being on the 'Night Flight to Venus' she was, instead, looking down on 'The Rivers of Babylon'.

Pausing for a moment, Liz thought, "I'm Ten Thousand Lightyears away". Thinking further she realised that she'd boarded the wrong ship when she left Shinrarta Dezhra.

Liz hazily recalled entering a hostelry by the name Fer-de-Lance, she remembered walking up to the bar and ordering a drink... or two... or...

    Ah!

Now Liz recalls how she ended up on the wrong ship... She'd flirted with 'Daddy Cool' aka Psykokow!

    9. Dresscode -- T.j

    'It's Sir's eveningwear I'm afraid Sir.'

'Whaddya mean? Its black-tiethingy innit?' He spluttered waving the gilt-edged invitation.

'Yes...Sir. But, on the Starship Titanic within the Captain's first-class restaurant, we adhere to maintain certain..........Standards?'

'But, ere's me bowtie, dressyshirt, dinnerjacket.' His finger stabbed at each aforementioned apparel,

As I've recounted Sir, we have many VIPs on this inaugural cruise to Lave, with Sir's best intentions, Sir's........ Attire is somewhat lacking in the level of requirement.'

Even for a lifeless machine the Butlerbot's final statment was coldly disparaging.

    'Have a good evening...........Sir.'

The Tuxedo styled onsie clad passenger slunk dejectedly away.

    10. Space Chase -- Cathy

The noise! The screams! Hostiles flanking us. Slavers... pirates... thargoids! Their vile mouths rattle with glee. They're spinning a web, tightening around my feet... It's a spider, its huge hairiness grappling my limbs. My legs won't move. It's going to eat me and the vultures are pecking out my eyes... I pound the lid as gasses hiss and there's suction and glare and I retch over the side.

A thin old man watches me from the adjacent tube. He snorts.

"Did you eat some bad cheese before you went under?"

No more economy travel. The stasis nightmares are killing me.

    11. Impounded -- JeffRyan

"What do you mean my ship has been impounded," growled Davin.
"I'm sorry sir, you know the rules," replied the stern police officer.
    "But...”
“Well until you pay the thousand credit fine your ship isn't leaving the station.”
Davin switched off the comm with disgust.
The comm signalled again, "Two of us to Diso, no questions." The vidcomm was off.
Davin did some maths in his head, "Sure, but you know that's gonna cost."
"Two thousand now. Fifteen when we reach Diso."
Davin considered the thousand credit fine.
    "We have a deal."
Of course, there were the Imperial entanglements.....

    12. Syren -- el_tel

"Scan her," Captain Cutlass ordered his XO.

"FL4965 Sir. Designation 'Syren'. Stellar-class luxury cruiser, outbound to the Elyssius Rings."

    "Excellent. Initiate deep scan."

    "Aye aye Sir"

"Juicy", smiled the Captain. "Just how I like 'em... Shields up! Broadcast surrender terms, and deploy weapons."

    "Aye aye Sir".

The deep scan results started to arrive.

"Err...", said the XO, "Deep scan shows only one life-sign, and the passenger accommodation appears to be full of energy banks"

Then FL4965 began deployment of it's rather formidable armament and sent a message:

"Greetings Scum! My name is Commander Adama, and I accept your surrender."

    13. Honeymooners -- insanephoton

'Frank dearest, you still haven't said where we are going for our honeymoon.'

'It's a surprise, Cathy. Trust me darling you're going to love it.'

'I hate surprises. We're at the interstellar terminal so it must be a flight to another system. Oh Frankie, you know how much I hate stasis tubes. Those things give me the creeps.'

Just then a ship came into view. It was one of the new Orca yachts.

'No stasis tubes this time. Mr. Brookes was very grateful for how we dealt with that awful Pyskokow. He's loaned us his private stateroom on the Excelsior.'

    14. Spew Spew... -- sjmQ

Seven parsecs into the Blackwater nebula is the research station – Parmalat 3. To reach it you have to travel through the infamous Halcyon Drift, a region of space littered with singularities, gamma bursts, temporal rifts, you name it – it’s a wild ride.

I can handle it – with the right combination of illegal drugs, but the passengers… well, not so much.

For this run, I can charge enough to replace my passenger module after each trip and still make a profit.

As the passengers come aboard, I hand them a large plastic bag and a pistol.

    Yes... it is ‘that’ bad.

    15. Passenger Shi*s -- Psykokow

‘Geez ‘ the strain was audible ‘what the hell was that’
‘I dunnoh but I feel your pain’
‘Aah’ more strain ‘How can this happen?’
‘I know, its awful... i can barely breath’
‘OH GOD SAVE ME’ a huge strain ‘I think Im going to split open’
‘My chest is thumpi ng soo hard’
‘What the hell was it? The Steak?’
‘I think it may have been the Terrimazoo’
    ‘I didn’t have that... ‘ STRAIN!!
    *SPLASH*
    ‘OH MY GOD Its MOVING’
    ‘Geeesus’
    ‘Its coming towards you.... run’
‘its got my shoe.... help call security’
    ‘Hold on I’ll flush’
    ‘aaaaah better’

    16. Murder Mystery -- Darren Grey

“Murder!” she cried, examining the body.

The captain’s eyebrows jumped a full two inches. “Murder? On my ship?” This wouldn’t do, this wouldn’t do at all. “First Mate, lock down the ship. No one leaves till we find out who did this.”

“Aye, captain,” she responded. She hit the controls to put the Orca on lock-down.

“Now, get me the list of passengers, their locations, and all possible murder weapons. We’ll figure this mystery out.”

“Well captain, Miss Scarlett was in the library with a candlestick...”

The captain sighed as he listened. Perhaps naming his ship “Cluedo” was a mistake.

Don't let that horrible dictator, Darren, tell you what to do. If you want to be swayed by the whining of whinging contestants then that's up to you.

On a completely unrelated manner. I'd like to point out that I had to listen to the theme to Love Boat again and again until my ears bled. Yes, maybe some of the lyrics could have been written better, but I claim extenuating circumstances. I had been listening to the Love Boat theme over and over again.

I can still hear the tune echoing about in my head. Please vote for me.

Tough choices there. I had to actually write down names this time and re-read to eliminate the choices.

The quality is getting much better. Even Kow was re-read there for a moment, then I realised I don't vote for him on principal (I dreading when it's pick on Bikky time )

And WOW! 5 Votes, I've surpassed myself

Yes that's correct folks, a vote for Frank IS a vote for the Love Boat theme.

The thing to remember is that it's an anonymous vote, so if you secretly like the theme to The Love Boat, you can vote for me... and nobody will know

    I can't believe I've got 7 votes.

If we abduct Cathy, does that mean I'll win

I'll tie her up to my bed, in the bedroom with the log burner in, next to my mrs. Feeding two people won't be much more hassle than feeding one, just for a week.

Cathy seems to be romping home with her Drabble.

Not surprised though it's a excellent Drabble.

I'm more than pleased with 5. One more than when psykokow won the duel in the previous round, make of that what you will.
