Yep the game enigne is broken like it was with the SC Stuttering Bug... i´ve already made a suggestion to hide some programmer proffesianal but there seems to be no money for that.
See that's the thing, it is stutter free now for me at least...1.3 had stutter and jitter especially around planets, now? nada.

with so many things postponed to be fixed with 1.5 i hope we'll see this update in less than one month right? :p

1.5 will be released the same day as Horizons.

The way things are going and with the lack of fixes before the release of 1.5, I can see 1.5 being an even bigger bug fest than 1.4 currently is!

But, "Hey", as long as we can land on planets, right? That should hopefully distract us....

Poor, just poor.

So how long are the servers down for?

As the title says. Was looking forward to a nice couple of hours of playing Elite: Dangerous, but noticed they're upgrading the servers. Unfortunately, I can't seem to access the site that tells me how long they'll be down for. Anyone here know?

CMDR Marcus Hicks.

Why are you surprised? 'twas ever thus. This is the company that released 1.0 with all sorts of gaps in the functionality, and instead of fixing those gaps they focussed on new 'shinies' (wings, CGs, powerplay). It is the way they operate. This close to Christmas, with a big, big, moneyspinner for FD that has to be landed, as many resources as possible will be focused on Horizons.

I think you are missing the bigger picture and misunderstanding the whole point of iterative development, let me explain.
The team are working on multiple branches or versions of the game concurrently.
When released the current version is effectively in 'maintenance mode' rather than active development.

Case in point, people have raised a few issues regarding planet rendering e.g. stutter and flickering.
If 1.5 introduces a whole new way of rendering the planets, it makes little sense to pour a lot of time and resource patching the current branch; when a fix is already inbound in the next version.

There is no malicious intent, FD are merely being cost effective with their available resource.
I hope that helps explain the method.

Nope from lowest to highest GFX setting makes no difference.
i also upgraded from a gtx 980 to a gtx 980 ti and that made no difference either.
I dont know why they keep on saying its an AMD problem as half of the people with this problem are on Nvidia cards.

AMD supercruise fps... Orbit Lines you say?

It seems AMD related, hopefully they will fix it fast though, that said have you tried turning down graphics? is there any point where FPS jumps up? asking because it might be that it could help zero in on the bug and get it fixed faster

Hmm interesting... I have noticed I got 59.9fps near planets, but will get as low as 22.1fps when I'm travelling around a large system and come to think of it, when there are a lot of orbit lines!

I am going to test this in an hour.

I never have them on and still have this problem.

for the framerate problems i didnt so much get luck tryin to find the problem, tho i did get the game work nicely when downgradin from windows 10 to 8.1 with same 15.10 beta drivers, no drastic framerate drops on supercruise, playin 1440p/ultra without vsync i get about 170-100 fps with my system :) maybe the problem for amd cards performance on the windows 10 got to be somewhere on windows files(directx etc) but enough that, good job frontier for bringin this game .. keep up the good work!!

Don´t forget to use a headtracker or VR! You can only see the jittering if you look around... thats why some people see it and other don´t.
This issue is well known by FD but still under investigation... i don´t hope that this issue use to be solve as long as the sc stuttering bug about one year!

I agree this is all about "Lack of resource" However if you assume they take 1.4 as is and develop 1.5. If they do not squish the current bugs 1.5 changes will only add to the bug list. If Horizons is 1.5 with Planets it will end up with 1.4 bugs, 1.5 bugs and 2.0 bugs. Yes minor bugs that do not impact gameplay are low priority. But as they increase in number the quality of the finished product will deteriorate. Also what was the point of us Beta testing 1.4 if bugs we reported may not get fixed until 1.5. or may never get fixed.
