Recommend an immediate hot fix to restore some confidence, you broke it fix it. nothing worst than seeing a game like this start going backwards. however that is whats happening.
I've seen a ton worse bugs in a lot of other games yet people kept playing them, maybe instead throttle back just a bit and give them a chance to do stuff? yes it definitely sucks, however the game can still be enjoyed, and we have no idea as players what code is doing what bug, I can tell you that what might SEEM a simple fix for players, can be very complicated code behind it, course depends on the bug itself, but please stop saying they aren't working on it and calling them lazy and such, unless you, yourself are developing a game please?

Well that was a next to useless patch not worth the time it took to download (20 Seconds), FD your shinny new game is deteriorating please fix the growing list of basic bugs as soon as possible, i was excited about horizons but my confidence in FD is deteriorating faster than the game, if you cant get this simple stuff right... well it only gets harder from here. you need to patch again very soon not a month from now..... I hate to be harsh but your current strategy.schedule is lazy. If you cant fix simple stuff like 10cr repair and font colors what hope for running around on planets

I also agree. What is Frontier doing? They have a superb opportunity to make a lot of money from a fanatical group of players who WILL invest in add-ons, skins, oddities and merchandise because we LOVE this game.
We would even pour in more money just to keep the game afloat if we thought there was serious financial difficulties ... and yet we are rewarded with weeks and months of irritating defects that fail to get fixed. New features that no one asked for and seem to be sucking up development time (Powerplay and in particular CQC), seasonal add ons that have no delivery date or non-superficial description and servers/networking that week after week spoil the game for a lot of people.
Take the Anaconda scanner defect as an example. The Anaconda is, because of the price, a ship that only people willing to commit to ED can purchase. Despite that there's been a glaring cosmetic defect throughout 1.4 BETA and 1.4 AND 1.4.01. It would have taken half an hour to fix and made a lot of people very happy and been great PR but NO ... it's still not fixed. Frontier just seem to have no idea how to actually satisfy their customers and we certainly let them know what is required. All they have to do is read this Forum and see what people WANT and what people DON'T WANT and what people seriously OBJECT to but again, NO, they do what THEY think is best and then, as today, suffer the reputational consequences.
Frontier, as has been said here a lot: stop new development, we will WAIT. What we won't wait much longer for is a robust, fully working version of the existing game with few or no defects. You are really REALLY losing your audience.

Yes the game can still be enjoyed unless your mining (Bugged) or exploring (long lag in hyperspace bug) or trading (interdiction's are completely out of balance) so what can we enjoy.....trying to repair our ship nooo... im a bit perplexed what part were enjoying, before 1.4 i was enjoying.

Enjoying or annoying that is the question.

The balance is more on the annoying side at this stage.

It's nice to see that if a pirate calls you out for a scan, he or she will appear named on your contacts list. That stopped working ages ago and they've put it back or fixed it. You don't have to search for his or her ship any more. Woot!

Interdictions are still terrible.

The full range of problems is still there, if not worse than ever:

- impossible maneuvers that can't be compensated by the limited yaw capabilites of the ship
- sudden erratic jumps of the evasion vector of 80° angles or more
- an almost full evasion bar that suddenly jumps to being interdicted instead of successfully escaping, as I should have
- an almost full interdiction bar that suddenly jumps to me being able to evade instead of being successfully interdicted, as I should have
- illogical reduction of the evasion bar, even if I'm aligned dead center with the evasion reticule, making it completely impossible to evade.

In its current form the interdiction minigame is completely useless. You might just as well do a 50/50 coin toss on any interdictionattempt and just go with the result instantly, which would save a lot of time and frustration about this buggy game element.

This is pretty much my experience with NPC interdictions. Vs players behaves more predictably, which is the exact opposite of what I would have expected. Players often skip around a bit but I can compensate for that. With NPCs I'm lucky if the rules of the minigame are even applicable.

I agree with both what you wrote and what you agreed.
I had so much hope in the game and am sad to see the direction it's taking... :(

Was just trying to interdict a type 7 and had him sitting right in the middle of the ring. The progress just continued to tick down and and failed.... NPC interdictions seem to be determined no matter what you do.

The black "Mission Target" text has GOT to be fixed. Not like our cockpits are dark or anything.

Refinery does fill empty bins, for me though ..
And I just received no disconnect errors on a 32T hold (8 limpets).

To be fair bin allocation is a tiny bit sticky, occasionally needing a nudge, maybe 5% of the time
.. I'm still seeing occasional lag, in fragments showing in contacts, when switching to left hand panel but;

A good fix for me, game running very smoothly (dual core laptop).

I think what is happening is this: If an incoming fragment has a percentage which exactly fills a bin then 1t of the material is refined and the bin is empty. The next time the same material comes in it locks up with a "Resources Unallocated" message instead of auto-allocating to the empty bin. That's why it seems an intermittent issue. The next time I'm out in the rocks I'm going to try an experiment: clear all bins and if I'm right every incoming metal/mineral will cause a lockup the first time it appears.

I reported the problem here.

The game was released last december. So far, apart from server stability, no significant achievements have been made. We gave them plenty of time to do stuff.

Plenty of people work in or have studied IT and have pointed out bugs and possible solutions (e.g. for the route planner or the ship naming). However, it seems FD has - so far - not reviewed them.

Attacking a straw man of what the near God-likes would be is, well, as silly as every straw man driven pseudo-debate on here. What DBOBE himself said, was:

It wasn't meant to be a strawman, since i never saw the text, it was just an opinion based off the phrase you used.

Now i've seen the phrase, i'm convinced they were smoking some bad dope when they wrote that! They would have had to be insane to follow through on that one. I'm sorry you haven't got what you were promised, but I for one am glad they never followed through on this idea.

I would guess when the buzz wore off they also realized what impact that would have had, and backpeddaled so fast it could have made time run backwards!

What are the rank changes mentioned in the patch note?

The Rank for the Federal Assault Ship is 5 and the Federal Gunship is 7

Now I'm even more confused. When I checked back on 14 October the FAS already had a rank requirement of Chief Petty Officer (Rank 5) - I even posted a screenshot questioning it because I got it confused with the Dropship for rank requirement. There's also a post from 13 October confirming that the FGS requires Ensign (Rank 7). So if the FAS was already Rank 5, and the FGS was already Rank 7, what's been changed in 1.4.1 with respect to this matter?

Maybe they should have also pedaled some money back to people they deceived in coughing up on false premises then?

Or Powerplay undermining.

When 1.4 dropped the rank requirements were wrong for the FAS and FGS. They hotfixed it a few days later after some people (guilty) made a fuss. I'm 99% certain this patch just incorporates the hotfix into the game files.

Hi there... strange fact for me after patch... my game try to auto go in hyperspace jump... i try everything to understand if is my joystick or my keyboard (i change nothing from yesterday that i played)..

I try to open a notepad and wait some time.. nothing pressed (i use w for jump).. same think for the joystick.. opened joy.cpl and watch some time no button pressed..

I've downloaded voiceattack and map w and the button on joystick that i use for jump for have a log when pressed ingame... but eveytime happen "auto jump" nothing logged... if i press w o button manually in game voiceattack give me log of pressed........

In game at random almost 3/4 times in 10 minutes....

i don't understand.... i re try tomorrow after restarting everything.. it's late now.. go to sleep.

The throttle setting does affect how maneuverable the ship is when the tether is established. In 1.3, the throttle setting had a more dramatic impact, eg putting it to 100% while perfectly centered could instantly win an interdiction. In 1.4, that effect is greatly reduced, and it's more about staying centered. The throttle setting still matters though for success of winning and this part seems to be directly impacted by the rank of the NPC in question. Eg, you can will vs a Harmless NPC in a sidewinder, even with throttle at zero, but certainly not vs a Elite Viper.

Clearly this is something that you believe works (as in you do it and reckon it is affecting the outcome) and has a noticeable impact in the mini game, and while I am certainly not saying you are incorrect, quite a few others find it to not be the case. Likewise, as I said above, ship size and rank does not seem to be a defining factor for me...

In 1.3, I always had throttle to zero, and no pips to ENG, and I won very nearly 100% of interdictions. Again, not saying you are incorrect, but I'd really like it if FD would explain how the mini game is supposed to work, because with the greatest respect, until they confirm that throttle position makes a significant difference, I find it hard to accept based on the number of opposing opinions here on the forum. The same goes for class / size of interdictor. I can see no good reason why they should keep such information 'secret'.

I just wanted to post that I tried a couple of interdictions this afternoon, both against Expert Eagles, won one and lost one, and then noticed that in the one I lost I had no pips to ENG, whereas in the one I won I had four pips to ENG, so maybe engine power / throttle do make some difference, although my actual throttle position was the same, so only difference was pip allocation. It would really be very useful if FD could clarify this, as then at least we would have a starting point to try and troubleshoot our techniques.

The real problem is that it all seems so random, it's become an unattractive game mechanic for some people, which I think is a shame.

... Just after the 1.4 patch came out I merely had to twitch an eyebrow and I'd get interdicted.

<snip>

Then the '"I'm gonna get you" message and I boosted for the station and let him commit suicide by space station.

It IS strange. Since 1.4 I've been chain-interdicted by NPC "pirates" who want cargo... when I'm flying cargo-less. One jump or many; like flies on jello. Of course I can't "drop cargo."

On the other hand, I've enjoyed immensely the ones that come at my dropout of hyperspace right next to a station. They barely have time to say "I'm gonna boil you up!" before station security crisps them :)
