10 minutes with the Buluga

No so sure. I made a bug report and there a few others on this issue.

Interestingly, the video in this thread shows heaps of room in the slot for the Beluga. Maybe bad piloting by me, but have got stuck twice flying my Beluga in the slot, even lined up in centre and moving at about quarter speed. The ship blew up once which was an ugly result.

From reading the threads, it seems the tip for anyone getting stuck is to log out of the game straight away and then log back in to re-spawn near the station. At least this means I could get some practice without worrying about blowing my ship up. Don't see this as a cheat if it is done in solo play and purely to practice docking.

Somehow I've never had an issue with the luga and the slot. It is better to have the gear up though from my experience but I just head for slightly below center and never scrape

1. Spent a fortune to buy the buluga and the necessary upgrade (A graded FSD, cabin and etc)

2. Got stuck at the entrance

3. Got blown up in 10 second for loittering

4. Paid 6mil insurance AND LOST MY CREW!!!

5. Sold it

Well, it sums up my experience with the buluga. Never ride it again.

Had my first run last night. Sold it last night 5mil lighter.

I think the op does have a valid point, the "postbox" back in the original elite was massive you could fit a pretty big ship through that, and considering the size of the star port anything bigger than a sidewinder gets stuck if you enter at the wrong angle. These stations are supposed to house millions of people yet a one man ship can foul up the entry point. We need some size frontier, because size really does matter.

Yeah, did a fair few passenger missions in mine, a couple of scrapes but never stuck in the slot. Stripped it out after a few days and it's been sitting in storage gathering dust since. Surely they'll make luxury missions viable at some point but at the mo' the 'conda does the passenger job far better.

Do not know, for some reason i really like beluga.
Bought it just because i had upgraded thrusters and fsd lying around, tried it and it surprised me - i expected it to be a lot worse.
It has crazy maneuverability for it size. Is not terribly slow, like ~370 boost. Has nice view, reasonably good jump range (around 30LY with cabins), and absolutely great fuel range. The only real downside is heat issue while charging FSD.
Never got any issues with docking/flying through slot. As with any big ship it is really easy to misjudge distances and hit a side of the slot, but no technical issues like getting stuck.
Considering using it as explorer, because of combination of great visibility and great maneuverability (including supercruise).

Beluga is a beautiful ship. I'm not really sure what to do with mine since I hate passengers and the shields suck. But I still like it.

it is indeed, however it is a token vessel and requires careful driving, most pilots think of them having the same handling as a corvette or anaconda, this is not the case. It is the American RV supersized motorhome in elite dangerous. It not a fighter and therefore was not designed with going through that little post box in a hurry, but i do agree that you have to retract the gear to get a smooth exit. i find this ship pretty useless myself passenger missions are not worth my time.

Mine has become a luxury explorer, over 33ly jump range, boosts and fly nice even with D rated thrusters once engineered. My biggest complaint is the locked slots so can only fit a 4a scoop, that's painful but luckily you can jump 10-11 jumps on a tank so only 2 refills on about 1000lys

I don't own a Beluga yet, but I will.
I've only champagned a ship once - a Type-9. Two boosts later I popped out, just like the aforementioned and nearly ate the back wall. After that, I figured out the exact angle I need to be to slip right through the slot.

Ahh yeah very nice, one of my anacondas is rigged for 62ly jumps with 8 srvs and the usual long range exploration package. But yeah i find it a major issue when you have a limited fuel supply, i can jump upto 5 jumps before needing to scoop.

…, and considering the size of the star port anything bigger than a sidewinder gets stuck if you enter at the wrong angle. …

The entry slot is big. There is enough room to do a lot of silly things even with smallish medium sized ships. It just takes a lot of time to really know/feel the size of the ship you are flying.

While I prefer smaller, more SC maneuverable ship, the Beluga looks like a good big explorer. Too bad that it's scoop or SLF. Wish one additional class5 slot could be used for a scoop.

If you get stuck in the slot ... I usually find it's my tail fins .... try using boost down (F key by default) ... gets me out of trouble when this happens, rather than trying to increase thrust forwards.

Ive decided that the Beluga must be a BMW. Who else would insist on trying to exit thro the slot just as I am halfway thru in my cutter. Only a BMW driver would be so stupid.

I'd like to apologise to all owners of BMW motorcars but I wont. So ner.

Had my Beluga for a while and have Never gotten stuck in the mail slot. I have scraped and lost shields when I try to rotate to my landing pad too soon on entering, but no issues at all with exiting or entering while maintaining heading and orientation. It isn't that hard. My only complaint about it is that you can't see where the Utility pods are on your hull in outfitting.
