15 hours in the cv1 and looking for input

I have a million questions. Settings wise i have 1080s, i7 5930 and under graphics options I can select vr ultra turn up super sampling to 1.5 turn up terrain to 50% and it runs butter smooth. are there any other visuals i'm missing like increasing resolution in game? cockpits look great can read everything clearly but when dropping out of super cruise you can barley make out the small stations in the distance, up close its really nice, easy to land and explore

Is my virtual avatar supposed to look like he's 5 nothing an a 100 an nothing?

This is for the devs. can you please relocate the pop up panels on the eagle lower than the left and right windows. really blocks a good view.

Srv. got a little motion sick but when i drive from the turret i'm just fine.

Can never go back now. the rift has completely changed this game. totally natural sensation of flight, when dog fighting, parking it , buzzing along the moon crater. complete immersion.

Ships I flown so far and my opinions

Sidewinder. nice big cockpit, great views not much head room
Eagle. cozy but dislike the pop up panel locations
Cobra. didn't care for it.
Viper. hated it in 2d. love it in 3d. way easier to fly now
Vulture. wow, talk about a great view
Asp. its so big its cold in here, great view. looking down while sticking a landing has never been easier.

Haha welcome to VR. Glad you're enjoying it!

The simple act of being able to look around and lean over to see round that annoying cockpit spar is a godsend.

As for settings, you can likely drop Depth of field and Blur completely. They do very little in VR (I find, anyway) Drop Bloom to medium. Drop shadows to medium or high to gain a little bit more performance headroom.

On my 1080, I'm using HMD Quality of 1.25 and leaving the Supersampling at 1.0 - I get a few jitters entering stations etc but nothing major.
I do find I'm having a better experience staying with ATW, rather than the newer ASW that tends to cut in too early and does a good job of mangling the menus and HUD lines.

For me the experience was different to the OPs. The Cobra Mk3 Cockpit is a 2 seater, which gives it a nice athmosphere. Driving the SRV in the turret feels worse for me, especially when rotating while driving.

You can put the "look around" feature on a button (hold, not toggle). It allows you to lock the panels when used in combination with the direction keys (thrusters or gui cursor move). But it will also keep the panels off when held alone, so you can look around.

There's an option in the graphics settings called "Vehicle Maintain Horizon Camera". I believe if you turn that off it'll make the cockpit view stay locked to the SRV like the turret instead of to the horizon.

It's a purely personal setting for motion sickness. Some need the camera locked to the vehicle, some need it locked to the horizon.
