2.3 dev update feedback mega thread

I agree, because Frontier looks they are wandering in the dark... I don't they will spend much time to improve existing mechanics and this is sad. They need to make money, so they need to sell new things. Whats Frontier lacks the most is the visionary who should take the helm of studio and lead these game into shinny future.

Even if they don't have money for improvement existing features, they should prepare roadmap for improvements and share it. Then it may launch crowdfounding campaign for it or collect money via ingame extras. I will but skins much more frequently if I can see for which things my money goes. For example they can add "improved Wings and Multicrew gameplay, coop mission" stretch goal and fill it according to game extras sales...

I'm certainly still waiting (occasionally impatiently) for the development of the existing features.

Though fresh features are great, and will attract new revenue/bring some players back, I'm still waiting for the additional SRVs that were talked about upon Horizons' release. Also waiting for expansion/development of the other features. Wing missions, for example. Naval careers. Ship naming. Orrery view. Asteroid bases... (or maybe I won't be waiting all that long for those particular things...)

Not a complaint per se, just an observation at this point - I still play and enjoy the game, but I can still hear the interviews where the expansion of these features was talked about. Perhaps I should get that seen to...

Does this count as 2.3 feedback if I really really really eeeeeeeeeeeally hope that the above make it into the release?

That's it? 163 are unhappy with the concept? Out of about 1.5 million game owners?

I though he was refering to some message from FD! Not a massive volume of FUD from 163 people.

Still these are statistics... Maybe it is quite small sample that it still present some layout of satisfied/dissatisfied players, deal with it.

I sort of hope 2.3 will be the last of the, "lets slap some stuff on and hope it sticks" updates, time to start building and expanding on whats in the game as is.

I think 2.3 is much more fundamental than that, and that it shows ambition for space legs. eg. in 2.3 your avatar can be tagged as being outside your ship (at a given multicrew seat, button, switch, data download, punch someone in the face) as well as at 'some three dimensional place' outside that other ship (in fighter). None of the updates should be taken purely at face value I think, and I also think meeting a shady blackmarket contact 'in person' is more fun than accessing even a fleshed out blackmarket system only from the station services menu.

Aye I do too, but I still hope 2.3 has a bit more and I'm sure it will than what we have to chew on thus far. :)

Afraid so, getting a little jaded with all this. Its ship transfers all over again.

I hope they will polish and develop much more features in patch 2.3. Multicrew at it current state is not very interesting for me. Maybe other things from 2.3... maybe... and maybe they will improve Multicrew in Elite 3.x...

I agree with you, and it may be that Frontier consider adding some features they know for a fact will end up redundant later. Whether that (knowingly wasted resources) is worth it, might depend on how restless the natives get .. but having watched the development from pre-release, and having had my epiphany around about 1.3, I definitely wouldn't be one to see any feature that comes, in any update, as the summary of Frontier's vision for the game. A vision of the code, for the game perhaps ..

The problem with multicrew as it is currently proposed by Frontier - it is not worth to spend 30-60 minutes to participate in it because it is to shallow. Would you spend one hour to launch mini-game? No! This is why Frontier introduced telepresence, to handle properly their new mini-game called multicrew. If the could introduce proper multicrew with advanced and deep mechanics (concepts similar to Pulsar Lost Colony and Star Citizen) it will be worth to spend time on initiating it, even if it takes one hour. Again I will say that anyone happy with proposed multicrew is accepting Elite shallowness and road taken by Frontier - the path of simplicity and low costs. The question is how they will consider us buy season 3 or whatever they will call new expansions... Just think about it, they told us that they will introduce new SRVs types. Still there is no SRVs, why? This is only one model with only one behaviour, how many graphics designer they have? 2, 3, 4? How hard is to handle new vehicle to Cobra Engine... They focusing on fulfilling bullet points of Horizon DLC at lowest possible cost, then they will switch to next one to. I understand they must earn money, but I am extremely disappointed with quality of their job ;/ still no competition right now force to to accept it.

Nail on head. Without more robust multt-crew mechanics, it's just not worth anything but instant transfer.

I think how they react to our complains... I mean devs.
Are they sad? Or maybe angry? Or maybe they don't care? Maybe they are motivated to improve this game according to community request?

Just grabbed this pic from my secret camera hidden in FD's office. Here we see Braben reading the forums.

Numerous polls have come to this conclusion. between 70 to 85% of the people poled respond that NPC crew would be a better feature.

Yes - I've been linked one of those polls.

163 people are unhappy with the Concept. Zero people have any experience with it.

So you are projecting your expectations onto FD wihout any actual feedback from them. Thats what it looks like right now from what you've said.

I just can't help thinking how he seems to be drinking from thee distinctively labeled mugs. As if he's trying to please three ideologically different player groups at the same time....

Frontier gave quite detailed description of Multicrew, me might be disappointed. It is sad for us because the works on multicrew are in advanced state and I don't think they will adjust to feedback. Maybe in future major patches, but I am not sure about that looking and PP and CQC. They policy clearly state: deploy half backed feature and leave it be.
